There is a Pastel Palettes event going on right now, and a DreamFes gacha as well. Have you seen the new Aya card? It is beautiful.

lol usually I don't pay attention to the stuff coming out in JPdori, but I did see someone post the new dreamfes cards this time. And I agree, the art does look great. I always feel like it's kind of weird to have high school girls dress up like they're getting married though... I dunno, I just think they should be in college instead of high school lol
Like in D4DJ, they have some high school bands, but they also have a band that consists of girls who attend university. They can cover some slightly more mature themes with that band because they are all adults.
Do you think making the characters older would be alienating for younger audiences? In Japan though, the high school setting is super popular in games and anime and stuff. I doubt that trend will stop any time soon, but sometimes I just wonder if it's necessary. Is it popular because there is something inherently interesting about the high school setting, or because it's easier to appeal to a younger audience, or because we have been socialized to enjoy the tropes of a high school setting?
sorry I turned your simple question into this it's just been on my mind lol

That is true. I think games and anime like this are aimed at teenagers, mostly.

Hmm... I wish there were statistics on like... the demographics of the consumers. I think that would be quite interesting data to analyze lol
Age and gender statistics would be interesting, and I think it would be interesting to know about gender/sexual orientation statistics as well. When I was in Japan, I was introduced to the game via a couple of males in my study abroad program. And I haven't ever met anyone else irl who plays it... but when i interact online with bandori fans I tend to assume we are all wlw lol

huh... for some reason i didn't think about that lol but yeah for sure, the results in Japan vs the worldwide server must be quite different
like I remember seeing some "top 100 anime of all time" lists for Japanese people vs USAmericans, and iirc many of the listed anime were different.....
that makes me think, it would be quite interesting to see a poll of favorite characters/bands/songs I saw some polls for this on a twitter thread, but I feel the data will be skewed since the only people answering will be the people who talk about bandori on twitter. So I'd like to know who is the most popular among general bandori players

I believe polls have been done by Japanese people as well. I googled it, and found a thread on Reddit discussing a popularity poll from Japan.

I went to go check out the one I think you're talking about, and the results are kind of surprising. and disappointing for me lolll I don't really understand why Kokoro is so popular, in JP or EN fandoms. And It's surprising to me that Aya did so well as well? Like that's actually so shocking to me lol I'm glad Kanon does fairly well here, but some of my other faves like Tomoe and Ako are so low on the list. It looks like the poll was from 2017-2019, so I wonder what the data would be like now, especially with the addition of more characters/bands. I tried following the link to the website but I'm not sure they do this poll anymore. A shame

Yes, that is the one I found as well. Aya is a pretty well-rounded character, she is down-to-earth and earnest. Perhaps they like that, in combination with her being an idol. I have heard that idols are quite popular in Japan.

Hm.... fair point For me, I always found PasuPare as a band less interesting because they are idols. It's one reason I couldn't really get into Love Live... I'm not so much a fan of the idol groups as I am of bands.
I really don't understand Kokoro's popularity though. I do like her but in both design and personality I find her less interesting than many other characters

I think people like how adventurous Kokoro is. She is always instigating advengures that wouldn't happen without her.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I guessssss lol I did think the Ragtime event was fun, but out of the characters involved I thought Sayo and Moca were the most interesting. Although... Kokoro's bird-finding skills were pretty amusing lol
Maybe I just haven't read enough of HHW's story. The main ones I like to read are PoPiPa and Roselia

Sayo is underrated. She has one of the most relatable character arcs, in my opinion.

I didn't love Sayo when I first read the Roselia band story. But reading more of her interactions with Hina have made her grow on me a bit I feel like my sister would really resonate with Sayo honestly
