Although I've owned Nintendo consoles most of my life, I'd never actually played a Kirby game before until I got the most recent addition to the franchise for my birthday, "Kirby and the Forgotten Land"
I'm at approximately 45% completion and I'm really enjoying it so far.
Gameplay: 7/10
I originally wanted this game because you can do couch co-op on it, so that's one thing I really enjoy about it. You can add an extra player to accompany you as Bandana Waddle Dee. I would give more points if Banadana Waddle Dee had more versatility as a fighter character. As it stands, it's way more interesting and dynamic to play as Kirby than Waddle Dee. But it's still fun either way.
Each level has objectives/missions to complete, and some can actually be quite challenging. This is a great game if you enjoy a little bit of a challenge, but not extremely frustrating ones that take hours to beat.
There are also a lot of mini-games to enjoy the further you progress into the game. They're pretty simple, but cute and entertaining. They provide an extra challenge that are fun to do with a friend.
The most challenging part is definitely defeating the bosses without taking any damage. But personally I find the challenge fun rather than frustrating.
Visuals: 8/10
I haven't played other Kirby games so I can't compare this to them. But the visuals are pretty much what you would expect from a Nintendo game.
There are a lot of bright colors, diverse stages, and many adorable round things. All the enemies are cute so it feels bad to destroy them lol.
Story: ?
I don't know how it's going to end up but tbh if you're looking for a compelling story, this probably isn't it.
I wasn't expecting a story going in, though, so it isn't impacting my enjoyment of the game.
Sound: 5/10
The soundtrack is good and suits the game, but you hear the same few OST over and over again so the repetitiveness becomes a bit grating.
Overall I definitely recommend this game if you like Nintendo games and light-hearted action adventures. It's fun, cute, and a good option if you want to play with a friend.
I might add more updates as I progress in the game :3
