Thankfully it's not like that now that I'm in college.

I'm currently a Sophomore in high school and so far it has been decent. My freshman year last year was a blast though. I'm not sure what my junior year holds. I hear that's the hardest and most important grade. High school is a billion times better than middle school for me. With the exception of 7th grade, middle school was mostly terrible. 6th grade was just bland and boring, and that was back in 2014 when music IMO was at its worst, and when Iggy Azalea hit her peak. It was definitely not the best time to be in middle school. 7th grade was fun though and the only good year of middle school for me. Despite being at the peak of my middle school years, I did make a lot of friends and hang out with them. It was the least stressful grade because I was no longer at the bottom but I still had a year left to go. 8th grade in 2016 was hell. We had to do ballroom dancing unless it was against your religion or something, and back then I wasn't really feeling confident in myself. I had excessively sweaty hands, so I just put my sleeves over my arms while dancing. It did get better over time though but I still hated it. I didn't really meet a lot of new people this school year either. 2016 (8th grade) was the absolute worst year of my life. However, I'll always have a soft spot for late 2016, as that was when I started high school and it was such a fresh breath of air from the terrible middle school years. I became a lot happier again, made new friends and started hanging out with them. I remember in November 2016 when Trump got elected and all my friends decided to do was talk about politics. That was all I heard that day. I couldn't go to at least one class without hearing the name "Trump" at least once, and I heard it a billion times at lunch since I sat with one of my friends who is like an expert at politics lol. I didn't even say anything because I'm not really a political person. 2017 (my freshman year) was such a great time period in my life. I already miss it now. I made so many friends and hung out with them in the summer. 2018 (my Sophomore year) has been decent so far. Met a few new people. Still a billion times better than 8th grade though.

Hi welcome to the forum!
Middle school was quite a long time ago for me, 6-9 years ago, but they weren't my favorite years for sure. I was new to the state, as I'd just moved from the coast of Alabama to Tennessee. I didn't know anybody, especially at first. I was lucky to meet one of my best friends to this day in 7th grade, but she was really one of the only friends I had in middle school.
High school was certainly better all around, and not just because of the friends I had. I just enjoyed my time in high school a lot more than I did in middle school. So, I can see where you're coming from on a lot of this.

I absolutely hated Middle School. I was in the US at the time, and went to a crappy school. My mother had started dating again, and the guy was honestly a jerk. He was abusive and my mom was mentally distressed at the time, so she didn't see any problems with him.
The teachers at the school were strict and uncaring. They gave all of the homework at the start of the year, so I had to stay up until midnight to complete it. I couldn't hang out with friends to do homework, and the only time I stopped was when my mom's boyfriend had some excuse to beat me or to eat.
We also had unsanitary conditions in Science/Chemistry. They didn't provide goggles while we were doing experiments. I had to bring my own. My friend went blind because they didn't provide goggles. The kids who couldn't bring goggles either couldn't do the experiments or had to put up with fumes, splatters, etc.

My parents were never happy with C's in grade school either. But now it's different. C's get degrees.

My mom wasn't too strict on grades. I think the lowest grade I have gotten was a C-

I haven't gotten but one C. It was in middle school, in the same semester that I missed 10 school days in a row due to the flu.

✞~Spottedleaf ~✞, it's a relief to hear that you're in college! I'm a senior in high school so I'm about to graduate and all. I was kind of worried I would be some creepy old chick lurking around in warriors roleplay forums, haha. How do you like college so far?

I am one of the oldest people who go on here, but it's nice that some people are not too far from my age. If you are a senior in high school, I'm guessing you're 17 or 18? I'm 20.
College is going pretty good so far. I actually attended a community college for two years. I was supposed to finish with an Associate degree there, but because I had to move early in 2017, I was unable to finish everything I need for it. The community college I went to has four different locations in my state. I probably moved to the smallest one out of them all, so my the classes I needed were not offered there. If I wanted to take them, I would have had to drive all over the place. The other campuses are all at least an hour away. Since that's obviously too much driving, I will not be finishing there. Instead, I'm moving on to a university in August. I am a bit nervous about that because I still live with my parents, so I haven't experienced what it's like to be on my own yet.
Compared to high school, I prefer college. It's nice getting to pick your own classes and pick what time you want to take them. Of course, you can only choose from the options you are given, but at least you have options. I was also able to take some classes online and on campus. I just recently finished taking a history class online. After that experience, I would recommend not taking classes like that on the internet. I had 28 essays, 15 quizzes, and 4 discussion posts between January and the end of April. If an easy class like history was that much work, I don't want to know what a different online class would be like.
Sorry to ramble so much. I just wanted to tell what it's been like for me since I've been in college. What are you thinking about majoring in?

Sorry for such a late response, ✞~Spottedleaf ~✞ . I thought I had responded earlier for some reason! I actually have already registered for classes. I'm a double major in English and History! I'm really excited, but also nervous because I'm taking 17 credit hours my first semester which is a crap ton.

That's nice! Are you wanting to be a teacher or something? Do you know?
17 hours is the most I've taken in a single semester so far. It was pretty hectic, honestly.

I do want to be a teacher, but I also feel as if one of college's duties is to teach me of what careers even exist out there. Being a teacher is the plan currently, but I'm not married to it. I just feel like there are more jobs that I don't even know about, you know?
Thankfully 9 hours out of the 17 are required classes for the whole school and should be very easy. I'm going to a baptist college so they're things like bible study and whatnot. I think I should be ok!

True. I hope to get an internship once I start at the University. Maybe not right away, but still. It'll be great experience and it will also give me a chance to see what it's like to work in the field I'm going to. Might be an eye opener.
