Ross gave a slow nod of his head as he processed the information. He would have hated it if Cyania had died, even if she had tried to attack them moments before. "So, is there any plan on how to defeat the curse?" he asked with curiosity. Lowering his gaze, he added quickly, "I mean, if you have some kind of secret plan, you don't have to."
(The Angry Unicorn, the Curse itself appears at random... get injured by an affected? Maybe have it, not hurt or anywhere near an affected? Possible.... it’s like a random generator of that helps... so if ya want Oliver to go berserk or be ‘affected’ that’s fine by me)
Ralph escorted her injured friend back to the inn which luckily was close to the entrance of the town so he didn’t have to go far however she hoped it wasn’t busy granted most of the people were either working or outside gossiping about what just had occurred, “Move airside ya yapping birds.” She snapped at some who wanted answers to the attack yet they were more of a hassle- aka not going to help at all and let Oliver bleed to death. Once getting into the tavern was thankfully had few to none patrons in and the innkeeper looking up in shock- nearly dropped the drinking glass he was cleaning out. “Oi, get the healing kit.”
Elaine felt her throat grow slightly dry with her thinking of an answer that would suffice yet none came up, “I am going to tell you both the truth, the full honest truth.” She started to say with her looking briefly from her notes to the two castle staff members who seemed less nervous but she could tell they were still shaken by the event... however they would be even more shaken when they heard what she said. “No plan, not at all..... in the works, tried everything- spells, magic, you name it, nota..... There had been another attack that happened down at the town too.”
"Hmm...my favorite memory? I have too many to count, but i guess, it would be the memory of meeting all you and making friends here on the forums. :3" ”One day I’m going to sit down and make a list of all the books that I finished reading....” “It's going to be a long list...”

Ross widened his eyes as fear welled up inside of him. The truth about the monarch not having a plan on how to defeat this terrible curse terrified him. And the idea that so many places could be under attack by the people affected by it... The elf shuddered as he tried to collect his thoughts. "The curse must have come from somewhere, though?" he asked logically. "And there has to be a way to cure it?"
“I have people looking into its origin, however it isn’t hard to pinpoint.... and looking into that....” Elaine sighed a little with her sinking back into the cushioned chair and looking a bit exhausted which didn’t mean to show it but honestly she didn’t care with this going on for months, “Yet we with each attack... we do gain some leads.” She added with her looking up at the two people sitting before her.
Kaliah listened quietly with her looking from her friend to the monarch who had presented them with both grave and somewhat hopeful news, “What....what kind of leads?” She was of course wondering if they would be next- could they infect the Queen just by sitting in front of her? Or even more people? Did it work like that.... well if it did then there would have been more outbreaks then this.

Ross scooted forward slightly in his seat as he listened intently. He didn't add onto his friend's question, as it summed up most of his thoughts on what the queen had said. He wondered, though, could he have gotten affected by the curse because Cyania had intended on attacking them? And what would that do to him then if that were the case?
“We don’t know how people get infected.... once they do, and ‘wake up’ from they recall seeing something prior to where they wake up at.” Elaine did her get to explain as this was much even for her, who had been researching this since it started appearing up on the map along with her advisors. “Despite all th currently ‘known’ recalls, we only have little to go on... so far it seems to be pointing towards a forest called Glowing Barks.”

Ross tilted his head to the side. "That place sounds familiar," he murmured, though his memory wasn't quite picking up on where he had heard it. Maybe he had heard two guards mentioning it the other day while he was exiting the castle to get some more ingredients for a meal. Yeah, that sounded about right.
“Glowing Barks?! That’s the haunted forest with glowing trees!” Kaliah stuttered with some fear as the lamia recalled hearing stories from people who walked into that portion of woods and came back....terrified in awe or scared so much that they moved far away from the place where it could be. Her eyes were wide in fear to show that even if it was just stories- the Curse had been just rumors only this morning and now a forest that was either sacred or haunted.
Elaine nodded slowly to the maid’s detailed explanation of what that place was, “Right to an extent, the woods.... well is complicated, we have not explored their yet... for reasons of many not wanting to ‘sign up’ for that quest.” She spoke which she wondered if she should just head down to that place and look herself.... yet she would have to tell the counsel to run things in her place until she got back and that was something else entirely.

Ross gave a small nod of his head in acknowledgement and understanding. After all, with the many rumors of the Glowing Barks, not many would be willing to embark on that kind of mission. However, guards of the castle are supposed to be brave. What does that say about the guards of the castle?
The elf gave a sideways glance at his friend Kaliah. Was the queen hoping that the two of them would be brave enough to search the origin of the curse for the benefit of the kingdom? He turned his head back to Queen Elaine. "Why are you telling us all this?" he asked.
Elaine sighed a little as she looked at them, “Only people inside the counsel and me know what I have told you.” She started to explain with her waiting for only a quick moment before adding, “Also not a well known fact is that there have been several attempts on my life- I fear that if something were to actually happen.... just in case... someone outside the ‘council’ would know of it.” She finished explaining with the Queen rather wanting to go herself to solve things and she wanted them to at least know something in case things went downhill.

Ross widened his eyes - the idea that there have been attempts on the queen's life terrified him. But what terrified him more was that he could see where they were coming from. As far as he knew, there was no set heir to the throne and almost anyone could claim their right to rule if Queen Elaine was dealt with. "Are you suggesting that you might be... dead sometime soon?" he asked slowly and fearfully. He immediately regretted asking, but the words were already out of his mouth.
The elf continued quickly, "You don't have to answer that question. Just, never mind that."
Kaliah let out a gasp in shock with the lamia covering her mouth to stop it, “Y...you can’t be serious...” her accent with her rolling the ‘s’ more and her looking from her friend who was just as shocked/surprised/terrified as she was about well everything they were hearing now, her eyes were still wide and she started to wonder what they should do with this knowledge of everything from the cursed people to the queen’s near-death expirences.
“Yes and no, I have had luck on my side these past months..... but with everything going on; I have to think reasonably that there might be a chance it will run out.” Elaine admitted and answering the elf’s question regardless as she was honestly tired of the political court games, her kingdom being uprooted by this weird curse and the chance that the kingdom could also be taken from under her with the queen herself in the ground.

Ross shifted uncomfortably in his seat, still embarrassed from asking the question. Looking at the queen and giving her a small smile of reassurance, he stated, "Well, no matter what happens, we will always be on your side to the end." The thing that pleased him most was that he meant what he had just said, and he couldn't see any situation where he would betray her.
Kaliah nodded in agreement with a smile gracing her face that did show her fangs, “To the end my lady- Elaine.” She corrected herself with using the queen’s given name rather then a title which couldn’t help but feel that smiling made things better when you were scared or hurt almost like a charm that anyone could conjure up to make the day bright again through the darkness.
Elaine’s mouth was opened just a little in shock then she started to smile and laugh a little, “Thank you.... thank you both,” they willingly put their trust in her made her actually happy despite everything going on however she still needed to keep the face of a queen, “Now, what ya’ll choose to do with the information is up to you-“ she began to say when a knock came from the door that echoed throughout the empty room.
“My Queen? The Lord of Blitzville and The Count of Kcentel are here.” A knight sounded from the other end of the door yet the look on the queen’s face was pure (it looked like this emoji; )

Ross put his hand over his mouth to try to stifle his laughter at the expression on the queen's face. But to see how happy the queen was had also made him feel good inside. However, what intrigued him was that he hadn't heard about the two visiting nobles earlier on. Wouldn't anyone in the castle have heard about it before they arrived? Or perhaps Ross was just a forgetful elf, which was - in Ross's opinion - more likely than a surprise visit.
