Hello everyone!
This thread will be of short stories of cats from ✞~Spottedleaf ~✞ ‘s rp DarkClan and LightClan~! I’m starting off with my cats for now, but if anyone wants me to include theirs just ask and I’ll do my best to incorporate them.
This is also can be canon to the history of the cats or what-if scenarios, or just plain funny spoofs. Each story will say what it is and have each cat named be listed below the story.
Pepperkit(star)’s Pun Revolution: (Canon)
“Slow down Pepperkit!” The squeaks of kittens mewed as the cat in question was running ahead of them, a ginger-colored tabby tomkit only laughed in response and only stopping once he reached the freshkill pile. His dark yellow eyes gleaming in excitement, full of curiosity like most kittens and ready to take on the world. He swished his fluffy tail in triumph until he was jumped on by the other kits.
Pepperkit’s siblings in fact, there was his brother Leafkit with a brown tabby coat but shared the fluffy fur and yellow eyes. The other was his sister Rootkit who shared his ginger-colored pelt but had seemingly more stripes, a thinner coat and blue eyes.
“Wait for us next time!” Leafkit snapped, despite his thick coat he was actually the smallest out of the litter. Playfully he swapped his brother’s ear which made the ginger tom simply roll over.
Effectively trapping the brother underneath him, “Says the turtle.” Pepperkit let out a gasp when he was tackled by Rookit who successful tackled him to the ground and into a roll until he was pinned down by her. “Yet the turtle outsmarted the fox.” Pepperkit let out a scoff but understood that meaning, having listened to the elders and their wise stories.
“Stop playing around the pile, ya’ll either grab somethin’ to eat or run along.” All three kittens turned their heads in sync to the owner of the voice, it belonged to LightClan’s most grumpiest and older warriors named Ravengaze. The black furred she-cat’s piercing yellow eyes still retained their fierceness despite the graying muzzle and the warrior’s battle scars, the most prominent being half of her ear had been torn off in a skirmish. “Well?”
“Yes Ravengaze.” Their voices in chorus which made them burst into giggles, the three kits always following the other or like this in sync much ti the clan’s amusement or annoyance depending on who you asked.
Pepperkit watched as his siblings grabbed a mouse from the pile, he was going to follow them but halted to see the warrior’s demeanor grow sullen for a moment. Being a nosy kit and hating to see others in pain, he cautiously padded over to the warrior who looked up when he was within a fox-length from her. “I heard a lot of chirping today, do you think birds talk bad about us?”
“I mean, we eat them and stuff. But do you think they gossip like cats do? Or are they just trying to see who’s louder.” He continued without batting an eye to the warrior who looked perplexed and wondering if the young kit had gone mad. “I actually think birds are just swallow.” Ending his weird chat with a pun that earned him a snicker and a smile.
Pepperkit grinned from ear to ear, “Now your smiling! Thought I’d only get a chirp but hey, like my mom always says; hawks can’t be picky- but robins can.” Earning more laughter to the point that even he was starting to crack up too.
“Heh, keep up with those puns. You’ll be a real hit.” Ravengaze chuckled and seemed to be better at the moment. The young tom had forgotten that this time around the warrior always got more surly and distant. He had heard that she had lost her mate around this season from an ambush by a Darkclan cat. Of course being a kit he didn’t know the full details, but he knew better than to pry that far. That was rude and not appropriate. “Thanks Pepperkit, now….” He watched as the warrior stood up on her paws and looking down at him thoughtfully. “Go run along with your siblings, don’t want to get the tail-end of that mouse.”
“Anytime Ravengaze,” Pepperkit mewed happily then running off over to his littermates, he noticed his mother pad over to the older warrior but didn’t think much of it. “Don’t tell me, puns? Your jokes are funny but terrible!” Leafkit giggled as the the ginger tom bit into the mouse, swallowing his food before replying did Pepperkit simply just grin. “Yeah but they make cats smile.”
“That’s true,” Rookit added with a smile as the she-kit affectionally pawed at both of the toms’ ears. The three kits started playing once they finished off the mouse, blissfully unaware of the war still raging on between the two clans. Naive to the real dangers and horrors that war brought and followed by death. War made the young grow up quickly, taking away their kithood and replacing it with experience. But for now, these siblings took time to enjoy each others company and the happiness they brought.
Pepperkit mother, Kestrelstripe a thick-furred, tall brown-and-white tabby with golden eyes was talking with Ravengaze- but not about the war, the tabby was lending her ear to her friend. “There is always hope when kits are born, a chance of rebirth. Yet this war has taken many lives, even the gatherings being the few instances of peace between the clans- has become tense like tree bark.” Began the queen as she had a small smile on her face, keeping one eye on her friend and the other on her own litter. “I’m not saying we give in, I’m just saying the clans need a reminder that all life is sacred.”
“True, but those in charge are stuck in the past like a burr. I guess you are suggesting the new generation…?” The black she-cat questioned with a slight tilt of her head.
The tabby queen simply hummed a little, “Perhaps…. I’m trying to help but I’m just stumped.”
“Well, I hope they do a better job than we did…and Kestrelstripe?” Yet again the older warrior asked a question which she only continued when the other cat nodded.
“Your puns are terrible like your son, it’s worse than putting fire ants in a nest.” Ravengaze huffed and tried to not be amused, but her stoic deamnor cracked a little when the other cat started to chuckle.
“He’s still branching out.”
“Stop it.”
“Not that far from the tree either.”
“Kestrelstripe, how were you my apprentice?”
“Alright, alright! I’ll leaf you alone for now, I wood see you later but I have to make sure my kits aren’t in treeble.”
Ravengaze sighed at the terrible jokes and looked up towards the sky, “StarClan help this clan.”
