Imagine a world in the distant future of A.D. 2110, after a long civil war that spanned from 2075 to 2100. How much would technology have progressed? A lot. Small, mobile mechs, sentient robots, faster-than-light travel and interstellar travel--you name it. It's luck they lived through the civil war, because the worldwide civil war made the rest of the world asides from Singapore, Monaco and Luxembourg to sink to the depths of the ocean.
Nuclear warheads and other weapons of mass destruction polluted most of the ocean and other landmasses that remain (but go unnoticed) are heavily poisoned by radiation. After forming the world government, plans were made to create a radiation filtering aquatic barrier. There were many aftermath damage to fix...
On the plus side, the radiation still got onto the habitable islands. The radiation were, surprisingly enough, positive and mutate those affected into having superpowers. Although prejudiced exist for months, show businesses had ideas to bring the radiated into the media. Smaller landsizes, condensed population, lack of focus on law enforcement and the newfound superpowers that may have landed in hands of the wrong person... let's say crime rate got real ugly. But obviously, showbiz turned this around. The radiated, under media companies' sponsors, started fighting the super criminals! Soon, the TV world was taken over by these superheroes. Those without superheroes exploited technology to become one. And thus, the TV world is both a fight against real criminals and between every companies out there for the best TV rating.
The world no longer sees these superheroes as 'human'. Whether they live or die for the public's entertainment, it's nothing big. Life or death is just a game now. And the world government would rather keep it that way.
That's not to say old channels back in the old time don't exist anymore. But once trouble arises, everyone's forced to watch the Hero Channel, a live view of the heroes in action. Those with conscience missed the old days where no one were crazy about these people and remembered the meaning of 'reality'.
Settings:
Look up a world map, imagine that the rest of the world asides from Singapore, Monaco and Luxembourg are now underwater ruins. Singapore has always been an island, but so are Monaco and Luxembourg now. These countries were rich enough to build one giant barrier to protect themselves during the civil war, so now these islands are like domes.
Other than these three 'islands', an artificial island was built, called 'Central'. Central hosts the Yggdrasil, a bluish, metallic tree with glowing, cyan, crystal-like leaves. The tree is the main water-processing and purifying plant, and its 'roots' (which are just tubes) are connected to every houses. Central is pretty big, so there's one huge square/plaza surrounding the tree, but the rest of Central are just big cities. The Yggdrasil apparently purifies the radiated water with some sort of 'substance' that alters the mind of those who drink it a little, but no one know the exact details... soon though, the rest of the ocean will be clean.
The World Government are separated into three branches, and each branch govern an island. Should be obvious what they're called, but one person hold power among the three.
There are faster-than-light teleporters which replace the subways, so you travel through underground to get to other places.
Enough geography talk. Humanity haven't changed that much, though all nations are mixed racial, so that's all to say, I guess. Animals are here and there.
There are also robots and androids now. Some are fully sentient. There are also some small-sized mechs, flight optional. Some humans were created artificially or altered enough to become 'artificial'.
There are some technological advancement like those mentioned above and also convenient things like an automatic appearance altering device...
Outside the safe zones which are these three nations, there are some small, radiated landforms that remain, though those will rarely be mentioned (unless a superhero accidentally discovered them...). There are dangerous aquatic creatures, mutated due to radiations. The superheroes will probably have to fight those on a few occasions since they sometimes attack the islands.
But if you're asking on what date in-RP do we start on, it's January 1st, 2111. The Yggdrasil was finished on this day.
How does the show business work now:
Channels that monitor superheroes affiliated with them are marked in Hero Genre, and the more watchers they have, the better their ratings (obviously). There are, surprisingly enough, no set regulations, so heroes are free to go as rough as they want, though it's usually bad for business if heroes fight among each others, unless it's a verbal argument portrayed in an endearing light.
Each channels are stylishly named and have their own sponsors which are just regular businesses and companies.
Some channels have ulterior motives. Some could be rebelling against the current state of the world--some are actually villains in disguise. Feel free to go wild.
How linear is this RP?
Simply put. Not at all! There's no strict plot. It's not going to be a neverending spiral of heroes fighting bad guy, get ratings, go home and win. It's a dystopian RP, in a sense that most people are more braindead than a zombie. They pretty much don't care about their own safety, feels nothing about real people risking their lives to protect the worlds, or the possibility of them dying. And well, the government would rather keep it that way. That's why they created the Yggdrasil.
And chances are, there are landforms that weren't destroyed that the government hid away by 'regulations' that will lead to the current civilization to remember their past, I guess.
At the possible end of this RP, things either get better or worse. You guys decide.
Character Form:
Details, details...
Superheroes: those affiliated with a TV channel and actively fight crimes. Powers common, but optional. Their real identity is obscured to the public, unless they're a robot.
Civilian: doesn't appear on TV, obviously. May or may not have powers. Note that they're also capable of being evil, but not well-known as an evil person.
Supervillains: those who actively wreck havoc on live broadcast, known by the public. Their real identity? Optional.
The last form is;
Channel: a short form describing, y'know... Should be obvious.
There are four 'species'.
Human: ... need I explain? If they can be considered a cyborg, you are free to put them as one. Gets their powers from radiation. Their powers tend to be more... 'physical' in nature.
Artificial human: This wasn't meant to be so detailed at first, but artificial humanity was a concept invented since during the war times. Genetic-altering was a very common experiment back then, but it involved into full artificial human creation after some time. Artificial human were made to be sentient, living weapons. They're like defective androids, because they grew to think like an ordinary human.
Since artificial humans killed many and not all were obliterated, stigma against this species remained up to this day. Now, artificial humans are regarded with fear, no matter how many of the species have gone passive. They're treated like second class citizens, and it's easy to be exploited if you're an artificial human.
Artificial humans can be differentiate from normal humans by a blood test. Artificial humans have White-Red Blood Cells instead, rather than separated RBCs or WBCs like ordinary human. They're immune to radiation, and their powers are completely natural (and slightly more potent). They're capable of reproduction despise being 'artificial'.
Due to discrimination, artificial humans tend to hide and form 'gangs' of their own.
Android: Android is considered a toned down version of artificial human, though they have a fully synthetic body. Although the concept came long before artificial human, it was finalized after everyone learned that putting brain in a fake body might not exactly go well. They are semi-sentient, but they're capable of becoming fully sentient.
There are strict regulations against an android being alone. One without an owner is considered 'rogue' and ordered to be destroyed. Some androids that surpassed their programming relate to artificial humans on a personal level.
Since they're still more organic than robots, they're capable of powers, but they're not too potent with that.
Robot: They have artificial intelligence, so they are 'sentient', but they are forced to abide by programmed limitations. Since robots can now grow on their own, they can get smarter to reprogram themselves, though no creators in human history have been idiotic enough to allow them to access their own programming. Robots are built to be workers in dangerous situations.
Robots cannot develop special powers, since their body cannot sustain such matter, though they tend to be immune to the potent sort of powers. They're only capable of using physical weapons.
All of these can be a superhero/supervillain. Androids and robots are probably bought/created by a sponsor and given to a channel, and do I need to explain for human and artificial human?
Please remove everything in parenthesis when you post the bio. You can post the bios in another thread (here).

I'll create a separate thread for bios, so we can keep track of our characters there.
Rules
- Absolutely no godmodding. This is a no-brainer.
- Just because the plot is non-linear doesn't mean you're free to derail the plot to make it goes your way. Whether the end is a happy end or not is up to everyone, not just you.
- Please don't make your characters flat and have absolutely no depth. Every characters are capable of affecting the plot, you just have to play your cards right.
- Please don't post one RP sentence and call it a day. This isn't one of those FNAF RPs.
- RP according to the settings. If you're unsure a piece of technology has been invented yet or not, ask me.
- If you're quitting the RP, please don't quit when your characters are all in the middle of something important. I can't do anything about it, but I'm going to side-eye you really hard.
- If you come back to the thread to a lot of posts, please read all of them so you don't miss anything. Don't skim, otherwise you'll miss details. Don't ask for a summary, we can't cover everything and well, you're RPing, you should be able to read, right...?
If any details written above are confusing, please let me know and don't assume on your own. I'm bad at explaining/narrating, so you're bound to be confused or have one of your questions unanswered.
