You open your eyes to a blurry world. Nothing is familiar-save on thing. The warmth of your mother's fur is ever-present, and you snuggle up into it, your breaths syncing with hers. You shut your eyes, ready to fall back into a deep, sweet sleep.
Then there is another scent. Fur brushes against you, and nose touches your head. Crying out in distress, you attempt to squirm away, but a large paw pushes you back into place.
"Can't have our new kit running away before the clan even sees you." It is an inviting voice, kind and benevolent. As you force your eyes open once more, you find yourself in front of a towering she-cat. Her fur is a stunning tortoiseshell, with white paws and underbelly. Half of her face is black, the other a marvelous orange. She flicks her tail, opening her mouth to speak.
"I've come for just a second or two, I'm afraid I simply don't have much time to speak." Her voice is low, a purr edging her mew.
"I just wanted to say... welcome to Monarchclan, little one."

What is currently going on in Monarchclan?
Maplestar is a fiercely loyal cat to the traditional Monarchclan system-to have power, you must be born into power. Others disagree. Will you choose to blindly follow the rules as a high-ranking loyalist, or will you take the plunge into anarchy?
Loyalists and Rebels
In Monarchclan to be in power, you must have power. Family connections, skill, and who you talk to are all a part of this. For example, if you are the leader's sister, you automatically are in a seat of power, no matter your skill in battle or hunting. However, if you are born low-ranking, but you are the number one fighter, you do not have the power that the leader's sister would have, but you have a great amount. The only rank that this does not apply to is medicine cat. Anyone can become one.
Loyalists strictly follow this system. The are almost always high-ranking cats who have some sort of connection to the leader or deputy.
Rebels, on the other hand, are cats who think this type of system is ridiculous. They believe in change, and power to the people. (or cats, I suppose)

Overview
Monarchclan's territory is quite large. Mainly consisting of sloping valleys and meadows, there are only a few small wooded areas. There is one lake, which is situated close to camp. Quite a bit of flowers inhabit Monarchclan area, as well as butterflies, especially monarchs. This, as you can imagine, is how Monarchclan got its name. Monarchclan camp is surrounded by relatively tall hills. They live in the natural valley created by this. The inside is very sheer, so it is almost impossible to climb in or out.
In-Camp
The Entrance: The entrance is marked by a small, claustrophobic tunnel. Not many cats enjoy going through this, but cats of Monarchclan tend to have small, lithe bodies ideal for running and jumping. This also enables them to get through small spaces, such as their own entrance.
The Fallen Rock: The Fallen Rock is a large rock that tumbled down from one of the hills around the valley. This may have killed a few cats but still proved useful, as it is now used for ceremonies.
Prey-Cove: The Prey-Cove is simply a large, shallow hole used for storing prey.
Medicine-Cat Den: The medicine cat den is a hole carved out in the side of the very tall inside walls of the valley. Vines have naturally grown over the entrance here. Inside, you can find multiple niches used for storing herbs.
The Dirt Place: The Dirt-Place is not actually located inside the camp, but I felt I should mention it. It is actually a small field located near camp. Yes, that means that you do have to travel a short distance you use the dirtplace. It was created this way for two reasons. The first was that there simply was no space. The medicine cat den had taken quite a bit of effort and the walls of the valley were not thick enough to support a place that big. The second was that it had been a measure for kits trying to sneak out.
The Leader's Den: The leader's den is a small den, created with interwoven, brambles, ivy, hay, and colorful flowers for decoration.
Warrior's Den: As you might have noted earlier, there is an abundance of large rocks at the top of the hills. These have a tendency to fall down. Luckily, nobody died, and it created an extremely useful den. Several rocks smashed together to form a spacious den for warriors.
Apprentice's Den: The apprentices sleep under numerous heather bushes located near the Fallen Rock.
Nursery: The Nursery, by far, is the most comfortable den in the camp. Multiple large tree branches were actually thrown over the edge, thanks to the help of the whole clan, sans elders. They, once on the ground, were placed in such a way that they created a large shelter. The floor is regularly replaced with hay from a nearby barn.
Elder's Den: Elders sleep in the hollow of an extra tree branch from the creation of the nursery.
