Hello, Welcome, Good Morning/Afternoon, Having a great day?
I'm sure you're wondering what this "Feed-back Committee" is correct? Of course that is correct why else would you have clicked on this!! (Note you really don't need to read most of this so if you just want to know what this is skip the spoiler part)
Before I answer this burning question of what exactly that is I should most likely introduce my self. I'm Olive/Tiny(I prefer olive but you might notice people who have been here longer will call me Tiny as that was my first screen name). I am a hobby Artist/Writer as well as going to high school and I also sorta do free style singing and dancing when no one is watching. For now just focus on the fact i'm a writer and in particular a Fan-fiction writer. I had a couple months ago revived my old story call "Where the Aspen tree grows" it was going to be a series but it never followed through. (If you didn't know the name was a play on the book "Where the red fern grows". A book I actually really enjoyed. Though the name was partly coincidental when I started writing it I had been thinking about that book.) I decided to revive it renaming it to "The Aspen Tree" (That's just the name of Book 1). Out of a personal choice I decided no longer to have a editor, this served two very important purposes. One, I could improve my grammar despite paying attention to how my editor..well edited I never really fixed up my grammar as I relied heavily on her to fix it up. That resulted in my improvement on grammar becoming relatively stagnate as I never truly had a reason to pay attention to that. The next thing was is that I had less freedom, not that it was her fault but I have to compromise with my editor. Its sorta how it works, it was like a imaginary contract where when I did things if something made it uncomfortable I would change it slightly to make it work. It allowed us to work together and that isn't all that bad despite it sacrificing some moments that might be taken away due to this. The bigger thing I had to sacrifice was that as two different people someone can edit it and it can change the whole story. The way someone rights can easily leak into how they edit and its not their entire fault a story can change. That means my vision wasn't always there especially the fact sometimes my ideas were hard to translate into a well edited story. Again, she wasn't a bad editor it just wasn't the best way I could write.
Instead I came up with something else..
and this is where we get to the Feed-back committee, I had once offered a friend a potion as an editor but she declined worrying her writing style would end up changing the whole story into something else. This is where I came up with the idea of having her just read it through and give feed-back, so basically peer-editing. In this sense I had the freedom to choose, some parts of a story are JUST how I write. I can write a story where looks are rarely mentioned and nothing is lost except how they look, if there were a editor they may decide to add it. Now with a Feed-back committee if more people want that in I can add it in, or I could go against what most want and risk leaving it out. I also can find out where I make mistakes, or just have them tell me that they have seen parts that need improving. Giving me a chance to try and find it and fix it up my self, that doesn't guarantee I will but its a way of improving.
Please read everything, Including the rules. Yes I have rules.
