Prologue is here! It is a bit short, since I am tired. Anyways, ENJOY!! (Reviews would be nice? )
Prologue
The moon shown silver as the group of cats trekked back to their camp. It was lashing rain, and everyone was miserable. After a few more moments of silence, a white she-cat spoke up. Voicing what everyone though about the weather. "Why did storm clouds interrupt the Gathering?" she asked. A tabby tom glared at her and narrowed his eyes. He knew exactly why StarClan had interrupted the Gathering. The four forest clans refused to accept DustClan, and WindClan went as far as declaring war on the newly founded clan. StarClan obviously disagreed, but WindClan though that is was a sign that StarClan was in their favor. "Sedgeclaw, you KNOW that StarClan is angry. Why else would they sent the storm"? Sedgeclaw glared back at her leader, she didn't dare reply, but she disagreed. "Duststar, how can we fight WINDCLAN? We have only four warriors, and two apprentices! Not to mention your mate doesn't do anything.." At the mention of his mate, Duststar snarled and his eyes glittered as he stared coldly at Sedgeclaw, she flinched, but did not back down. "Sedgeclaw, Ivy is NOT meant for being a clan cat. She just finished nursing MY SON. She's still winded, and she doesn't know what her place in the clan will be."
Sedgeclaw hissed annoyance, but didn't reply. The cats continued their trekk down the slope. Suddenly, a fierce caterwaul was heard and warriors launched themselves at the clan. Duststar let out a snarl of fury and launched himself at Proudstar. He bowled over the WindClan leader and raked his claws across the tom's flank. Proudstar growled with spat at him, throwing him off. He glared at the DustClan leader. "You don't belong here, rogue!" he hissed. Duststar let out a snarl and launched himself at Proudstar once again, but the tom was ready for him. He slashed his claws along Duststar's flank as he flew past. Duststar reared up and launched himself again, Proudstar tried to dodge, but the tabby warrior had caught him on the side of the head. Behind them, Sedgeclaw was battling bravely against two WindClan warriors, while another white tom had pinned down another WindClan warrior. Duststar drew strength from his clanmates and hurled himself on top of Proudstar. Proudstar desperately tried to disloge him, but it was to no avail. Duststar raked his claws across the tom's belly and bit hard into his shoulder. Proudstar screeched with agony and threw him off, spitting, he fled into the bushes. Duststar let out a snarl of satisfaction and leaped to help Sedgeclaw. He grasped a ginger tom who had fastened onto her and threw him to the ground. Duststar let out a caterwaul and leaped on top of him. He bit down on the warriors throat and scrabbled at the tom's exposed stomach. The tom squealed like a kit and threw him off, only to launch himself at Duststar again. Thinking fast, the DustClan leader dropped on all fours and propelled himself at the tom, slamming into his chest and knocking him over. Duststar pinned one paw on the warriors throat, and another on his stomach. "Run back to your leader, and don't come back"! he growled. He raked his claws across the toms face and let him flee into the bushes. The battle had ended around him, his clanmates were weary with exaustion, but their eyes glowed. They had beaten off an attack from WindClan. Duststar felt a glimmer of hope, but it faded as he saw Sedgeclaw laying motionless on the ground. "Sedgeclaw.. no.." the leader rasped. He dashed forward and pressed his nose into the white she-cats fur. Her eyes were glazed and sightless. Duststar let out a low moan of grief, his clanmates gathered around their fallen clanmate. Duststar stared at the sky and pleaded silently "StarClan, how much longer can we survive?"
