Lucius hadn't really expected him to place an arm around his shoulders, but managed to not look surprised. However, when the guy continued on, he furrowed his brows. "What?" he said, then shrugged. "I guess that the queen is important in that case, but what has that to do with real life?" Sure, chess could have one piece that was the most important, but life couldn't be simplified like that, right?
Real life was much more colorful and rich than a game of chess could represent. Losing an important piece could be bad, sure, but it wasn't going to make you lose any kind of game.
Oscar shakes his head lightly. "Chess HAS EVERYTHING to do with real life, pawns are pieces that are often used to sacrifice for another or simply to charge ahead to threaten the other team, rooks are the ultimate bodyguards and bishops and knights? Best tag team offensives. The King is the piece that we protect, it can barely move, however, and most of the doing is done by the queen." He waved his free arm around wildly. "In this world, we have pawns, sure, there are people used to others benefits, they have no real control of the board, society. By themselves Knights, Rooks and Bishops are very useful to the queen, they can go on the offensive or defensive, but if the queen was in trouble or a... trade could be done that would benefit the team, they usually would be thrown away." He was impressed that he came up with something through a stupid quote. "They don't control 90% of the board though, the queen does. You need to have control over your current situation, you know, whether its overdue tax or finding money, you're going to do it by doing what you're good at and not what others are good at." That's, why he was here, wasn't it? He asked me how I made all that money.
(idek what i wrote anymore)
נιηχχє∂ you can find us if you want since we're just... standing there xD )
"Safety in numbers it is!" Michaela said, giving them a thumbs up. Moments later, she brought a hand up to her face, a thoughtful expression on her face. "Okay, so have you two eaten already? If not, that could be our first goal. Otherwise maybe we could look for some easy weapons?"
A grin spread across her face as she said that. "There's gotta be baseball bats or old kitchen knives somewhere, right?" she joked. "I'm sure we can totally win like that."
Jay regarded him for a few moments, trying to weight his options again. "Somewhere with less people..." he finally muttered, figuring that the guy wasn't going to kill him. At least not for the moment, and Jay would be ready for it if he tried to. While he probably had less skill, he wasn't going to go down that easily.
His eyes gave the silent message that he was sure that Quinn knew exactly where to find quieter places. He wasn't scared of him, honestly, there were way scarier things than a short guy who seemed like he believed he could scare him off.
Lucius looked like he'd only managed to listen to half of what Oscar had said. Still, he nodded with a small, unsure smile. "A-ah. So, basically, I should use what I'm good at to make money?" What was he even good at? He doubted people wanted to buy poems off of him.
Scratching the back of his head, he added, "I suppose the problem's just that I'm not from, well, around here. I don't really know where most things are yet." That wasn't too dangerous to say, was it?

Oscar gave a pleasing nod, he managed to turn chess into a philosophical lesson- he is very proud of himself. "Not from here? From another city I suppose? What exactly did you come here then." Oscar gave a small chuckle, man this kid doesn't have his life sorted, or maybe he is one like him, who also isn't from here, or any other place on this soil.
“You had me at food in general, yet I don’t got any money on me.” Peridot said with a small shrug as she didn’t really carry cash on her unless she was in town however unless you counted shiny rocks yet she hadn’t been sure what the currency or this world was unless you count ‘borrowing’ as one, “I dunno.... the world is like ours but it’s got a.... what’s the word? Boom? Nah that’s not it.... Off. Off’s the word.” She then added as it was a confusing place more so with other inhabitants here than back home world.
"Hmm...my favorite memory? I have too many to count, but i guess, it would be the memory of meeting all you and making friends here on the forums. :3" ”One day I’m going to sit down and make a list of all the books that I finished reading....” “It's going to be a long list...”
Alone and loveless here Just the girl in the mirror Just her and me, Wicked Witch of the East! We deserve each other...
Eirian shoved their hands in their pockets. "I could eat, yeah. Didn't have anything this morning." Their eyes narrowed a moment later. "I'm not eating meat, though." They had always hated eating anything that was once alive. Besides, they never liked the taste anyway.
"And after we eat, we'll need to work on finding weapons. I suppose an old kitchen knife will have to do. Unless there's someone around here that sells weapons?" It was worth a shot, probably. Who knew what kinds of stuff were in this place.
Lucius gave a nervous smile. "Yeah, from another city," he said slowly, knowing that he wasn't sounding believable at all. God, he wasn't good at this. But before he could say more, a loud, booming voice interrupted him from a carriage.
"Hear ye, hear ye! Our most beloved king is going to be holding a speech outside the palace doors in about an hour's time! All people are asked to come witness his words!"
Lucius winced at the loud voice, furrowing his brows. A king? Where in the world was a palace here? He'd not seen it before. Maybe it was in the center of the city? Really, now that he thought about it, maybe the things he'd taken as the top of churches weren't really that. Who knew.
"Ahh, do you know what this is about? I'm new, after all," he said sheepishly.
Michaela shrugged. "We just gotta find money, then," she said, looking like she was already coming up with some kind of plan. "And yeah, no meat's fine, don't worry." They could just look for something without meat, really. There was sure to be something.
"Well, let's get out of here," she continued, moving to the end of the alley with a small smile. Still, once they emerged onto the wider streets again, the booming voice reached them as well.
"Hear ye, hear ye! Our most beloved king is going to be holding a speech outside the palace doors in about an hour's time! All people are asked to come witness his words!"
Michaela blinked as the carriage passed them, furrowing her brows. "Well, that's convenient," she muttered. "You guys wanna go there?"

Oscar was about to tell the boy that even he did not know there was a palace here. "Well, they didn't really specifically say what the speech was about did they?" He replied with a half smile, but the lack of information truly made him feel uneasy. "Well, hate to break it to your kid... you're asking the wrong person about this world." He gave an ironic chuckle, for the past few minutes he made himself look like he own this place and know every little cranny, how a bluff could get him so far...
Lucius' eyes snapped over to him at that, confusion written over his face. "What? Not ask you about this world?" he asked, before realization dawned in his eyes. If he had said it like that, then that probably meant they were in the same mess. What a luck that he'd run into him, right? How was he going to tell him that he was the same, though? There were so many people around them.
He ran a hand through his hair, frowning slightly as he thought. Then, he took a deep breath. "I'm the same," he simply said, hoping that it was enough to show what he was getting at. Nobody listening in could know like this, right? "Should we go listen to the speech?" he added, figuring that sticking together could be good, in their case.
Quinn was about to make a suggestion when the voice rang out. He made a look of obvious displeasure with a roll of his eyes. "I think that should be our first stop as wed look out of place avoiding it." Obviously when a king requests something youre supposed to do it no matter where youre at; and while Quinn was definitely not someone to follow the rules of anyone, it would give some insight about their current affairs.
Rose heard the voice and stopped in her plave to listen. Along with the news being rang out, she heard two people close by talking about their particular situation. They never said it directly but Rose was quick to make her judgement based on te use of 'world.' That, and she just had a feeling about it; which she always followed her intuition. She skipped up to Lucius and Oscar with a big friendly grin. "Come on slowpokes. Aren't you curious?" She spoke as if she had been a part of the conversation the whole time. Which, to be fair, she heard their talking so she got their conversation. But to them she was a strange girl who looked way too excited about this.

Well, that makes sense. "Then we should head off then shall we?" He gave a smile, the boy doesn't seem like lying so this should be fine... "Name's Oscar, by the way, Oscar Mumford." Oscar introduced himself as he walked over to the said castle. "Don't think I introduced myself yet."

James purposely ignored the announcement, what can he do... "Hmm..." Maybe go practice his element? Great idea. Although he had mastered the basic fire element, there were still others for him to discover, Lava, Smoke... well you get the point. "Now, now, now..." James whispered as other people hurried by him "Where shall I go?" The pond? It has water so it won't get out of control just in case but since he was trying to perfect the power of lava, it wouldn't be so kind if he ruined that place... Maybe he'll just explore for now...
I noticed that you put the gender as female, but used he pronouns throughout the rest of the form? Was that a mistake, maybe? Haha. Also, he's not supposed to even know what element he has yet or how to control it, which is what I saw in the post you made))
(Boom, here's the king lol. I'm gonna put up the form and everything for people from that world soon haha)
Username »» Waterpelt Character's Name »» Jaden Hillingham Gender »» Male Age »» 23 Height »» 5'9" Appearance »» A fair skinned young man with a rather average build, though he does have slight muscles hidden underneath his clothes. Jaden's hair is light brown, falling with a slight wave to it. It's cleanly cut, stopping at the end of his ears. His eyes are a blue-gray, though the gray is much more obvious. Most of the time, his eyes hide a certain degree of mischief, too.
Personality »» To the public eye, Jaden is a poised, hard ruling king. Nobody would question his authority, which has caused him to develop the thought that he's above the normal people. Having always been told that starting from a young age has not helped keep that complex at bay, either. Still, there are people he considers to stand on even ground with him, but it is hard to earn that kind of respect from him.
While he doesn't rule badly, most of his decisions are influenced by the council that had been put in place by his parents. Due to never having had the need to decide on something being right or wrong himself, he usually just goes with what they say, or what the popularity decides.
Privately, Jaden is still an overly confident person, though he isn't as arrogant anymore. Those that are close enough to witness him privately usually have earned his respect in some kind of form, anyway.
Jaden's sense of evil and good is akin to that of a child's. There are no gray zones for him, either something is evil or it's good. As well as that, he can actually be quite mischievous, having managed to ditch guards and others while still a prince to go off and explore. Despite this, he's still rather naive to anything that has not been fed to him.
He's got a flair for the dramatic, but can also actually be quite nice when he considers the other person as a friend. . Family »» William Hillingham (father; deceased), Jessica Hillingham (mother; deceased), Amber Hillingham (younger sister) Backstory (optional) »» Born into the royal family, Jaden has always been raised differently than normal children. As it was clear that one day he was going to become the king, he has been trained for that task starting from an early age. Only having servants around him that agreed with everything he said and his parents always telling him he was above them, fueled his thoughts about being above others.
Still, Jaden became king at a young age, his mother having died of sickness when he was 17, and his father getting killed in a fight outside the walls when he was 21. Soon after, he took the crown, tasking the council with the task to tell him about the happenings in the city. Rank »» King of the walled city Karosia Weapon(s) »» A short sword . Likes »» Animals, being right, food Dislikes »» Getting disagreed with, reading Strengths »» Fighting, ditching people he doesn't like Weaknesses »» Admitting to being wrong, realizing when somebody truly likes him . Sexuality »» I think even he doesn't know lol Crush »» Dating »» Other »» He's ambidextrous.
Jay didn't seem thrilled at all by the idea of going there. It sounded like a big crowd of people was going to gather there, which was something he wasn't looking forward to at all. A big crowd sounded like a headache just waiting to happen. "I suppose," he finally replied, narrowing his eyes at the ground.
At least he saw some of the people chatter excitedly about the announcement, and figured that they could just follow them to the palace. He doubted that the other guy knew where it was. Speaking of which....
Jay sighed quietly at the thought. "I'm Jay," he muttered out, figuring that they'd be stuck together for at least a little longer.
--
Lucius nodded. "Lucius," he replied, then startled when a girl suddenly popped into their conversation like she'd been there the entire time. Had she been listening in...? Were they in trouble? He ran a hand through his hair, deciding that she probably hadn't listened in and was just excited about what that king had to say.
"I dunno," he finally said, giving her a polite smile. "I'm new around here, don't quite know this king yet," he lied. "Do you know what it's gonna be about?"
