Changing the name of the mate?

So i wanna know if its possible to change the name of your mate. I'm making a themed file, and i really want to be able to do this. I attempted opening the save file in a text document and changing it there, but referenced by the fact that it didn't work when i did, and it also didn't work when i changed it back, there are some things that notepad just cant do. If there is an ingame way, that would be splendid, but if not, does anyone know how to do it through the files?

Is this a rogue camp or in one of the four clans? As far as I know, you can't edit them in a text document like that.

Rogue. Also, if you go in the text document of your save, there actually is the name of your assigned mate if you look hard enough. there is also firstplayername, lastplayername, and full name amongst all the gargle.
