Short Backstory:
Greenleaf, Day 7
I have set the boundaries of my new clan, Dawnclan, named after my dearest sister Dawnleaf, may her soul rest peacefully among the stars, I will start the camp preparations as soon as possible. Taking on the name Duststar from my previous Duststripe, my clan will grow and prosper. I just hope we will survive...
Leaf-fall, Day 2
I traveled to the sacred Moonpool today, standing on center island was the starry figure of Dawnleaf, she told me "This day will bring war from those deceased long ago..." I pondered this message deeply on my way back to my under-construction camp, then, I saw the rotting carcass of a rabbit and a very angry Windclan...
Leaf-fall, Day 4
Today, two cats stumbled across my camp. I had just finished the Deputy and Warrior's dens, so the positions were available. A tom with a mottled grey pelt named Cloud decided to take the Deputy position, as his sister, Rose, who had a pure grey pelt, didn't like the idea of having such a high rank, and so became the first Warrior. I'll decide their new names later.
Leaf-fall, Day 5
More cats have arrived, two toms this time, one with a brown tabby pelt and white paws named Thorn and a calico called Wave. Wave became a Warrior, and Thorn decided to be the Prey-keeper. I'll be bringing Wave with me on patrol today.
Leaf-fall, Day 6
So many cats! My camp isn't even done, and I already have five clanmates! The newest member of Dawnclan is a silvery tabby, although she did not reveal her name to me. Unfortunately, Wave was wounded by a Windclan patrol the previous day, but she taught them a lesson they'll remember for a long time!
Leaf-fall, Day 10
A few more arrivals, today, although the silver tabby decided that she had overstayed her welcome and decided to leave the clan. Twins named Thorn and Owl, a tom called Fang and a black and white one named Stripe. This is going to get confusing, now that I have two cats with the name Thorn, I've got to rename my clanmates soon...
Leafbare, Day 2
Well, it seems that my duplicate name problem has been solved; today, when I visited my sister at the Moonpool, she gave me this message; "A grave injury, a saddened soul, a name true to behold." Later that day, I got into a fight with Windclan. Thorn had been blinded in one eye, Owl was furious, and he needed a new name. I decided on Silvereye, it was subtle but still showed his injury.
Leafbare, Day 6
Owl's rage has not been quenched, even after four whole days. She stormed off into the snowy night, bringing Silvereye with her. I was uneasy that night and could not drift away to sleep, was it something I did that drove them off? Am I unfit to be a leader? Looking for answers to ease my worry, I set off towards Moonpool to visit Dawnleaf. But during my journey, I found a kit under the branches of a dead tree, freezing in the cold of the snow, and although she carried the faint scent of Shadowclan, she was clearly abandoned. Whoever was the monster that did this, I knew not, but I had to get them home before they froze to death. Once I arrived back at camp, I recalled that the tree I found them under was the carcass of a maple tree, and so I named them accordingly.
Leafbare, Day 10 - Part 1
Duststar stood in the branches of the oak tree, gazing down at her fellow clanmates, they were gathered around the tree, eagerly awaiting the first official message Duststar had to give them. Clearing her thought, she begins, melodic voice ringing throughout the cold, snowy camp, "Cats of Dawnclan!" instantly, cheers rang out at the mention of their clan name. Once the yowls died down, Duststar continued, "Today marks the end of Leafbare, we have survived, thrived and grown over the moons. As of today, I would like to propose a tradition, exclusive to our clan. At the end of every season, we shall feast at midnight in celebration of a new dawn and a new moon. On this night, any clanmates who have not been given proper warrior names shall receive one, as long as the warrior code applies. Are there any objections to this proposition?" the cats below murmured thoughtfully, a new clan tradition? Just for them? It was minor so... After about a minute or two the first yowl of agreement arose, followed by a second, then a third, until finally, the whole crowd was cheering once again. Raising her tail for silence, Duststar continued, "I see there are no objections to the proposal... So be it! We shall gather once again tonight to commence the ceremony. May Dawnclan grow and prosper forever more!" and with that, Duststar leapt down from the branch with a flourish, signalling with her tail for her clanmates to continue with their tasks. "Cloud, come, we must make preparations for tonight," she meowed to her deputy, padding towards her den.
From now on, every tenth day with be laid out in 3rd person and contain renamings. So make more warriors!
Leafbare, Day 10 - Part 2
It was time, night had fallen, stars gleaming against the black sky. The clan was abuzz with excitement, discussing the possibilities for the meeting. Duststar and the deputy emerged from her den, Cloud sitting at the base of the oak tree and Duststar quickly clawing her way to one of the lower branches, "Welcome back, cats of Dawnclan! The night is appon us, and so the moonly-ceremony may begin! Let's start with names, Wave, come on over." Wave squealed in delight, padding over and bowing her head in respect, "Wave, you have been loyal to the clan through thick and thin, and for that, I respect you. From this night onward, you shall be known as Mistyfeather, for your stealth and swiftness." the crowd yowled in delight, cheering Mistyfeather's new name into the night, soon quieting down enough for Duststar to continue, "wear that name with pride, Mistyfeather. Stripe! Come on dooown~" Stripe strutted over, pride nearly seeping off his pelt, "Stripe, you are one of our clan's best hunters, for that you shall be named Darktooth. Be strong, stay proud, and one day you may become a star!" the cheering picked-up once again, Darktooth turning and bowing to the crowd before padding back to his spot, "Stripe, uh... Number 2! Get your tail over here, you kind hearted cat, you!" the blue-tabby-Stripe quietly walked over, fur becoming warm at the compliment, "Stripe, I've seen you at night, awe sparkling in your eyes as the fireflies danced around camp, don't think I haven't! You shall be known as Fireflystorm, keep shining!" Fireflystorm bounced lightly on her paws, beaming with delight(heh, heh, FIREFLY. LIGHTLY. BEAMING. GET IT? EH? EH??). Shortly, everyone was renamed. Fang became Tigerstripe, Cloud simply added spots to his name, him being allowed to choose his own, and Thorn became Thistletail. With the names out of the way, everyone gathered in groups, Thisletail and Mistyfeather handing out prey. Laughter and cheers filling the crisp air. Duststar let out a content sigh, this was perfect, her clanmates were happy, she was happy... She could only wish that her dearest Dawnleaf were here to enjoy it with her...
