Hello and welcome to ♚Meme Bird ♚ 's roleplaying school! I have created this because I have found that some people could use improvement on their roleplaying. This is a school for people who need help on their roleplay posts. This thread is used solely for improvement and so that others can learn more about creating posts in certain roleplays! This thread is not here to call out people or make them feel bad. It is here so that the roleplaying community can come together and learn from others. The people on this thread will be divided into three groups. Overseers, teachers and students.
Overseers are like your average moderators. They moderate the thread and oversee it. But they can also do much more! They have the ability to assign special students to specific teachers (with my permission of course), or give out tips and tricks on roleplaying (as I will be doing in this thread). As they are in a way, like teachers themselves, they can pass on what they know to both teachers and students alike. They can also create special threads regarding roleplay, or link to things that could help with post creativity and inspiration. They are also responsible for creating roleplay prompts for teachers and students to write about. As a bonus, they are also like co-owners of this thread, and look after it if I happen to go inactive.
Teachers are like mentors. They teach students that they are assigned, and give pass on their basic knowledge and skills to their students. They can also share tips and tricks as well with others in the thread, and motivate others to try doing new things.
Students learn from their teachers. They gather information and more knowledge on roleplaying so that they can create larger and more sturdier roleplay posts.
How this works: -Sign up as a teacher, a student or an overseer below. Note that I might be picky on choosing overseers.
-The prompts that the Overseers and I give you for roleplay are optional. Note that the topic for roleplay all depends on the teacher and student, however.
-To make sure that you do not spam both the roleplaying sections and this thread with 1x1 rp posts, teachers please make sure to create those rp posts in the form of PMs between you and the students.
-Teachers can be taught and learn from other teachers as well (this includes overseers)
This is one of the most basic roleplaying guides to help build up your posts. In this paragraph, we'll include the actions of your character, their emotions and thoughts as well as adding detail. Shall we begin? Let's start off with our example character, Spiderpaw
Post 1 Ex. Spiderpaw gasped as the fox smacked him on the side of his head and he felt pain.
This is our simple basic sentence. Doesn't seem all to descriptive, does it? What could we add to this post to make it sound me refined? Let's slowly go over this sentence again and edit it. Let's put in Spiderpaw's thoughts. How does he feel when attacked by the fox? Remember, if you don't add feelings and thoughts to your characters in your post, it'll make your character boring and bland. We don't know how he feels. That makes it less interesting. Posts like this will leave the person who's supposed to be responding unable to know what to write if they don't know how your character feels. The example above is what is called a 'oneliner'. And you do not want to do this. Oneliners can more often than not leave your rping partner with writer's block. Let's edit that sentence shall we? And put some emotion in it.
Spiderpaw gasped as the fox smacked him on the side of his head and he felt a stinging pain. He panicked. What would he do?
See what I did there? Now this is an okay sentence, but it is far from perfect. I added some detail in the post on what my character was thinking. What was he feeling when the fox attacked him? Well now we know. He is panicking. And note that I took the words 'and he felt pain' from the end of the sentence on the first example. Instead of simply putting 'he felt pain.' I turned that into something new and and gave an example of how it felt. This has something to do with my next edit. You'll see how this falls into place. Now time to add some detail!
Spiderpaw gasped in terror and shock as the fox smacked him on the side of his head with badger-like claws and he felt a stinging pain. He panicked. What would he do? He backed away slowly, his wound still stinging and blood ringing in his ears.
Now you see the more detail I added? I changed the post and I was a bit more descriptive on how the fox attacked and Spiderpaw's further reaction to it.
Great! Now you are a step closer to creating roleplay posts full of long, descriptive paragraphs!

and teachers Username: (the one you signed up with) Grayfeather Experience on RP: (how experienced would you say you are with roleplay?) Fairly experienced. I've been role playing for about six years now. e3e Words: (how many words do you write per roleplay post?) it varies depending on my muse, the length that the person before me has posted, and how long/descriptive the words are that I use. If I have a good, solid roleplay partner that gives me stuff to work with, then I can write 500+ words but if you give me a one-liner it's nowhere near that amount. I try to aim for 200+ words even on people that post only a few words. Max of students: (how many students would you like to have maximum?) 5 is probably the amount that I can handle. RP sample: (post it in a spoiler if you consider it too long or if it's be over 500 words) Sylvester woke up suddenly, the feeling of warmth in his pelt missing. His fur was spiked up from tossing and turning in his sleep, but he didn't spend any time on grooming his fur. He stretched stiffly before standing up straight and walked out of the den to see what needed to be done for the day. His dark eyes gazed around the camp, stopping on his apprentice, Swift. He was still one of the youngest warriors, and he wasn't exactly sure why he had an apprentice yet, but he enjoyed training another cat. He walked over to Swift and dipped his head.
"Greetings, Swift," Sylvester meowed, flicking the tip of his stumpy little tail, "Do you have a preference over what we train over today?" He was only asking because he enjoyed planning his day around what they would be doing. Sylvester enjoyed having a set schedule and sticking to it. He disliked the feeling of having no control over what would happen, so he always managed what was going on around him. This was a habit that had stuck with him since kit-hood. Specialities: (do you prefer to roleplay cats, dogs or humans?) I prefer anything honestly. I kind of draw the line at animals that aren't mammals though. Activity: (on a scale of 1-10 how active are you on this site?) Probably a 10 e3e Passcode: (leave this blank if you are not applying to be an overseer)
Sorry that the thing wasn't that long. I had to write it on mobile desktop version. t.t

He watched the scene unfold before him closely, leaning forward slightly in his perch. He made sure not to disturb the leaves as he moved, his movements fluid but relatively slow and wary, tail tip still but held high for added balance. It really was a good thing to have such a thing, a tail. He supposed not many people realized how useful it was, or really thought about it. He hadn't been born with it, but he always kept the ability activated. He rarely ever let it power down; honestly it was a part of him now. He felt more powerful and in-tune with what was around him; who wouldn't like that feeling? It affected everything about him, from his senses to his appearance. When 'powered-down' he looked very different than he would normally; in a way, that ability was useful as well for undercover jobs, but he didn't enjoy it.
He listened to the exchange below him, tilting his head at the Hero's continuing apparent lack of memory. He didn't even know his own name! Interesting...he rolled his eyes at Rahs' words. She always enjoyed herself so much in front of her enemies on the battlefield; her behavior almost seemed foolish in his eyes. Though, she was younger than him by at least a century, so it made sense. He didn't doubt her combative abilities, oh no. He doubted her maturity and strategy, really. Of course, he would never reveal this to her, or anyone else for that matter. His thoughts were his own, as was the majority of him, actually. She didn't even know how long he'd been around, or his last name. Sorry, past last name. He didn't go by it anymore.
He looked up as he sensed another change in the air; a rush of energy that announced the presence of powerful magic. He gripped the branches below him tightly with his hands, lifting himself up into a steady - but bent - handstand to avoid his legs being cut off by the sudden appearance of large swords, no doubt summoned by the Hero, Sidren. They spread out in a large circle around the clearing, somewhat blocking the escape routes. He remained in that position, turning his head to gaze back down at the pair as they circled each other, like two predators. In a way, they were. While his position looked awkward and uncomfortable, he held a surprising amount of control over it, remaining still and steady in his strange position. When he was sure the swords wouldn't zero in on him and attack, he lowered himself back into a crouching position on the branches.
He continued to look down at the scene, blinking and not emitting a sound, his tail kept close out of wariness. He showed no signs of fatigue; he didn't feel the slightest bit tired, actually. He would be a pretty poor assassin if he was tired after just this. In all honesty, he was excited. It wasn't every day he got to see the Hero of Blades and Rahs face off! He wished he had some cake or something to enjoy the show with..
He was pulled from his thoughts as he sensed something new, very different from the others. It blew past him; he picked up quiet whispers from it, echoing in his sensitive ears. A spirit? He looked around, eyes narrowed cautiously, but his movements appearing curious. A moment later, he heard the caw of a crow, looking up to see a bird flapping away into the trees. A spirit-wielder was here? Well well well, things were certainly getting interesting! Very interesting indeed. He smiled with glee, looking around, his eyesight not hindered in the least by the lack of light among the shadows. He almost saw better than he did during the day. He noticed movement close by, watching the figure closely as it climbed up into the branches not far off. So they were among the audience too. He wondered if he should remain hidden as he was, as he knew they were probably already aware of his presence. He didn't know much on their people; they weren't the most open with information. He did know they had some control over various spirits, and could use them for many different tasks. He wasn't clear on the full extent of their use, but they had been used for scouting ahead before. He could only assumed they were aware he was present. He knew he could handle himself very well, and didn't sense a particularly dark purpose from them. So he moved some, simply raising his hand and waving, giving them a cat-like grin. Though it looked strange - and almost frightening in the moonlight - it was simply how he smiled.
He didn't make a move to speak or do anything else, returning his gaze to the fight below. So they started already! He watched eagerly, leaning forward slightly in interest, noting their movements. Not only was this fun, it would provide him with more info on how they fought and their strategies. He was becoming glad he decided to follow the injured pair in the first place; this was turning out better than he thought it would. Boredom was just a memory now.

It says so on the teacher's form. The teacher can have as many students as they can handle.
