Sunset Blaze stepped back but didn't walk off. The two she-cats were arguing, but it seemed that it would go somewhere that would probably help him figure out who is the one behind it all.
Ice Mountain had a slight hint of guilt in her eyes, no matter how hard she tried to mask it.
"W-What? No!" Speckled Bird exclaimed. She glanced over at Sunset Blaze, her eyes were clouded with worry. Ice Mountain swallowed.
"There is no way Sunset Blaze is behind this all! I mean... He... He could be pretending," The spotted tabby she-cat glanced over at Sunset Blaze.
"I have Speckled Bird under my control."
No don't blackout...
"You said it yourself, you can't trust anyone," Ice Mountain pointed out. Speckled Bird shifted her paws. The other she-cat could tell that she knew as well.
"You have to trust someone, Speckled Bird," The silver she-cat continued, "I know it's kind of weird coming from me, but you
have to trust someone,"
"Or you crack and fall..."
Speckled Bird sighed, "Not like trusting will do any good," She mumbled. Ice Mountain blinked with confliction.
"You don't believe what you're saying, I can tell," Speckled Bird looked directly into the silver she's eyes. Ice Mountain hardened her gaze, standing firm, tail lashing.
"Fine, I'll speak my mind," Ice Mountain spoke with a sudden edge.
"You're a traitor, I'm a traitor, we're all traitors. This isn't worth it, ArcaneClan is better off gone at this point. ShimmerClan is better off gone. GladeClan is probably the best off, in my opinion. The spirits approved them, might mean something good," She growled.
Speckled Bird listened, her ears flattening down to her fur. She was scared.
"I just wish things would go back to the wa-" Speckled Bird was cut off,
"Why?" Ice Mountain said, "Why back to the way it was? Alpine Echo is ruining the clan at this point, further than he already has... Just like his mother, and everyone before him," She growled.
Speckled Bird narrowed her eyes at the silver she-cat when she said 'Alpine Echo', clearly being defensive.
"So you're just going to casually bring up that event again?" The spotted tabby growled. Ice Mountain flinched, her eyes glinting with sadness.
"You just brought it up yourself, I'm still mad about it," She muttered, her tail lashing. Speckled Bird frowned,
"It was just one thing he did!"
"Murder.
He murdered my parents, he
murdered a cat that did nothing wrong," Ice Mountain snapped, "Don't defend Alpine Echo like he has done nothing wrong." Her gaze became as cold as harsh leafbare winds, though there was a small flame that ignited within it. It sent a chill down Sunset Blaze's spine.
Speckled Bird stared down at her paws. There was a great silence between the two.
"You know what, you should use your own words from earlier," Speckled Bird changed the subject. Ice Mountain looked angry for a few moments, but sighed,
"I know,"
"I'm... I'm just stupid under pressure, just ignore what I said, alright?" Speckled Bird tried to make amends with the silver she-cat. Ice Mountain turned away from Speckled Bird. She didn't want to look at her.
"That's fine, that's fine... We just have to stick together, like we used to," Speckled Bird smiled, but Ice Mountain didn't return any glance. Her smile shrank into a look of sadness.
"You know... That reminds me," The spotted tabby started, though without a reply, "Do you remember that ShimmerClan leader from the stories?"
There was a muted hum from Ice Mountain before she slowly turned to give Speckled Bird attention back. She didn't look happy, but she was complying to think aloud with her.
"Light Stalk?" Ice Mountain answered.
"Surprised you remember her name! Yeah, you know how she was said to be insane? Or something? Like... Like... Neglected her whole clan, it almost getting destroyed by her very paws," Speckled Bird explained.
"Why do you remember this so vividly? Explain yourself," Ice Mountain questioned with a hint of amusement.
"Nevermind that," Speckled Bird frowned, "The stories said during her final days before she mysteriously died she was muttering about...
The revenge of the darkest and something about some weird lights and stuff,"
"I never really thought about the story until the weird memory loss business then the rogue attacks. I gathered some interesting pieces of information when talking to a couple of ShimmerClan cats that there was a point in their history that it happened," Speckled Bird grinned.
Ice Mountain jumped, "Woah, woah, woah... What? First off, how did you have a civil conversation with ShimmerClan. Secondly, that is interesting and I wonder if this is all linked to something much bigger than we realize,"
Speckled Bird smiled and laughed.
"Bargaining is amazing, you should try it. Also, I don't know how we'd figure that one out... Guess we'll know soon enough,"
The orange-and-white tom had been standing there for a while. The two of them glanced over at him, finally acknowledging he was still there.
"Well, I guess we're going to form the
Secret Trio, where we figure out what in the world is actually going on," Speckled Bird giggled. Ice Mountain sighed,
"I suppose we should probably trust Sunset Blaze. There is no way you can fake blacking out, right?" She thought.
Speckled Bird thought, and shrugged, "Dunno, oh well, not like we gave him any information, haha,"
"Haha, yes.
Don't murder us, or we will not share little secrets again, cause we'd be dead,"
Ice Mountain glared at Speckled Bird.
"We best sleep; patrol tomorrow," Ice Mountain reminded her. Speckled Bird jumped, and bolted to her nest, without saying a word.
āāāāāāā
a. Get some sleep as well
b. Talk to someone else (I'd like it if I get a name of who ;D)
