In grade school, I had quarters + semesters. There would be four quarters throughout the school year. The first one would last from the August - October, the second would go from October + December, the third would go from January - March, and the last one would go from March - May. We'd always get report cards at the end of each quarter. Semesters would go from August - December and January - May. We always had end of the semester exams, and then after the fall semester ended, we'd start our new elective classes.
