This is a kind of random idea, but I was thinking recently how I can't seem to find just a solid list of easy ways to get to know your characters/character building exercises that work for me. Please add on things that you do or ways you find it fun to develop interesting characters.
Here are some random/silly questions I ask myself: (not all of them are mine)
If they were in a modern highschool setting, which clique would they be in? How much sleep do they need vs how much sleep do they get? How many friends do they have vs how many friends they want If they get crushes on other characters, how often, how badly, and for how long? (also what kind of person do they crush on) What kind of music do they listen to? Compare them to themselves in modern vs fantasy If they woke up one morning with animal features, which animal would they be?
Make a list of random favorite things
Unrelated, one thing that i really love to do is create a character based entirely off of their flaw. To come up with a main, ruining flaw first, and then create a character around that. What can happen is if you create a character without flaws first, adding a flaw later can feel like an afterthought, and is often played as such. If any of you have seen me play my rogue character Dark, you can see she has few flaws, and the one's she has are minor and do not change the story. However with say, Peridot, or Hibiscus, their flaws are much more prominent and often effect their actions.
Do any of you have tips or preferences or exercises? Honestly I just really love to discover new things about my characters. Feel free to answer some of the questions above.
(i dont really know what the purpose of this post is but i think it'll be interesting)

This is great! One thing I think would be good is maybe making up a conversation with your Oc? Idk why, it just makes me feel like I know them even better. All you have to is say hi and ask questions

I've got lots of questions for anyone interested!
1.) Would your character choose to save someone they love or the world? 2.) What would completely break your character 3.) Does your children like children? Why or why not?
----
I'll do an example with my characters!
Normis- 1.) He'd choose the world. Hes spent so long proving himself and trying to be good enough. I don't think he could just leave the world to die without doing something.
2.) Being thrown aside for his brother. Being told hes not good enough for someone he deeply cares about.
3.) Nope. He raised basically two of them, and he didn't enjoy it. They're cute young, sure, but when they get older..?

Ooh interesting! I’ll do one for Kathrine!:
1.) She would choose her sister. Lucy is her only family member left, and she made an oath to always protect her. 2.) Probably if she lost Lucy, or Bella(her girlfriend). Like before, she made an oath to protect Lucy, Bella was the only person who actually tried understanding Kathrine, and ended helping her. 3.) Definitely! Kathrine really likes kids, and always lives listening to their ideas. Ass a child, Kathrine didn’t have very good parents. So, she likes visiting kids in orphanages, hoping to show that they are loved.
