So my friend and I were wondering if anyone shared our opinion on disliking Leafpool. Thoughts?

I actually really like her. One of my favorite characters, maybe even my most favorite character.

This is an anthem for the homesick, for the beaten, the lost, the broke, the defeated A song for the heartsick, for the standbys, living life in the shadow of a goodbye
I highly dislike her cx

Not at all, hah. It's mainly because I can relate to her. Or well, maybe not relate, but in my opinion most of the things she did that people hate her for are actually reasonable, and I would've probably done the same. Giving her kits away? Reasonable, it protected them till they were old enough at least. Stepping down? Again, reasonable for me. Staying as the medicine cat would've made the other Clans look down upon ThunderClan even more.

I honestly quite like my mother
Like water said, she did what she had to do to protect her kits and raise them in the best possible way she could think of I mean if she had walked back to camp with those three kits and announced "These are mine", the clan would look down on them for their entire lives and they would have to work extra hard to earn their respect and trust. Leafpool didn't want that kind of struggle, so she went to the cat she trusted most and knew would love them like their own mother and raise them well, and that under her care they would grow up to be respected, loved, accomplished cats she couldn't be prouder of. Now imagine now horribly hard it would of been for everyone to think that these kits that were her own - these kits she loved so much - belonged to another cat, and that her own kits would never love her in the same way she loved them. She could only look after them at a distance; Imagine how painful that would be for her, how hard of a decision it would be to allow her sister to take care of them. Also, if people don't like her for loving Crowfeather and having kits with him, I don't know why. She fell in love with this cat and she couldn't help it, she started meeting with him because she hated to be apart from him - come on, tell me you wouldn't feel the same? AND if people are upset with her for 'taking crow away from feather'....... blame the Erins

Those are all valid reasons. I stopped hating her after Hollyleaf came back though, since I realized that she was actually a fairly good mother, and she always loved her kits. So she isn't that bad.

Okay. Unpopular opinion time.
I respect her decisions to give up her kits and step down from being a medicine cat as well. The only thing that disappointed me was that she was weak enough to “fall in love” with Crowfeather. I thought she would be smarter than that. I mean, there’s at least 7 “forbidden love” relationships in the series. (Bluestar and Oakheart, Graystripe and Silverstream, Yellowfang and Raggedstar, Crowfeather and Feathertail, Dovewing and Tigerheart, Stormfur and Brook, Leafpool and Crowfeather.) And I just feel like it’s highly overused, and every time I see one it makes me feel sick. It just seems like the only reason they add that stuff in is to create drama. I’m not saying that I hate her, and I get Holly’s point that she just couldn’t help it. But I honestly think she could have been a better character if she was a little more unique. Oh well.
Hate me if you want.

Couldn't hate you. I see what you mean, the forbidden love thing is indeed very much a cliché; but again, you can blame the Erins for that
