I want to start this off by saying thank you. Thank you for the past year, thank you for helping me hit four thousand posts, thank you for being my friends. This forum has been one of the highlights of this past year, and hitting four thousand posts on my one-year anniversary only makes it more special. Over the past year, I’ve made so many friends that I can’t even name all of them. Whether they be on Discord or this forum, I cannot name each and every single one. Just a few of these amazing people are Catsquid, who has been one of my best banning buddies, ☆ Navnav ☆, with his amazing CYOA and lots of Discord support and all-nighters, Hollywing the, one of the people that assisted me with posting and a personal rival for me, giving me a challenge, Mapleheartstar, who I’ve known for so long and I miss with all my heart, River to stars, one of the first people to greet me on this forum and who joins in many activities that I make, @moonpoolx, who hasn’t been here for long, yes, but I still consider them a friend, 𝙼𝚄𝚇𝙰, for making a different awesome CYOA and being a good friend, the members of the Zombie Cat Apocalypse Discord server, a server for a CYOA that, sadly, had its life cut short, my Discord group, Oh Boy Yeah 3/4, who helped me though the tough times, and most importantly, ✞~Spottedleaf ~✞, who supported me this entire time, showed me right from wrong and helped me pull through to 4,000 during this last week. I cannot express enough gratitude to any of you. If you don’t see your name here, it’s because I couldn’t remember your username off the top of my head because I was making this list before 8 am, without wi-fi to check.
I joined this forum on October 7th, 2018. At first, I was incredibly nervous about posting. I posted about once during the entire month of October 2018. As I grew more comfortable with this forum, I began posting more and more frequently. By the end of either November or December, I can’t remember which, I had hit 1,000 posts. I posted my celebration speech in the first thread I ever posted in. By that point in time, most of the people listed above had already become great friends to me, especially Spottedleaf and Catsquid. That first thousand posts was the time where I was incredibly nervous on the forum. I never have had many friends in real life. Almost every single one of my friends, I met online and don’t even know here.
I posted a lot in December 2018 because of winter break. I also posted a lot on the ZCA Discord, annoying Nav out of his mind with puns and all-nighters. Now, most of the people on the ZCA Discord server are way ahead of me in timezones, so it wasn’t much trouble to pull all-nighters. I think I got a good few hundred, maybe thousand posts in. Eventually, I hit 2K and made an actual thread to celebrate. If I remember correctly, I said that my next goal was 5K, but clearly, I didn’t hit that goal before 1 year. In February, I hit a dry spot. I was off of the forum for an entire month, almost. I was very much caught up in playing Lioden - so caught up, in fact, that I nearly forgot about the forum. I have no memory of my 3000th post or when it was.
Now, this part is where it gets really interesting. Eventually, I started up my own CYOA, which you should totally check out because it’s updated every Saturday and it’s rare that I miss a day. Sooner or later, the summer hit and my posting rate dropped, not because I was losing interest, but because my brother can’t be bothered to go to his friends’ houses instead of them coming to ours. It may have also had something to do with the fact that I had accidentally gotten my laptop completely obliterated. Sorry, laptop. (Wait… come to think of it, maybe another reason I hardly posted in October last year was a different problem with the same laptop…) May that laptop rest in peace. I still managed to update that CYOA for every week I had wi-fi, though. Other discoveries included the fact that you should never make posts on a 3DS, the fact that iPads are excruciatingly painful to type on and that I have a total of about 1 friend IRL. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! Around September, pictures started acting up across the entire forum. I was one of the first to notice this. When the problem started getting worse, I tried to ignore it, until it ruined my favorite ShadowClan theme. It had ruined all of the other themes, too, except for the new default theme. Turns out that tinypic.com had shut down. Why, I will never understand. I, being one of the only people who actually uses themes, was (probably) the first to point this out. I helped Spoots help Falcon fix it. You’re welcome, fellow theme users.
During this past week, I have worked myself to the bone trying to hit four thousand posts. Spoots has been the biggest help to me and I will forever be thanking her for it. She has taken the time out of her life to help me hit my goals. We have all taken the time out of our lives to help each other reach our goals. This forum is like a family outside of my family, and while it doesn’t have Maxi or Willow, it has friends helping each other, which is almost as good. (To me, nothing will ever compare to my pets, but this forum comes close.) I didn’t think that I could hit 80 posts a day, but I did, more than once. Today, at this hour of 11:17 PM on this day of October 7th of this year of 2019, I have reached four thousand posts, exactly one year after joining this amazing forum.
I cannot thank you enough for being here through all of this. I can't thank any of you enough. You guys put up with all my insane nonsense. You have since I joined this forum. You guys have become like a family outside of my family to me. I cannot express in words how much joy you've brought me over this past year. This forum has been one of my escapes from the real world, where everything is so much worse. I'm glad to have you guys as friends. I will continue to post, even though I will never hit the level of the amazing Spottedleaf, and I encourage you all to do the same. Keep going. Just because you will never be the best at something doesn’t mean that you still can’t do amazing things.
Some of the things I have learned over the last year about the world include but are not limited to: “People don’t like it when you correct them.” “There will always be jerks who try to tick you off.” “There is no ‘and’ anywhere in a number, except for the decimal point, and you can just use point instead of and. It’s not one hundred AND ninety-one AND thirty-two hundredths, it’s one hundred ninety-one and thirty-two hundredths or one hundred ninety-one point three two.” “Nobody can type perfectly.” “The backspace button is underappreciated.” “The internet is basically a home away from home.” “Trying to eat three ice cream sandwiches within a short period of time will make you feel sick.” “Instead of trying to change yourself, you should embrace your personal brand of weirdness.” “If you get knocked down, you can always get back up again.” “Karens are an incredibly scary subspecies of human.” “People online are less judgmental than people in real life… ninety-nine percent of the time.” (Well, one of those, I learned in Grade 5 or 6, but still.)
Things I’ve learned about myself? I have autism. I am really good at writing stories. I have no skills at real human socialization and am much better at talking online than face-to-face. I have major addictions to cookies and ice cream sandwiches. I can actually stop my bad habits if I just try.
Thank you all for this past year, and I hope we can share many more together!
Sincerely, MaxiWillowFurStarMaster666711, who is up multiple hours past her bedtime
