Hello, my name is Lily. As my icon may indicates, I'm a fan of Street Fighter. I have read only the 1st Arc of Warriors, so you won't see me talking about the series much.
I hope I will have a good time here, and make lots of friends. Nice to meet you all.
EDIT: Oh dear, and it appears I forgot to mention I'm a fan of Soul Calibur. EDIT 2: And JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, too. How could I... EDIT 3: Changed my screen name.

Oh dear, for some reasons, the forum didn't notify me of your reply!
It's great to see someone who plays Soul Calibur, too. And perhaps you should check out Street Fighter, haha! Preferably III: 3rd Strike, that one is the best, in my opinion.
Thank you for your warm welcome!

Oh no, they are largely different. Street Fighter is more of a 2D Fighter, your character move left and right, jump and crouch. However, Soul Calibur has your characters moving around in a 3D Environment. And never forget the Ring-Out system in SC.
SF's inputs are controller motions/keyboard motions + LP/MP/HP or LK/MK/HK, while SC just have you pressing A, B, or K. And of course, you just hold back to block in SF, while SC has its own separate block button.
SF is heavy on the defensive- slow. Honestly, I think SC is a mix of both defensive and offensive?

i really don't know why i don't know more about street fighter by now, but thank you for telling me some about it! it looks really fun and sounds easy to play, i think i'll have to pick it up next time i'm out. i agree with that about SC being defensive and offensive. i really like the 3D display for SC but i think i'd be interested in the SF layout

Yes, Street Fighter is a bit easy to play, though if there's 1 thing you have to really practice with about SF (4 anyway), your input timing has to be PRECISE. In 3, your input timing can be more flexible, in which case SF3 > SF4.
I wouldn't say Street Fighter is flawless by any means, but it's very easy to get into. That's why it have a large fanbase. (Though the fanbase makes me want to scream...)
