As you can see, its a edit. But its actually someone's fursona. Well, first of all.. Originality. Its clearly not very original. Two, it stole art from Bambi and used it as a base. Third, watermark. It does have some things I do not like. The species is a bit over-used, but hey, at least its a mix. And the colors are over-used. Still a great fursona though! |

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but is such criticism really necessary? The whole point of a fursona is representation of one's self through an anthropomorphic animal character. Regardless of how overused certain things are on the character Umby, it is their choice how to represent themselves. And unlike the Bambi "oc" you used as an example (in regards to technical art stealing), I didn't see anything wrong with Umby. Besides, it's really the personality and behavior of the fursona that truly makes it a good or bad character.
Indeed, it is your own personal opinion. And yes, it's up to Umby to take it seriously or not. Regardless, I'm not a huge fan of those who critique a character strictly based upon their design. Someone could create either a plain brown Dutch Angel Dragon, a rainbow fox, or something so unique it makes Picasso cry. But any one of these designs should be accepted, because it is how the creator wishes to be portrayed. It's not a matter of originality. It's a matter of creative freedom, fun, and personal representation. As long as there is no character infringement or art stealing, all fursonas are beautiful and unique in their own special way.
Once more, I do not mean to be rude. I merely recommend to keep criticism of fursona designs to an absolute minimum and remember that originality isn't everything. Just some advice to make sure no misunderstandings happen in the future. <3

No I am not perfect either, my fursona also falls under the category of overused being as she is a wolf but I criticise my own artwork too. And the Bambi picture.. I found it on Deviantart and it said that anyone can use it for things like that and that is their old fursona when they were seven. I understand you mean no harm but I just wanted to point out the flaw in your.. Mind if I call it argument? |
