So I haven't written anything in a while and I'm a bit rusty but I came up with a few ideas and decided to turn them into a fanfiction! I really hope you enjoy
Ps. Beginnings are not my strong point so it might start bad and then get better
PROLOGUE
Gorsestar sat outside his den. The clearing was full of the soft sounds of sleeping warriors and mewling of kits in the nursery. Forestclan had been peaceful for many moons now.
Gorsestar lifted his nose and sensed a cat was approaching. "Good evening Tawnycloud," he greeted the Forestclan medicine cat.
Tawnycloud's dark silhouette made its way across the moon lit clearing towards him. Even in the dark Gorsestar could see the trouble in her eyes.
"What is wrong?" he asked. Something about the way she looked at him made him feel uncomfortable.
"I have received a prophecy from Starclan," she announced.
Gorsestar felt a weight drop in his stomach. "Go on," he urged her.
"Poison will be washed away by rain and a cat as pale as the moon," Tawnycloud recited.
Gorsestar felt confused. "Poison? What poison?" he worried aloud.
Tawnycloud looked solemn. "I'm not sure Gorsestar but I believe our clan is in grave danger."
CHAPTER 1
"Rainfur! Sootwhisker! Rainfur! Sootwhisker!"
Rainfur felt immense pride burst through her chest as the clan chanted her new warrior name. Beside her, her best friend Sootwhisker look just as proud. "Isn't this amazing!" she exclaimed.
Sootwhisker was beaming. "I can't believe we're finally warriors!"
As the cheering died down Gorsestar leaped up onto the Meeting Tree. "As tradition, Rainfur and Sootwhisker will stand guard at the camp entrance tonight," he announced.
Sootwhisker's face fell. "All night?"
Rainfur chuckled. Sootwhisker was the heaviest sleeper she knew.
Hawkpelt, deputy of Forestclan, approached the new warriors. "Congratulations you two," he purred. A dark brown tabby appeared behind him.
"Hi Mudclaw!" Sootwhisker meowed.
Rainfur remembered that Mudclaw was Hawkpelt's brother. It was terrifying being spoken to by two incredible warriors.
Mudclaw smiled. "Excited to be warriors eh?"
Both Rainfur and Sootwhisker nodded. It was true. Rainfur felt overjoyed.
"The sun is going down, you two should go to your posts," reminded Hawkpelt.
Rainfur scampered off to the camp entrance and sat down on the sandy ground. She puffed out her chest and tried to look as important as possible. This was a job for very brave warriors.
Sootwhisker followed a bit more hesitantly. It would be a long night for the both of them.
It was a just after moon high when Rainfur began to feel her eyelids droop. Sootwhisker was snoring loudly next to her. She decided not to wake her up.
When Rainfur's head started to fall a flicker of movement caught her eye. Hawkpelt had just left the warriors den and was heading her way. She dug a claw into Sootwhisker's tail who woke with a yelp but stood up straight quickly when she saw Hawkpelt.
"I see you're still awake," said Hawkpelt.
"Yup," said Rainfur. "I don't even feel tired. Who needs sleep anyway."
Hawkpelt look amused.. Rainfur was pretty sure he saw her head drooping and Sootwhisker sleeping. She was just glad that he wasn't saying anything.
"Anyway I'm just going for a walk. Can't sleep you know," Hawkpelt went on and squeezed past Rainfur.
"Oh ok..." Rainfur stuttered. It was a bit late for a walk wasnt it? She watched Hawpelt's tail disappear into the shadows.
"I think I'm just going to rest my eyes for a while..." Sootwhisker yawned and settled back down again.
Rainfur rolled her eyes. She sat in silence for a while with only the sounds of chirping crickets filling her ears until she heard the stirring of leaves and snapping of twigs. She whipped around to see Hawpelt's skidding into camp.
His eyes were wild and he was painting hard. "The beaver dams have broken! A flood coming this way!"
