Hey guys, Leaf here with another fanfic. Yeah, another Maximum Ride based one, but instead of focusing on a mutant, were going to dive into the life of a young whitecoat named Felix...
PROLOUGE
Felix was eagerly flipping through his science book. He had done it before when they learned about something interesting to him, but now it had taken a new turn. He wanted to know everything about anything involving science. He was pretty smart for a nine year old, he had been told countless times, and he believed that. His mother looked back and smiled at her son's sudden eagerness to learn. She herself was a scientist, and she now hoped that Felix would become one as well. "Its genetic." She said with a chuckle as they turned into the driveway.
CHAPTER ONE
(nine years later)
Felix awoke to sunlight streaming down onto his face and a mockingbird mimicking the sound of a purple martin. He got out of bed and stretched, savoring the sounds of the morning before work. The peaceful sound and feel of the morning was shattered by the loud ring of his wall phone that was in the bedroom. He sighed and trudged over. "Hello?" He asked, not bothering to look and see who it was. His boss was on the other line, and his voice boomed angerly. "You were supposed to be here half an hour ago!" Felix sighed. "I'm sorry, boss. I forgot that we had that time change last night." Felix said. His boss just gave an annoyed sigh, and hung up. "Today I'm not living up to my name..." Felix muttered as he got ready for work. He emerged from his house a few minutes later and headed for his car. He drove to work without excitement. Working at a fast food place was really a monotonous job, and he hated it, but he got by with it. He prepared himself for another boring day at McDonalds, and stepped out of his car and into the door. 'It forever lacks sceince besides cooking.' He thought silently as he trudged to his station.
CHAPTER 2
Felix glanced at the clock for what seemed like the thousandth time that day. His shift was coming to a close, and he wanted to get home and read his books. Hr sighed as another customer came through the door, but perked up when he saw who it was. "Hey, John! What'll it be today?" John was a high school friend, and a fellow sceince nerd. "Just a small fry." John said. About a minute later he handed the packet to John. "Your tip, my good man." John said with a slightly cocky British accent, and handed him one of the saltier fries. Felix chuckled and shoved the fry into his mouth. He glanced at the clock and discovered his shift had finally ended. By the look John was giving him now, he had something to tell.
CHAPTER 3
Felix slid into his car, hyped for what John had brought. John had come on foot, since he hr started working out a bit to try to impress a girl, and the apartment he was staying in wasn't too far away from McDonalds. "What is it?" Felix said, anticipating something astounding. What John handed him actually WAS amazing, past his expectation. It was a card to work as a scientist. They sought people with high IQ levels, and they had apparently decided that Felix fit the bill pretty well, according to the long note that could only really be described as a letter said. It also said that he was wasting away in that fast food dump, which he could agree upon. He was just compley astounded by what came next. They offered him a scholarship to Harvard! "Oh. My. God." John said as he, too, read the letter. Felix simply nodded. It would be on the other side of the country, but he would do it to be accepted to that job.
