Heather smirked. "Sure, but don't throw a huge fit if you lose." she teased. Because of the fact that she hadn't been practicing, she could only go a little bit farther than what she used to be able to do. Just about thirty-two miles was her maximum. But she had never gone that far, afraid that she'd have a major headache. "Do you want to go first, or should I?" she asked in a challenging tone.

(ok ok i'll rp here ;;v;; but may doesn't have much to say at this point) May nodded distractedly. He was rather new here, but that didn't mean that she didn't take full enjoyment in his plight. She'd lived here for almost 7 months now, she marked it off on a calendar similarly to how one would mark off days in a prison. She worked on her ability with her mentor, of course, but she also practiced on the poor, passing people outside her window. That, for the most part, meant a lot of confused pedestrians clucking like chickens (one of her favorite 'warm-ups'), or a child breaking down into tears, desperately searching for a teddy bear they soon realized was clutched tight in their pudgy little fist. He was a relatively new addition, she supposed. She twirled a flowering clover in her hand, with a cheerful bloom tinged with pink. She crushed it and dropped it to the ground behind her, turning to the mentor and the apprentice, eyes sparkling to watch Ollie fail again.
Oliver glanced around and crouched, his elbows folded between his body. Biting his lip and furrowing his eyebrows, he drew all of his attention onto the large black crow, which was obediently, and bravely settled in its spot. Black, beady eyes stared up at the boy and he smiled, going for another try. His eyes flashed red, and in that moment, the crow flapped defiantly while it's beak opened wide, releasing it's signature shaky, piercing loud caw. Tapping the top of the bird's beak, it stepped back and looked elsewhere. Standing up, and whirling around to face his mentor and May, the boy looked satisfied with this. He knew there was more to do.

Kuroba watched in silence as her apprentice did all of this, nodding silently. She blinked in surprise when the crow squawked and waited for him to finish, then clapped in approval. "Nice going, Ollie! I knew you had it in you!" That was, of course, a very basic task, but it meant progress for him to do it so quickly. Turning her head to May, she commented, "Want me to teach you with yours or should I keep going with him?"

The boy made the haughty bird squawk. May scowled. He was learning. She slapped on a smile as Kuroba addressed her. "Oh, sure," she said, tugging on her braid shyly. "I'd like to try- but I'm really not any good." She flashed a glare at Ollie before smiling sweetly. "What should I do first?"
Not all that confused, he caught the glare and instead, directed a smile towards May. This wasn't new at all, and Oliver really didn't mind all that much, anyway. "You're much better than me, though! I've seen you come out to practice behind the building occasionally," he piped, his aura bright as usual. He wasn't one to eavesdrop, but he really was curious as to why that cloud started morphing into a dagger!

Kuroba smiled softly as the two conversed, silently totally shipping it. "Oh! Um, let's see." She began thinking of how to train May. "Uh, okay. Perception, right? Can you read minds already or just transfer thoughts?" It was a fair question, since it was most likely easier to transfer thoughts, since it didn't include actually getting into someone's mind, just sending a message to them. Glancing up, she began to wonder why Jay wasn't back yet. She supposed he and Heather could have just gotten to talking too much. Signing, Kuro wished he would return. She got a little lonely when he wasn't around.

Jay grinned at the challenge, chuckling. "Alright then. I'll set the standard." He told her, glancing around as he thought of something to focus on. He closed his eye, deciding to go east as he activated his ability, concentrating. Immediately his vision branched out, sweeping over the area. He pushed his sight out a little more, his eye narrowing as he came upon the hideout. He saw Kuroba outside with May and Olliver, her expression focused. She'd taken his student on, it seemed. A little longer couldn't hurt, right? So he continued on, branching his gaze steadily out until he reached 30 miles. "I'm at 30." He said out loud, smirking.

Heather looked at Jay in slight astonishment. "Thirty?" she echoed, trying to hide the surprise in her voice. She ran her fingers through her hair in thought. "Okay," she said, contemplating whether she should go that far or not. Deciding she'd go farther, she smirked before closing her eyes. Focusing on expanding her vision, Heather first went to five miles. Then to fifteen. But being at fifteen began to give her the slightest headache. Ignoring it, she pushed on farther. Heather clenched her fists into tight balls as the pain grew, and finally she couldn't go any further. Noticing she was probably at twenty-seven miles, she opened her eyes and let her head fall into her palms, her fingers beginning to rub her forehead.

Frustrated, she redirected her gaze to Kuroba and tilted her head innocently, as if she had to adjust to the question being asked. She blew her bangs from her face before speaking. "Yeah, perception." she beamed, "I can do some of both, but once I got lost in Jay's mind when trying to read his thoughts!" She leaned close to Kuroba and giggled, "There's a lot of weird stuff in there... I promised him that I wouldn't tell! But I suppose I can tell that I saw a lot of you in there!"

Kuroba flushed a little bit, twirling her hair and smiling softly. "Oh, ha-ha, r-really..? That's sweet." She stared at the ground, smiling to herself. For a moment, she wondered if Jay could see how happy she was. Shaking her head, she thought for a moment. "Okay, I'll make my mind a bit more open. Now, I'm going to focus on one thing, and you have to guess what it is. Pretty easy, right?" Closing her eyes, she focused on one though--tomatoes. It was a simple and delicious thought.
(This needs a bump haha I made it sort of short in case this actually is dead TuT)
Oliver smiled as he watched his mentor's expression. She looked delighted, and yet embarrassed. An expression he hasn't wore in a while! "May, are you good enough to be able to win at every hide and seek game?" he laughed, rubbing his eyes. He didn't wear his contacts today, since sometimes they melt, or maybe just vanish whenever he uses his ability. He walked backwards, using memory as a guide and sat down on a heavy crate.

With her apprentice's words, Kuroba snapped out of her thoughts and her face brightened. "Hide and seek! That's a great idea! You can measure the distance of your ability, and if it works well enough to see where we're hiding!" She grinned, giving Oliver a little pat on the head. "Good thinking, Ollie-o." utamaruru mango sago
