I once was falling asleep, and I was almost like in a trance and my eyes were just barely open, and I saw a dark figure leaning over me and I couldn't react, It was scary as heck >.< I did't lucid dream though, I don't even know how people on here say "I would lucid dream if sleep paralysis didn't come with it" Like how would you make yourself lucid dream? x3 (We haven't ever talked about lucid dreams in school so .3.) you get a habit of checking if your in a dream or not and then you'll do it in your dreams. You can also tell yourself that you're in a dream when you're going to sleep. Another method to help beginners is telling yourself "I will be conscious in my dreams" over and over again as you fall asleep. Eventually your will lose focus and fall into sleep. This does not mean once you all asleep you will start dreaming. It actually takes the brain on average about 90 minutes after sleep to start the cycle of dreaming. By telling yourself as your falling asleep though presets your mind to that and you have a higher chance of being conscious. Why sleep paralyze is caused from lucid dreaming is from the lack of sleep cycles you go through. Dreaming happens in the fourth stage of sleep (I think) also known as REM; so when you are able to control your dreams, you don't go through the other cycles of sleep properly causing your body to get confused to the point where it's only in dream mode. You can spend a lot more time in REM than your body is used to so when it tries to move back to stage three it gets stuck there also known as sleep paralyze. Basically the only risk with lucid dreaming is the first step in waking up. Sleep paralyzed is also caused by waking yourself out of your dream but your body didn't actually awake. That's why lucid dreaming commonly occurs when someone is in sleep paralyze; because it kicks them back to part of the REM phase. EDIT: Actually, it can occur if you are trying to fall asleep too. And it's actually a combination of REM and stage three.

Is it bad that I wanna lucid dream just to see what sleep paralysis is like? Im a thrill seeker, I like my scary dreams. Except one that had my mom in it. That one nightmare is one I dread.
EDIT: Ive also tried Astral Travel, but I wasnt able to. I almost get to it, but then something happens and breaks it. ;-;

Do you get to the vibration stage and your mind feels the urge to snap out of it?
EDIT: I was referring to astral travel.
About sleep paralysis, it isn't scary if you know what it is. Sleep paralysis can occur during stage one sleep if you go to sleep conscious. It take roughly 20 to 30 minutes to do this. Once you are in this stage, you can either lucid dream or astral travel.

Yeah, Itll get to there, and then itll just break, snap completely out. I dont know how to make sure it doesnt do that, because I have been trying for a month now and ill get the same outcome.

I've never heard of Astral Travel? Sounds dangerous and from your descriptions it's... lucid sleep paralysis?
And yeah, sleep paralysis is when you see these hallucinations and hear sounds and feel things touching you but they're not there but they seem real. It's when your body is not awake but your mind is.

And yeah, sleep paralysis is when you see these hallucinations and hear sounds and feel things touching you but they're not there but they seem real. It's when your body is not awake but your mind is. Generally the visions of the ghosts, demons, and other hallucinogenic stuff are due to the fact that people can become stressed because they can't move their body which causes their subconscious to make you see things you are afraid of such as an intruder in the house or a ghost. You may still see them if you are calm but studies have shown that hallucinations with sleep paralysis are rare and most cases of sleep paralysis last only 3 to 5 minutes. It just eels longer if you are terrified of the hallucinations. Astral traveling is an OBE (out of body experience) in which you can go to from stage one sleep. Some people have reported going into astral travel from being awake though this is very rare and controversial. Actually, there's a whole controversy that astral travel is lucid dreaming but that's still up for debate.

In most cases that can explain a lot of things. However, there are some cases that are truly unexplainable like a few of the hangar one case files. I'm not saying I believe in the alien abduction stories, just that some of them do raise questions and definitely are not sleep paralysis.

Yeah not sure 'bout abductions but I know some planet, no matter how far must have at least microbial life.

On August 18th last year, the people at the space station where cleaning off the windows of the space station. When they observed their samples afterward, they found plankton in the wash which was puzzling. How could plankton be living in outer space with all of that radiation. They still don't know if the plankton came from earth or a comet that melted over the station but one thing is for sure, single celled organisms might be able to live through a nuclear Apocalypse.

another way to lucid sleep is to wright something on your hand, and every time you look at your hand, reflect, "am i dreaming?" when you dream, you should see the symbol, evenb if you wash it off.

Those who know me love me. Those who don't know me love me from afar.
So just to be sure, Lucid Dreaming is like a dream you're having but you have like full control over it?
