Sandpaw let out a huff, insulted by her mentor's last comment. She flicked the piece of moss off her tail and followed behind her mentor out into camp. Her steps were heavy and her eyelids were hardly able to stay up. "Ugh, why couldn't I have slept in a little bit?" she asked bitterly with a lash of her tail. "If I did, I might be able to actually do things more accurately and efficiently."
Stonestar stood in the clearing while his clan members emerged from their dens. Once a decent amount of cats were awake and chatting, he knew that they were probably waiting for their patrol assignments. He saw Dovetail, the cat he had chosen to lead the border and hunting patrol combined. He didn't mind who went with her, so the gray-furred tom approached the she-cat just to let her know she was on the patrol. "Good morning, Dovetail," Stonestar meowed in greeting.
Like most others at this point, Patchfur was sitting in the clearing, waiting to be told if he was to go on patrol or not. From what he could see, Stonestar was talking to Dovetail. From that, Patchfur could only assume that she would be in charge of one of the patrols. Whether that be hunting or border, he didn't know, nor did he know if he would be chosen to go on it with her. It was all just the wait game at this point. Not that Patchfur was in any hurry. He was actually enjoying the coolness of the greenleaf morning. It was still warm, that was for sure, but it was cooler than a standard morning in this season. 💎TOMBCLAN💎
Nightfoot was already in the main part of the camp, where all cats met when they were not in their dens, by the time most others began to arise. For some reason, he had an uneasy night of rest last night. He didn't know why, but it had happened. He just couldn't fall asleep. Bored out of his mind, Nightfoot decided to try to go find Rainfeather. Going on patrol would at least get him out of camp for a little while, and that was much better than just sitting around all morning. 🐺 WOLFCLAN🐺
Embernose stirred in her nest as morning arrived. Even though the sun still hung low in the sky, it wasn't hard to tell that it was rising because of the pale glow that shined from it. It was still bright enough to tell an obvious difference between night and day in the camp. Aside from the sun, Embernose had gotten to where she could sense that morning had arrived. By now, she had been able to tell whether it was time to rise or not. It was especially easy to tell if she could hear noise from other cats from outside the den. While it didn't seem like much was going on yet, there was a little commotion going on. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just the usual morning chatter among the clan.
The young healer would have liked to sleep a little bit longer. However, the duties of her job called her to get out of her nest. Although it felt cooler this morning, it was still greenleaf. Because of that, Embernose wanted to gather some of the herbs she was low on before the sun burned the dew off of them. This way, they were still wet and fresh.
Even though morning had arrived, unlike Embernose, Sandfang was still sleeping soundly in her nest. She was not exactly a morning cat. In fact, she hated waking up at the time that it was. She would much rather sleep until the sun was at least a tad bit higher in the sky, at the point to where the whole sky could be lit up by it. She didn't like to rise when it was still the least bit dark. When she had to do that, she often woke up very moody. Especially if she had to be woken up by another cat. Getting woken up was the one thing she hated more than early mornings. She preferred to wake up on her own time. Obviously, Sandfang doesn't always get her own way, but that doesn't mean she has to like it.

“If you slept in, then nothing would get done and by the time you actually woke up- You’d have a bigger chore list that keeps adding up until your a senior warrior.” Dovetail mewed in response to his apprentice with the warrior letting out a soft chuckle which he might have dragged on the ‘chore list till basically elders’ a bit yet she would never learn patience, he looked over to see the leader coming towards them, “Good morning Stonestar...” He mewed his greetings with a dip of his head in respect to the leader, it would take time for things to run back smoothly yet the new leader was a good candidate that the previous leader had chosen.
Rattletail jumped up from his nest when he felt something kick him, “By The Accursed! Spiderfang!” He growled in annoyance as the warrior did the most respectful thing any grown cat would do, he pounced lightly atop the warrior like a kit with enough force to wake the annoying tom up yet no claws- he wasn’t going to intentionally harm the cat but wanted him to know that kicking him was bad. “Wake up ya scrap of bones.”

Mountainclan:
“I’m not really sure” Fogflower spoke, her eyes sparking with curiosity at the thought of deputyship. Though she had wanted to become deputy, she wouldn’t be surprised if Stonestar chose a much younger cat- well not maybe too young, to become second-in-command to the newest leader of the clan. “Perhaps Patchfur? He has been a warrior for many seasons so it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Stonestar picked him” she meowed to Finchwhisker, casting a glance at the black and white tom before turning her gaze back to Finchwhisker. “We’ll just have to wait and see”
Whitefoot walked out of the nursery, her ears twitching as she caught snippets of other cats’ conversations. Of course it wasn’t her place to gossip about the upcoming deputy ceremony but she couldn’t help but wonder who would succeed the past deputy. Shaking the thoughts away, the expecting queen started to walk towards the fresh-kill pile.
Tombclan:
Rainfeather’s ears perked up when he saw Fernpatch approaching him. “Good morning to you too!” He meowed back to his clanmate. The tom cat took a glance at the fresh-kill for a moment before looking back at Fernpatch. “Most likely” he told her. “I will need to send out a border patrol towards Wolfclan border as well as sent out a hunting patrol later on. There’s still enough food for everyone right now so I don’t feel too worried about that right now”.
Feeling pressure onto his side, Spiderfang woke up with a startled yowl. Once he realized that he wasn’t being attacked, the long legged tom then stared at Rattletail with annoyance. “What was that for, mousebrain!?” He hissed, pelt bristling. “I’ll have you know that next time you do that to me, you piece of crowfood, you won’t be returning to your dry, clean nest” he meowed with a look that said ‘I’m going to throw your nest into the river and then drag it back to camp in a pitiful state’.
Dipperwing, now calmed down from her nightmare, slowly walked out of the elders’ den, glancing around the clearing with her blue and green eyes.
Wolfclan:
“Ah yes, let me tell you a story” Owlsight purred in a playful tone, closing his blind eyes as if he was thinking of something. “Once upon a time, a plump rabbit that was brought into camp...” he trailed off for a moment, remembering when he and his litter mates were playing by the fresh-kill pile when a rabbit fell upon him. At the time, he was embarrassed at being “attacked” by fresh-kill but now, it’s just a simple yet hilarious tale. “It was laying on top of the fresh-kill pile when it used it’s weight to attack kits! So now every time someone brings a plump prey back to camp, it mysterious disappears, probably into the stomach of some lucky cat or haunting around the fresh-kill pile. The end” he said, ending the story.
Beepaw turned his head around, his ears twitching as he noticed his mentor starting to wake up. Maybe this ‘experimenting on Wolfclan kits’ would have to wait, for now. “Good morning Embernose!” He meowed. “I already sorted and went through some of our herbs”
Outside the Clans:
As his followers gather around as if they were in a cult, Sir Pentious felt as confident and boastful as ever. “Followers!” He yowled. “Today, we will once again try to take over the forest and convert those “Wolfclan” sinners into our group” he spoke, grinning as the kittypets yowled in a mixture of agreement and excitement, save for those who were either forced to join or joined just to sit back and watch Pentious and his dumb followers get their tails kicked again by the feral cats.

Stonestar wasn't quite used to being called "Stonestar" yet. He was still much more used to being called Stonepelt, his warrior name. He was about to question Dovetail but then remembered, oh yeah, I am leader now, so my name has become Stonestar. It would certainly take time to get used to being leader, and his new name was not the only part that would need getting adjusted to. It was the whole new role on its own, plus all the new responsibilities that came with it.
This would at least be easier with a deputy, Stonestar thought. Without one, Stonestar himself was in charge of the duties of the deputy on top of being leader. That was why he was approaching Dovetail: so he could send him on patrol both to check the borders and hunt for prey. "I hope your morning is going well, Dovetail," Stonestar meowed before giving orders, "I need you to check the borders and hunt while you are out. Take any cats you would like, but leave some for another border patrol."
Still patiently waiting, Patchfur happened to be near enough to hear Stonestar tell Dovetail to take a patrol, check the borders, and hunt on the way back. The patched tom knew the younger tom would need cats to go on patrol with him, and he didn't mind volunteering. He knew that he would likely be on patrol on way or another, so he might as well go willingly without waiting to be asked.
After rising to his feet, Patchfur padded closer to the two cats. He sat down and waited for the two to finish their conversation, for he didn't want to interrupt, especially since one of the cats involved in the conversation was his leader. Interrupting would be rude, and that was not what Patchfur wanted to be. As soon as Stonestar left, then he would ask Dovetail if he could go on the patrol with him.
Nightfoot was still just sitting in the main part of camp. Suddenly, his belly rumbled with hunger. This didn't surprise him. It had been a long night for him, so it was no wonder that he would be hungry, even after a hard night's rest. Hoping there was enough in the fresh-kill pile to spare this morning, the dark-furred tom rose to his paws and padded over to the fresh-kill pile.
When he got there, he saw Rainfeather, the deputy. Not wanting to be disrespectful, Nightfoot dipped his head in greeting, but he didn't talk as he was busy grabbing a mouse from the prey pile. He felt better seeing that Rainfeather was eating off of something, but he still couldn't help feeling guilty taking something for himself before even asking about going on patrol or anything else. Because of that pressure, he waited for Rainfeather to speak before he took a bite from his mouse.
Dustkit stirred in his nest suddenly, as he felt something tickling the tip of his nose, right where the nostrils were. He opened his eyes just seconds before letting out two sneezes. After sneezing, the small tom was wide awake, although he had just woken up.
Dustkit stood to his paws, stretched his small body, and padded out of the nursery. He knew that something special was going to happen today, as he had just reached his sixth moon. He could hardly contain his excitement over the matter. He was so excited that he barely noticed that his pelt looked like an absolute mess!
Embernose had been out of the medicine den just moments before Beepaw, her apprentice, greeted him. "Good morning to you too, Beepaw!" she meowed to him before responding, "Thanks for already getting started with that! Did you notice any herbs that we were low on? We should go ahead and collect more, since it's still early and the dew probably hasn't been burned off yet."

Finchwhisker nodded his head in agreement. "Yeah, I guess the only thing we can do is wait," he murmured. Tilting his head to the side, he continued the conversation. "So, how have you been recently, Fogflower?"
Sandpaw had given a small awkward dip of her head to Stonestar as he had approached. She glanced down at her paws, caught off-guard by the leader entering in on her conversation with her mentor. When Stonestar had mentioned a patrol, however, the apprentice's ears perked up with interest. "Can I come along, Dovetail?" she asked eagerly.
Fernpatch gave the deputy a quick bob of her head. "Okay," she mewed with a twitch of a whisker. So, if I'm probably going to be on a patrol, I better make sure that it's not what I don't want it to be, she thought. Glancing to the side, she added, "Though, may I request to be on the border patrol rather than the hunting patrol?"
Mintshade let out a soft purr as she listened to the warrior's amusing tale. "I guess I should have it in case it does disappear into another cat's stomach," she replied with a small smile. She bent her head down and took a bite out of the prey, then licking her jaw as she relished the taste. Hmm, not bad, she mused silently.

“Listen up kit, your the one that kicked me!” Rattletail snapped back with a low hiss which at the moment he didn’t care if he woke up or bothered any of his clanmates as he glare back at the slightly younger cat who was just as mad however unluckily they both were stubborn as mules in their ways, “So better watch that tongue of yours or I’ll claw it off for you! Got it?!” He growled which the two have always butted heads whenever against the other for the strangest reasons and both always wanting to get the last word in, the Warrior was about to say another’s insult until he saw a cat by the entrance who had aa scolding glare.
“Rattletail, Spiderfang... outside of this den now, please.” Skystar mewed in a quiet tone to not awake the other cats... granted the two warriors argument probably had woken them all up and not to rise up attention which the leader happened to be passing by the den when he heard them squalling like birds fighting over a worm, the elderly cat padded from the entrance of the warrior’s Den and a little bit away where they still within camp but away so that cats could maneuver around them to go about their day.
Dovetail shrugged a little in response to the leader’s first question however he did nod, “Understood, which border would you like the patrol to go too?.” He mewed which leading a border/hunting patrol was a good start especially this morning which he wanted to know what border they should be going to- it would give him an idea of where they would hunt, he couldn’t help but grin at his apprentice when she asked to come along, “See? If you had slept in then you wouldn’t be able to go out on patrol and hunt.” Did he enjoy teasing his apprentice? Yes, even more so when she learned from them... or at least he hoped she did, the warrior spotted Patchfur patiently awaiting to come up that he figured meant he wished to be apart of their patrol as well.

Sandpaw let out a huff of annoyance at her mentor as she muttered, "I suppose so." Pressing her ears against her head, the apprentice added, "Do you have to tell me 'I told you so', though? Well, okay, you didn't really, but still. I get the point without you putting emphasis on it."
“Alright I’ll stop,” Dovetail mewed as the gray tom looked at his apprentice who seemed to be done with him at this point, he didn’t need to emphasize it to her however he wanted to make sure that she understood what he was trying to say earlier which he glanced over at their leader with him still awaiting the other tom’s response to his question regarding where they should head too.

"I'd like you to head toward the Descending Path," Stonestar quickly replied, for he had already made up his mind on which border to send Dovetail to. It was away from dangerous areas like Eagle's Nest, which made it easier to take apprentices on, and that was what he was going for. Stonestar felt that it was for the best. He would take another patrol toward Thunderous Current. It was further out, but that was why he had assigned the hunting duties to Dovetail's patrol.

Sandpaw glanced at her mentor with perked ears. "Isn't that the path the Clan takes when heading to the Gathering?" she asked with a flick of her tail. Even though she had been an apprentice for three moons now, she hadn't been to a Gathering yet. Now that she thought about it, she hardly ever heard any news about the other Clans whenever there was a Gathering.
Dovetail nodded to the leader with him noting down it was a good place to hunt, “Yes and it is also a border for our territory.” He mewed to his apprentice which the pathway helped to act as a way to the gathering place which it was not only a safer route for them to travel but also easier on their paws when walking a somewhat long way, “Now let us go gather cats for the patrol.” He added with him addressing both the leader and his apprentice.

Sandpaw gave a small bob of her head, eager to go on the patrol. "Okay!" she mewed. It was kind of odd that a few moments ago, she had been asking to sleep in and now she wanted to do something. Maybe the realization that she wasn't doing the elders' ticks the whole day helped wake her up.
Dovetail dipped his head in respect to the leader then walking over to the warrior Patchfur who had been patiently waiting for the conversation to finish, “Good morning Patchfur, care to join the border patrol? We will be hunting as well.” The warrior mewed in greeting along with a quick summary of what was to follow if the other warrior truly wanted to accompany them and perhaps another cat on this patrol.
