A small thing...
This is not a choose your own adventure. This is the journey of Twinkle, a lost loner kit.
Twinkle opened her eyes. It was cold. She looked around for her mama. But, she couldn't find her or her dad. Then, a blood-freezing cry pierced the air. Mama! Twinkle got on her paws and tried to run as fast as possible. It was an early spring day, and there was some frost on the grass. When she thought she could see her mama, light blinded her. She ran back inside. That must be the sun! But where's mama? she wondered. The cry sounded again, closer this time. Carefully, Twinkle nosed outside. A white female and a leopard-spotted male cat fighted a light-blue female cat with white spots all around her body, paws and tail. The light spotted cat fell backwards, recieving a scar on her face from the other spotted cat. The white one, however, started walking towards Twinkle. She fluffed up her fur, trying to look scary, but the big one didn't even flinch. She grasped Twinkle by her scruff. The blue female cried again. "Not my kit!!" she screamed. The leopard-spotted male cat quieted her, clawing at her side. She fell, her eyes now seeing nothing, side bleeding. Twinkle stopped fidgeting. "Let her say goodbye, Echo. I believe she is her mother." the male meowed. Echo nodded. She placed Twinkle by her mother. The tiny kit scampered on top of her mama. "Mama... I-I miss you..." she whispered, crying, tears shimmering in the sun. Echo and the male moved closer to the grieving kit. "Kit, what is your name? I'm Spots, and this is Echo." the male introduced himself and his companion. "Ra-Rainy said m-my name i-is... Twinkle." Twinkle stammered, still not moving. "Spots, we should be going back and get Tiger. I'm sure Feathers and Ripple will like them both." Echo meowed after a while. Spots nodded. Echo picked up Twinkle, and the male picked up Rainy's dead body. They picked up some brambles and gave them to Twinkle. After a while they came across another tiny kit. "Tiger, this is Twinkle. Twinkle, meet Tiger. We found him alone here." Echo meowed and put Twinkle down close to Tiger. He ran to them, then stopped by Twinkle. Echo and Spots nudged them. Tiger started walking, Twinkle following him. "Where's your mama?" she asked him. "They killed her, and buried her nearby. I'm sure the other body will be lying next to my mama." Tiger responded. "That's Rainy, m-my mama." Twinkle whispered.
After a long walk they saw a big rock, and on top of it was a gray-with-dark spots and blue eyes female cat. A dark blue tabby with a much lighter tail-tip, paws and underbelly. They looked at them. "Who do you have there, Echo and Spots?" the gray cat demanded. "Feathers, this is Twinkle and Tiger. We found them wandering. The body here is Rainy, Twinkle's mother, who fought bravely to protect her. Twinkle and Tiger, meet Feathers and Ripple." Echo meowed. The kits looked up at Feathers. Ripple got to his paws. "Feathers, we should take them in. They are too young to live alone." he suggested. Feathers nodded. "For now, Twinkle and Tiger can stay with us. Bury Rainy and come back. Ripple and Echo will go hunting." Feathers meowed. The cats did as she asked.
For the first chapter, this is long, but more is coming. I hope you liked it.
