Jared watched the clock, waiting for his first class to start. The sooner it started, then sooner he could get out of this place. He watched as students slowly filled the room, a good majority of them continuing conversations they had started in the hallway, their voices echoing off the walls and making the room feel fuller than it was. Of course, those without his sensitive hearing probably wouldn't feel the same.
(Originally I had him going to math class, which is one of the few they have together, so should we just assume it's a class other than math, or that they have it together?
Jason heard the familiar thoughts of a group of people he never liked interacting with, trying to not make it obvious that he knew they were approaching, but making a small face of disgust for a second, before correcting himself.

(Let’s have math start the day. Besides, right now it’s the first week so it’s a good chance to get them to meet)
Poor Adrian. Star recognized one of those werewolves; one of them was excessively flirty to a point where Gabby almost did something. And that one was right at the counter to order. He tried to be quick with blending into the background but that idiot spouted a flirtatious comment clearly directed not at Adrian, but someone else in the cafe. She sighed and immediately got to work on two of the usual orders: espresso and black tea that had absurd amounts of milk in them. Personally, they couldn’t understand if that family loved the taste, nutritional value, or something else about it, but it was a little terrifying.
Adrian awkwardly told Jason and them the family’s orders(they were 8 strong and all wanted a lot). Thankfully, she was right on the money for those two of the orders, and those were quickly processed. However, the wolves caused a ruckus at seeing how fast those two were… there was a reason no one liked them, after all. Please say that the manager would do something helpful for everyone involved, because the family’s voices were getting into the higher range and it would be soon that Star would start actually feeling pain.

Ricco had gotten the class rooms mixed up. So it was a race in getting to where math was located. He understood now why humans didn’t run in flip-flops but he had gotten this far with them, and other shoes were weird. He had a bit of a weird run, almost like a duck as he was still getting use to the gravity up here. He was lucky that he had some minutes to spare when he entered the classroom, plopping down into one of the empty seats that was available. He felt a bit of like butterflies in his stomach, a bit of anxiety and nervousness. His first class above the surface. He was a curious being, naturally he glanced around at the other students. Wondering if they were like him, a supernatural in a way or just a regular human. He noted the student next to him was the guy with the noise cancelling that he saw earlier. “Hi, nice headphones.” He said, showing a bit of his teeth as he smiled but not much. His teeth weren’t exactly human, more shark like really.

Jared heard a voice beside him and looked up to see the strangely dressed guy from earlier. “Oh. Thanks.” he replied, noting that his teeth were pointed. He must be some sort of supernatural as well. “I'm Jared.” He seemed nice and wanted to skip the awkward hey,what's-your-name? Conversation. “..Nice shorts.” He added, figuring he should return a compliment since that's how he had started the interaction.

Mr. Gabriel Reynolds, the werewolf who teaches precalc, stepped to the front of the classroom and announced, "Alright kiddos, I'm Mr. Reynolds, and I'm a werewolf. Now, you may know that the school screwed up with distributing schedules, so not all of you are supposed to be with me, but just in case you didn't... now you do. The following students are supposed to be here..." He started listing off a few of them, notably mentioning, 'Jared Kendrick,' and 'Ricco Marino'. Mr. Reynolds continued, "I won't bother with any syllabus or ice breakers, but make sure to check in with me if you weren't called. Anyway, just enjoy your forty minutes. Take a nap. I don't know." He sighed and leaned back in his chair.

Jared heard his name called, verifying that this was where he was supposed to be, then gave a look of confusion when Mr. Reynolds said to do whatever he wanted for the next forty minutes. What would he even do? Play a game maybe? Would the guy next to him want to converse, or would he come off as annoying for attempting? He couldn't tell.

Ricco was about to respond but the teacher for the class had entered, made a small speech. He was a bit confused, so they were basically told they could do whatever for forty minutes? That was strange. “So thanks, shame that they didn’t come in a brighter color.” He said to Jared after the teacher spoke, not missing a beat. “It’s nice to meet you Jared, I’m Ricco, but feel free to call me Ricky.” He said with a bright smile and a small laugh. “So… is this normal for classes up here?” He asked with a slight tilt of his head, genuinely perplexed.
Elaine Sterling
Elaine looked up from her half-eaten muffin and tea to see a large group, probably a family come into the shop. But she kept to herself for the most part, the loud noise was a bit like white noise at this point. She wondered if she could ask the people that were long time residents for possible help. Maybe some more information about the old storefront buildings or maybe even the old relative. She wondered if she was allowed to put a kind of paper up on the board, the kind where people might put up missing posters of their pets, upcoming events in the area or services needed.

Jared shrugged, trying to recall. “Pretty much.” He replied. “..So.. where are you originally from?” He continued awkwardly. He hadn't seen him around before. He hoped he hadn't just not noticed him or something.

“Oh. Los Angeles. I moved here with my brother. So.. you lived in the ocean?” He added curiously. “What was that like? Surely it was probably normal to him, but what would it be like to be able to breathe water? Did he constantly taste salt? He had never met a person who lived underwater before.

Jared thought he heard his name again and looked up. Why did he look bored? He was looking straight at him though, so clearly he had been right about it being his name. Should he wave goodbye to Ricco? That would probably be too awkward. He got up and made his way over, honestly a little nervous. Was the teacher upset with him, or was he just checking in or something? Either way, he couldn't leave, he was gonna find out, so he figured there was no point in worrying about it, but of course, part of him still was. He gestured to his chest, hoping he would understand that he was verifying that he had been called. Speaking out in order to ask the question felt wrong at this moment.

Jared nodded slightly, not able to come up with anything off the top of his head, mainly because he was actually trying to think about it, then quietly went back to his seat. He let out a small sigh of relief, glad he wasn't in trouble, and also glad that this new teacher understood the full moon thing. He thumbed through a social media page where a person was going over pieces of code in a game they were making, being sure to wear headphones so people wouldn't hear and be bothered by it.

“The city of angels? Cool! Yeah-“ Ricco had been about to say only to be interrupted when the teacher spoke up. He watched as his new friend got up and walked up to where the teacher was sitting at his desk. First day of class was weird, first not doing anything in class but talk and now being called up one at a time. The surface schools were odd, but endearing. It was interesting to see the differences here, and there seemed to be a lot of fun and fascinating people here. He had been about to explain how he lived in the sea- only for his name to be called up. He had a slight frown, he had been hoping to talk more- but hey, the sooner he got done in speaking with the teacher then he could get back with Jared. He got up from his seat, hands in his pockets as he walked up to where the teacher was. He looked bored, sounded bored even. “You called?” He said with a toothy grin.
