(Okay.... geez I haven’t done this in a long time.... so what’s the count down for?)
I take out a lighter from my pocket to be able to see.

-4 (It's for kill or save, with -20 being kill and +20 being save. The current character is England)
The lighter illuminates the room. You can see that the walls and floors are built out of stone brick. The room is empty and the ground is covered with a layer of dust. There seems to be some sort of writing on the wall, as well as small cracks.

I head over to inspect the writing on the wall.

The words are too faded and worn to read. You trace your finger over it from left to right - until you feel something strange. It's a stone button. Just by touching it you activated the mechanism. A tunnel about as tall as a large dog opens up.

I toss one of the burnet scones into the tunnel to make sure the cost is clear then I proceed into the tunnel and leaving behind a scone-trail (like hansel and gretel’s trail of bread)

The tunnel was actually quite short in length and you make it out on the other end completely unscathed. You turn on your lighter again, and you find yourself in something similar to... a dog pound. Cages of various sizes were against the wall, but they were all empty. The iron bars were all rusted. Near the entrance to this room there is a table with several drawers, and an empty inkstand and quill.

Strangely enough, the table is not covered in dust. Neither is the diary that you pull out of the drawer. You crack it open. Fortunately, it's all written in English. Careful handwriting - sophisticated cursive; it's that of a gentleman.
The most recent entry reads: "It has been so long but I believe freedom is finally in sight. I have lost track of the days she has kept me here. But unfortunately, my preparations are not yet complete... I was not expecting this to happen so soon."

I kind of laugh at the entry and flip back to read previous entries

-4 You know, this is how I'm picturing you: You flip back to previous entries. "Gordon Ramsay once again remarked about how the french onion soup tasted and looked like a soggy diaper." "I burnt some scones again." "How long has it been since I've seen America? Canada? Everyone else? That detestable frog can keep his distance, though." "I have finally acquired what I need to get out of this blasted place. Now, if only I could..." This particular entry looked like it had been tampered with by none other than England himself. He seemed to have crossed out the end.

I am thoroughly enjoying reading his journal. But also very confused. I check the other drawers to see if there are any other clues

You search through the rest of the drawers. They are mostly empty, but there is a little slip of paper in one. It seems to be a page that fell out of the journal. On it, he wrote: "... is required for te....port......ion... . Because I do not sense any sort of magical barrier there is a very strong likelihood that this plan will succeed. What is also .... ....an bring the familiars into this dreadful place...... with great sa....ness that I must do this but it is for my........vival."
Parts of the entry are blotted out from tea stains, making them illegible.

I put the journal and paper in my pocket and check the room for anything else that might be useful

After this ends, I might as well write out the rest of that journal and put it here just for laughs
There's nothing of value to take in the room, but you do notice something peculiar. One of the doors to the cages was open. It was a larger one, around the size of a horse stall. One could easily wander in, and you did. If you expected to find a wall in the back, you'd be surprised. Bricks had been removed from the wall - very cleanly, with the stone bricks put into a pile in the corner of the cell - revealing a wide corridor that led... somewhere.

I agree you should definitely do that
I take a brick and start walking through the corridor
