The leaves are changing color, the weather is getting colder, and the scent of pumpkin spice fills the air. More importantly, it's October. Time to break out that ghost sheet from last year or stealthily closet cosplay your favorite character from that one show you really like.
And did I mention that due to popular demand the Masquerade will be returning this year? The rules are pretty much the same as always, but here they are anyway because ya gotta have 'em.
- All costume accounts must follow the format [MASKED] Charactername as per Falcon's request. These accounts are temporary and meant to be used only for the week of the Masquerade. Once you have been unmasked, please change your username to "[UNMASKED] Charactername." Alternatively you can say you've been unmasked in your signature, or just do both.
- Do not create your account before October 24th, the day before the event starts. Please have the account deleted as soon as possible after the event ends. I can't actually enforce this rule, but know that if you break it I will side-eye you really hard.
- Please contact me somehow to let me know who/what your costume is. While I will be in costume, I will not be guessing for obvious reasons. All members that want to participate should send me a message to let me know who they want to be. Guembers can email me (mooglehasanemailadress@gmail.com) to reserve their costume. It is extremely important that you do this, as you will not be allowed to unmask other people until you do. If you can't be unmasked, it's not fair for you to unmask other people.
- All posts on your costume account should be in character. I suggest having two internet browsers open so you can be logged in to your costume and regular accounts at the same time to avoid suspicion.
- Throughout the week, try to drop hints as to your true identity. For instance, one year I was Nepeta Leijon from Homestuck, and had I not been unmasked on day two, I would have started using cat puns on my regular account.
- Please keep your in-character posts in Off Topic Discussions and Off Topic Forum Games. That way things will be neat and organized. If your character is an artist and you plan to give away clues through pictures then you can do so in the Off Topic Artwork section.
- All characters must be fictional. They can be a character from a book, movie, t.v. show, anime, etc., or even your own oc, but they must be fictional. This means you can't be a celebrity.
I noticed that few participants actually deleted their masked accounts from past years. If you forgot to, it would be great if you either went ahead and took care of that before making another, or just used the old one.
The event itself will be from October 25th to October 31st.
Prizes will be announced once the guessing thread goes up. They won't be anything too fancy, BUT at least the winner(s) will actually get them for once.
