I am currently applying to a couple of colleges (Iowa State, UNI, etc.), and I intend to study veterinary sciences.
And... here's a school story.
This was during my junior year in high school (They call it high school in the US. In Ukraine, education is more complicated, so I won't even try to figure out where I would be in terms of Ukraine (my home) education.) I had a really nutty English tutor since English is an absurdly difficult language to learn. Let's call him... Mr. Barukovich, because that's a really generic Ukrainian last name. Here are a few occasions that he drove me up the wall in frustration.
-Once, Mr. Barukovich asked me to read pages 983-1022. The book ended at page 317. -He handed me a fifty dollar bill and told me to go buy him some sushi. What am I, his assistant? -He made me recite the Cat in the Hat book. At the time, I was fifteen. REALLY? -He brought a stuffed (not the cute, fluffy kind) cat into the room we were studying in and said it was bring your pet to work day.

That tutor sounds like he was not the nicest guy. I would be frustrated too.
And that's awesome what you're wanting to study!

I agree. My English teacher at the time suggested him to me, so... maybe I asked the wrong guy, since he had a generic name (e.g. John Smith).
I'm glad someone supports what I want to study! My mom thinks I should be a lawyer and my dad thinks I should be a chiropractor (I refuse to follow in his footsteps), but I love animals and think being a veterinarian is the path for me.
btw, are you going to study(ing) something in college, or are you not going to college?

I believe that you should go for whatever you want. If working with animals is where your heart lies, then that's definitely the path you should take!
I am in college right now. I am majoring in Computer Science.

I don't get why parents care so much about what their child does in college. It's your life, not theirs. Plus, its not like a vet only makes 20k a year either.

My mom asked me about doing nursing when I was still considering majors, but I went with Computer Science instead.

I'm glad my parents never cared about whether or not I went to a university, to be honest. Got enough people that tried to convince me to do that instead of what I'm doing now, which still annoys me lol. Be glad that I know what I want to do and simply know that going to a university would not make me happy.
I don't even know why other people always think it's their business, anyway.xD

It's a bit different here. Most have to have some college education to get a good paying job to live off of.

Mm, I mean, people try to make you go to university here because you earn more that way in a job, but yeah, it's certainly possible to get one without university here. That's what the dual education is for. Though, tbh, it's still startling to me how much college costs for you guys. It's basically free here.

It's crazy experience to go to college here. I have a scholarship, so that helps at least.

If I want to get a scholarship, a good one, then I have to take a lot of specific classes. Most of the people who have gotten the scholarship have played tennis as well, so that's another reason I decided to go for tennis.

By the time I’m out of physical therapy grad school I’ll be around 150k in debt, if I even get in. It’s super competitive

I am using the Tennessee Promise scholarship and the Hope Scholarship, currently. I got another one that I will use along with the Hope when I transfer in the fall. I'll be living on the college campus and not at home anymore.

I want to eventually major in Computer Science, too. Next year, I'll try to be the new coding class that my school is getting, and I hope that the year after I can take the second part of that class. I don't know if any of these classes could lead to me getting a scholarship, but I know that there are a few ways to get one that don't seem that hard. Even if the classes don't lead to one, I'll still take them. The teacher who teaches that class is probably one of the best teachers I've had, (I'm in a different class that he teaches) and if he teaches coding the same way he teaches the class I'm in, then taking it will be a simple way to gain some experience in coding.
