“Dear, nobody will know.”
Icepaw’s ears swiveled in the direction of the voice, flattening herself to the ground as she heard approaching pawsteps. Her heart pounding in her chest, she feared her bright white pelt would draw attention, and if not that, the obnoxious beating of her heart, or her scent would give her away.
“I hope,” sounded a familiar voice, too familiar. Pinepaw! Icepaw felt a shiver run down her spine. Pinepaw was her brother. Who in Starclan’s name is he with?! She pondered, a sickening feeling arising in her chest, the pawsteps ever nearing her. “Mistycloud,” her brother spoke again, voice becoming an inaudible hushed whisper. Mistycloud! That wretched murderer! She could sit there no longer, with adrenaline pumping through her veins, she darted off. “Oh, foxdung!” came the panicked voice of her brother as he spotted her, racing after her,”Wait! I can explain!” he yowled after her.
What will Icepaw do?
A.Continue running, not giving Pinepaw a chance to explain.
B.Stop and confront Pinepaw.
C.Hide.
Icepaw halted, turning around to face her brother. She wanted an explanation. A justified explanation for why he was sneaking around with an actual piece of fox-dung. Maybe he plans on killing her. An unlikely reason, but it was what allowed the pretty white she-cat to stop herself.
"I-Icepaw.." Pinepaw stuttered breathlessly, chest heaving from chasing down his sister.
"What..what were you doing with that no good she-cat?" she questioned, her voice raised. Her fur was bristling, ears flattened against her head, claws digging into the ground.
The light brown tabby tom's gaze averted to the ground, his soft green eyes that always held such light were now dull and shadowed. "She's..she's not who you think..Icepaw!" as he uttered her name, he locked eyes with her.
Icepaw couldn't help but snort,"You're telling me that isn't Mistycloud? The Mistycloud?!" her fluffy white tail lashed. She couldn't believe what was coming out of her brother's mouth. Had he gone completely insane?! Mooning over some low life!
Pinepaw's fur fluffed up, and he extended his claws, tearing up the ground,"I mean she's not the evil cat we were told!" he hissed, adding,"And I love her. And you aren't telling anyone!" his eyes penetrated his sister's, dark and cold.
He no longer seemed like her brother-in fact, the glare he bestowed upon her sent chills down her spine. She felt absolutely horrified at the tom's behavior. He held an unflinching glare, teeth bared. Icepaw felt utterly hopeless. She was unsure how to react to the seemingly mad tom.
What will Icepaw do?
A. Continue arguing.
B. Just leave it be, and promise not to tell anyone.
C. Just walk away.
Icepaw somehow mustered up the courage to turn around, clenching her teeth. Just walk away. Figure out what to do later. She told herself.
Pinepaw growled lowly,"Where are you going?" he took a step towards her. Icepaw ignored him, squeezing her eyes shut for a moment as she walked away, a bit afraid of what he'd do. The brown tom bounded over to her, lashing his tail,"Hey, don't ignore me!" he snarled. Icepaw quickened her pace, her lips curled in a tight frown. The tension was unbearable. Won't he just leave me alone..
"Just leave me alone, Pinepaw!" she yowled threateningly, glaring at him,"I'll..I'll hurt you if you don't go away!" she warned. Pinepaw halted, searching her gaze. The white she-cat held his gaze, she was dead serious.
Pinepaw flicked his tail,"You're not telling anyone or you'll be the one getting hurt." He growled, spinning around, and trotting away from her, tail low, sweeping the ground. Hmph. She had no desire of returning to camp that instant. Once she lost sight of her brother, she dug her claws into a tall birch, hoisting herself up onto one of the branches.
Will finish this part after work.
