Defection (Literate Roleplay) (O/A)

Introduction:
Many, many centuries ago, a nuclear war left most of the world uninhabitable. The small portion that was habitable was located in North America, Canada to be exact. Here rests the five cities that make up the rest of humanity; Bois (the city which specialized in wood, lumber and the crafting of things with those materials. Located in the middle of the habitable territory, in the middle of a dense forest), Eau (the city which specialized in water, hydroelectricity, and the hunting of sea creatures for food. Located on the shore of the Hudson Bay), Bovins (the city which specialized in the raising and killing of livestock for food. Located near the Great Plains), Ferme (the city which specialized in growing plants and other things for food or money. Located near Bovins), and Capitole (the capitol of the whole country. They specialize in manufacturing products and governing over the citizens. It's located basically everywhere else).
The remaining people worked hard to bring back civilization to the world. They named their country Monde because it was their whole world at that point. But eventually, the people became greedy, and they sought to expand their borders, and throw out their strict government that wouldn't let them choose their jobs. The government, fearing that they would lose control, made a deal with the people; they could expand their cities so that they didn't just specialize in one thing, if they agreed to separate themselves in ways that the government could control them. The government made up a plan that even they thought was ridiculous, but they wanted absolute control, so they made the people follow it.
The government inherited control over everything else, but tricked the people into thinking they had control. Falling under the dictatorship, the people quickly rebuilt society, however, they still weren't happy. They needed more space because of their growing population; they also needed more resources. What was the government to do? They couldn't let the people know they weren't all powerful by not helping them, but there was indeed nothing they could do; most of the world was wiped out.
Seeking out another deal, the government told them that if each family gave their first-born child to the government, that eventually the population and famine problem would no longer exist. Families did as they were told, but were not aware that the government was going to turn their children into officers that would keep the people in line. In the end, the whole governing system turned oppressive, and the people ended up with little control over anything.
Hating the government style, people started to defect. It was mostly teenagers, due to the fact that they believed that they were special; they also believed they could do anything. A small civilization popped up just outside of the safe zone, and the people there were rumored to have special powers due to the nuclear radiation in the area. So, can your character survive in the harsh environments outside of the safezone? Or will they fall victim to some of the creatures that live there?

Rule #2: No Mary-sues and no Marty-sues. Everybody has flaws, and nobody wants a character that has none.
Rule #3: No Meta-gaming. I will let you know if you do this.
Rule #4: No God-modding.
Rule #5: Please find a photo of your character. It can be someone from tumblr, google, etc. But when you do, make sure to cite where you got it from.

Note: This roleplay takes place in a small woodland area. The characters reside in a fairly large treehouse.
