My cat Copper has a scratch behind his right ear and keeps scratching it, making it bleed. He has had this scratch for a while, but he won't leave it alone. I have been trying to get my parents to take him to the vet, but they want to see if there is something we could put on it from home or something like that.
Do any of you guys know what we can do?

I wouldn’t know anything about what to do, but here is a website that I found: linkI can’t really do anything else but I hope that this somewhat helped.

Maybe you could put, like, a pet cone on his head?? It sounds stupid, but it would make it so he couldn't scratch that spot.

I was thinking that! Or maybe put something on The cut?

My mom put some kind of coconut oil on it, but it's still bleeding.
I'll look at that site, Silent.

It's a small wound, it should heal on its own. Try cleaning and disinfecting it, that way it should heal faster. Copper is probably scratching it because it itches, but that normally means that it's healing. At least that's what my parents told me xD
If it keeps bleeding, then the next thing I can suggest is taking him to the vet. Not sure how to prevent him from scratching it, though.
I hope he gets well soon!

It is still bleeding (or at least bloodstained) from earlier, when this thread was made about an hour ago. It has scabbed over before already, but when that happens, he scratches it, reopening the injury.

Well, there's nothing wrong with wearing a cone. I would just take him to a vet. The only other thing I can think of would be putting some hydrogen peroxide on a bandaid and putting it on the scratch. It you would have to let it come off on its own though.

I don't think that bandaids are likely to stick to a cat's fur. And from what I've read from doing research is that cats are likely to pull the bandaid off of themselves, causing more pain than necessary. So I don't necessarily think a bandaid is a good idea.

Yeah. I'm not very intelligent on this topic but I think the vet would be best.
