Humanity was already at its tip when the brightest of the bunch discovered all there was to magic, but the lesser scholars found something that could explained the infinite potential of magic, and was infinite potential in and on itself. That new 'something' was dubbed 'science', which later gave roots to 'technology'. Sorcerers and sorceresses, wizards and witches, bishops and clerics, and other users of magic felt that their power was threatened by technology who could replicate their powers, and was widely considered far superior. Rather than taking this new source of power and moving on with it to be even better, superior knowledge and arts of the past ended up being the downfall of humanity. The world shattered.
Remains that could no longer trace back to the powers of the past were all the surviving factions of humanity had left. A century flew by and although many of those powers from before were no longer comprehensible to human as of today, what were still known back then became the wings of hope this generation had to sail on. Combining both remains of technology and magic, although life was still there, they had no chance to go back to their roots.
Now humanity live a timeless life, no sun, stars or planets to help them tell the time. The starless space was painted red by the arts of magic, and wreckage of materials technology used float around as wreckage. A little luck was on humanity's side, because some resources barely remained to be used by this generation of humanity.

Hello, I'm the RP creator, Ivy~ If you want a meta explanation of the RP, you're free to get one from me. I won't get annoyed by your questions, though I'd probably point out where I already put it in the FAQ below~
If I have to describe this RP with a genre, well, I'd say Fantasy + Sci-fi or 'magipunk' as I like to refer to the mix as~ If I can explain this RP by comparing it to another series, I'd mix One Piece, the Tales of series and BlazBlue all together into one~ But that probably doesn't give you enough ideas.

WORLD LORE
The galaxy have effectively been reduced to an empty, reddish-colored universe with occasional remains of asteroids, planet crusts and structural wreckage floating around. The core of each planets remain there, but it's impossible to get too close to the core since magical extracts have formed a membrane around the cores.
Humanity now live on airships, forged from human ingenuity despise the fact knowledge of the past has disappeared. Imagine regular ships we see in real life, except in space. They are actually more complex, and well, 'magical', so I'll write a section for that.
The reason humanity can breath in space is because of high mana condensation, which naturally creates oxygen.
Another dangerous part of space is the 'Dark Space'. The Dark Space are far from the remains of planet cores. Its coloration is also more purplish in color. The creatures listed above are more common in Dark Space, which are said to be their origins. The mana condensation is unstable, so it's almost impossible to breath in Dark Space. And the area is rife with black holes.

DANGERS
Mana, the power magic streams from, can conjure anything and everything, including life itself. Naturally, some creatures straight from the underworld were born. Here are the most common:
Cnidarian: a jellyfish-like creature, whose body is solidified, gel-like mana. They spit liquefied, venomous mana from the hole in their body. They're predatory. Many variations exist. A deadly one in particular, named the Cnidarian Probe, doesn't spit venom, but rather attempt to attach itself to a head of a living being to control their nerves like a parasite. They look brain-like. One that attaches itself to a chicken is called Possessed Chicken. Another variation exists called the Golem Cnidarian, half of it being made out of sturdy rocks.
Deathwing: a deadly, avian, yet ethereal creature. The most notable part about it is its speed, and the worst of all; its stealth is impeccable. It's impossible to pass by a Deathwing undetected. It's said they detect other creatures with supersonic. Deathwings doesn't discriminate when picking its fight, and they fight even among themselves.
Kitsune: despise its name, it looks nothing like the legendary fox. It is a possessed, glowing comet, whose aura trails off with tails of varying number. The highest number of 'tails' it can have is 9. It breaks itself and hurls its fragment at a passing ship. It can automatically regenerates, and the comet itself is unnaturally sturdy. It's almost impossible to destroy this creature without enough firepower.
Alien: no one know what else to call walking, territorial skeletons. They can 'swim' in space unhindered, and directly attacks ships by infiltrating it. They have a 'heart', protected by their hardened ribcage, which is also made sturdier by a crystal barrier which formed from mana. Their heart is actually glowing mana, as expected, and also its weakness. These walking dead can fire projectiles from their 'eyes'.

REGARDING RESOURCES
"So Ivy, how did they find food and resources to use before? And how are they still alive up to today?"
"So Ivy, how did they find food and resources to use before? And how are they still alive up to today?"
In-series history lore-telling time. Not all of Earth is lost. Not all of other planets are lost.
Part of Earths have scattered, yes, but they are trapped in bubble-like membranes formed from high mana concentration. These parts are completely static, and airships are installed with gigantic tools that allow them to break the membrane open. Common food found in membranes tend to be field of crops. Airships bring the field onto their vehicle, and grow them in their lowest deck. You usually just need to find one food source to live.
For water and minerals, they are contained in asteroids floating around in space. Mine them. You know the drill. Water in asteroids need to be purified first, but all airships are built with a purification machine for water, anyway.
For meat, there's a creature since ancient civilization that still survives up to this cycle. Chicken. They've been magically-engineered to breath and travel in space, and they reproduce quickly, so you could literally find a bunch of chickens floating in space together, and lots of eggs just flying around.

CIVILIZATION
Other than being scattered into small groups, all living on their own airship? There are two factions or organizations that I'd like to talk about.
By the way, families don't have surnames anymore.
They still count ages by years, and they know that because the core of Earth still revolve around the sun for some reasons.
Ships are built with a unique power core, which powers not only the entire ship, but also a communication mainframe inside the ship. The mainframe sends a signal to the core of the ship the person who's making the call chose. It's like Skype video chat, to put it in a less eloquent, yet more understandable way.
There is no currency used for the economy; there's only bartering with resources.
Now, for the two factions.
The Universal Fleet:
+ A huge organization one enters, but cannot leave by any other means beyond death. Strict regulations is the price to pay for a certain survival. The fleet has a little above a hundred ships, and at least a thousand human are with the fleet. Their motto is "Survival lies beyond Curiosity".
The fleet is lead by a man whose surname is only known; Mr. Lincoln. No one except his personal bodyguards on his ship has seen his face. The ship he lives on is the largest in the entire fleet, it is more heavily armed than the martial fleet and everyone know better than to cross him.
The fleet is separated into three regular flotillas, and two other special branches.
Liveship: Liveship flotilla has the least amount of ships, as a ship can only be put in this under a special circumstance; the ship has a family living on it, and there's a child that is not old enough to be moved to the education flotilla.
Worker: Workers must travel from the fleet briefly to search for resources trapped in mana membranes or asteroids on occasion. They are allowed a communication mainframe, so they can communicate with the Leader ship. Despise their jobs, they are not allowed to stray too far from the fleet to the point signal is lost. Not only that, they must also grow their own food.
Martial: The lawkeeper ships of the fleet. They are heavily-armed, and are considered the 'walls' of the fleet. The ships here vary in sizes. They are given orders by the leader ship, and must carry out these orders under any circumstances. Their communication mainframe only allow them to contact worker ships and the leader ship. They are not allowed contact with the civilian ships to avoid 'distraction'. There are no commanders, Mr. Lincoln gives all the orders.
Mr. Lincoln allow these ships to separate from the fleet temporarily to attack other ships with a bounty within the database. Sometimes, outsiders have wronged the fleet, and Mr. Lincoln is anything, but a forgiving man
+ Special Branches
Education: When a child from a civilian ship is at least 6 years old, they're formally moved to the Education flotilla, which is composed of at least 10 ships, 5 for educational facilities, and 5 are the dormitories.
Prison: What it says on the thin. The prison flotilla have only 3 ships, but these are all massive. Soldiers from Martial flotilla are often moved here to take care of prisoners.
+ Rules of the Fleet
The Guild of Scholars:
- A smaller organization, but perhaps a more open-minded one. They are a fleet composing of at least fifty ships, and they allow only those with a huge drive to learn to join their ranks, but they allow affiliation. Just that those outside affiliates are not allowed to call themselves part of the fleet.
They look forward to learning what lies behind the mana particles floating around just beyond their eyes. They believe mana alone could allow them to trace back to the past, back before the universe around them crumbled.
The fleet is governed by a circle of twelve lead scientists, named after constellations or zodiac signs. The fleet can be called somewhat of a representative democracy.
The Scholar Fleet looks forward to making contact with independent ships, and accept them as their allies. This organization has a general consensus that they will soon need the protection and favor of these allies.
They have an organized ranking system, separated into 3 branches:
Science & Engineering
They study remnants of technology, brought to them by the Exploration branch~
I. Rookie
II. Junior
III. Senior
IV. Analytic
V. Techno Whiz
Magic
While not all working in this branch are capable of using magic, their analysis of magic is impeccable. Those with magical capabilities are well respected, however.
I. Pupil
II. Apprentice
III. Mage
IV. Sage
V. Bishop
Exploration
If one lacks the brains, and only have the brawn, they're free to operate an airship and search space freely for remnant of history that the rest of the facility ship could study.
They are rated by star, up to 5. The entire ship's rated.

+ Rules of the Fleet
- Once entered, you cannot leave, except to the Afterlife.
- Mr. Lincoln is your King, your Lord. He is the reason you have the life you do up to this cycle. Worship him as you would a God as ancient civilization did centuries ago.
- Do what you are told to do with honesty, no reluctance or hesitation in your heart.
- Do not let your curiosity distract you from reality. Survival lies above all.
- You have only one reason to relax, and that is to take care of a child. But only one child (or a twin) is allowed. You must come in with one.
- Everyone is equal, but all second to Mr. Lincoln.

AIRSHIP
Appearance-wise, they look somewhat like this:
- The Flying Dutchman from Terraria
- The Flying Dutchman from Terraria
Perhaps a little more futuristic, but still relatively like that. They literally float in the air.
As mentioned in the Civilization section, these ships have a core, located near their communication mainframe, which is usually on the second deck. The core emits gravity, allowing humanity to stay on their ship. The core also repels the gravity of planet's cores, so the ship don't get pulled into it. It also blocks ray of distant stars that still exist up to this day.

POWERS & ABILITIES
Some human still retain the power to absorb mana particles in space into their pores to activate their ability. What they can do with magic is up to them. Knowledge on magic in this age is limited, only the Scholar Fleet knows most of it. They have yet to master their studies of it, however. So far, they have classified magical powers into four types:
Conjuring: creation of anything from nowhere, such as fire.
Altering: changing shape, appearance, or anything of an object.
Life-giving: healing. Reviving is part of it, but I won't allow anyone to give their character this.
Summon: creation of a lifeform.
You're probably curious if magic is the only form of combat--no. Weapons of the past like swords, guns, spears, etc. still last up to this day.
Although technology is scarce, and barely anyone know how to operate it, the Scholars do. Naturally, they've taken to using the power of technology in case of emergency.

WHAT DO PEOPLE LOOK LIKE NOW?
You will need this as a reference guide for designing your character for this RP~
Your characters are allowed to have unrealistically-colored hair and eyes, I don't mind. Mana probably altered human DNA a lot, so they'll look somewhat... odd or unnatural.

Universal Fleet Martial flotilla have their own unique uniform. It looks somewhat like this:
- Fullmetal Alchemist (how original of me...)
However, Liveship flotilla and Worker flotilla do not have their own form.
The Scholars all wear a unique cloak.

- Trinity Glassfille, BlazBlue
For independent characters, you can have them look like anything, really. Preferably nothing too casual that you would find in the modern world, however.
For example, this looks too flashy, right?

- Nozomi UR, Love Live
But it doesn't look too 'casual', so it's fine~
ROLEPLAYING STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS
This is important~ Don't skip this part.
This is important~ Don't skip this part.
Standards
+ You must be able to write a total of 3 paragraphs per post, composed of at least 3 sentences. This is easy by any roleplayer's standards~! Don't worry about using fancy words, I only need to know you have the patience to write enough to give enough details during a roleplay.
+ Naturally, you must have the patience to read. Please don't ask for a recap after only a page of posts.
+ You should be able to address simple, but important details when necessary. Please don't ignore questions.
+ On the other hand, it's not your fault if another person did not give you the time to respond. In that case, please leave gaps where others can respond to, so they have enough to write about and fulfill the simple 3 paragraphs quota.
+ I hope this isn't too demanding of your activity, but I'd like you to post at least twice per week, if you're really busy. If you have reasons, I understand.
Rules
- No godmodding, power-playing or metagaming~ I do not need to explain this to you, do I?
- I want you to be creative with your characters! Give them a flaw, something unique~ Don't make them too boring or too special, or it'll go wrong fast.
- Follow the lore perfectly (I don't mean follow the rules of the Universal Fleet perfectly, just saying...)~ If your character breaks the lore too much, I'm disallowing them.
- Please don't get really salty if the RP doesn't favor your characters all the time.
- No character limits, don't worry. Because you're probably going to have to RP a lot of characters, unless you have someone to RP a crew with.
- Falcon's forum, Falcon's rules.
