Maplestorm Maplestorm shook her head. "Nonononononononononono, I can't do this," she breathed, despite feeling like her heart was going to stop from how fast it was going. "I need to be executed!" Alderpaw brushed himself against her, rubbing his muzzle along her lower jaw. "Maplestorm, don't do this," he begged. "I love you so much. You made a mistake, yes, but you can fix it." "I can't." Maplestorm wasn't sobbing or yelling anymore, but she was still shaking - and so was her voice. "You hate me, I know you do. Don't lie to make me feel better." Rootpaw opened his mouth to retort his mentor, but bit his tongue and held himself back. His tail fell to the ground and he looked down at his paws. "Alright, Nightclaw." He muttered. Rootpaw slunk away, not in the mood to here any more from Nightclaw. As Rootpaw padded away, he glanced towards the prey pile. Rootpaw's stomach felt as if it had a cold stone in it, however, so Rootpaw didn't feel up to eating. Instead, Rootpaw padded into the apprentice's den. He had already been on patrol that morning and felt as if he had earned a small nap- some time to himself after a long day. Rootpaw curled up in his nest, scrunching his eyes closed and desperately hoping to sleep. ( cr0wt00thJust so i dont keep you waiting. Also, how recently did Soot die? Would Rootpaw recognize him?) |

(Robinfoot was only a few days old when Soot died. He died 'cause some DarkClan jerks ganged up on him while he was alone.) Sootface Sootface summoned Rootpaw into a murky clearing. He stepped forward to greet the apprentice. "Hello, Rootpaw," he meowed. "My name is Hailclaw. Tell me, why did you go to sleep so early? The sun isn't even down." ( peony) Maplestorm Maplestorm looked over at Sparkfire. "Then that's the worst decision you'll have ever made," she murmured. "I don't deserve pity or your forgiveness. Rootpaw's fur stood on end, his eyes wide as he stared up at 'Hailclaw'. "I-I just wanted some time alone. I didn't mean to break the warrior code, I'm so sorry-" Rootpaw's throat seemed to close up with panic. The surroundings were vague and undecipherable, confusing Rootpaw even further. At the paws of the StarClan warrior, Rootpaw feared he had angered his warrior ancestors. A wave of resentment washed over Rootpaw. Do even my ancestors favor Sparkfire over me? Nobody said that napping was against the warrior code, but Rootpaw still was on edge. cr0wt00th |

Hailclaw "We are not angry with you," Hailclaw reassured Rootpaw, glad that the young cat had accepted his StarClan disguise without him even mentioning it. "In fact, we're proud that you stood up to those treating you unfairly. You're completely right, you know? Spark paw should've stayed an apprentice, even if it meant her kits would know her as one." He smiled slightly. "Come with me, young one," he requested. "I want you to meet my friends. They agree with you too!" ( peony) Maplestorm Maplestorm began shaking her head slowly. Rootpaw's shoulders relaxed at the warrior's comforting voice. "Really?" Rootpaw asked, padding beside Sootface and looking up to the warrior with awe. He couldn't believe it- StarClan sided with him! It gave Rootpaw some relief to know that at least his ancestors recognized him "Do you want me to do something about it? Is that why you called me here?" Rootpaw's brow furrowed with confusion. He couldn't imagine what they expected him to do- Rootpaw was an apprentice still, and Sparkfire already had her name. The damage was done. Rootpaw kept his eyes on Sootface as he was lead through the mist, not paying much attention to his surroundings. cr0wt00th |

Maplestorm Maplestorm mindlessly got to her paws. She felt Alderpaw nudge her towards her nest. Once she was curled up inside it, he brought a few poppy seeds to her. "You left these," he mewed gently. "Eat them, okay?" She nodded and did as she was asked. She laid her head down as Alderpaw climbed in the nest alongside her. His presence was comforting enough for her to fall asleep. Sootface Sootface nodded as they walked. "In a way," he murmured. Raising his voice slightly, he told Rootpaw, "You're here to train and get better, as well as to make friendships with your fellow trainees. You just have to agree that you'll be loyal towards us, and we can get started. If you train even while you sleep, then you'll show that Emberstar that you deserve your name too." ( peony)

Rootpaw nodded. The warrior's advice seemed logical to him- StarClan was going to help prove himself to Emberstar so that he could earn his warrior name. This made sense considering StarClan thought that Sparkfire's naming ceremony was unfair. Although, Rootpaw would have preferred his ancestors to speak to Emberstar directly. At the thought, Rootpaw's ears perked up. "Do you have a prophecy for me?" Rootpaw asked, deadly serious. He really needed to listen to StarClan if that were true. StarClan rarely visited cats, besides medicine cats and leaders. Rootpaw must really be special if StarClan chose to speak to him, of all cats. cr0wt00th |
