(That sounds good. I'll go ahead and start, I'm eager to roleplay! :3)
A girl with long, black hair that trailed down her back stepped on campus. She breathed in the familiar smell of the school grounds; fresh, green grass, the tang of sap in the air from a nearby grove of pines, and flowers. She was excited at first, like last year, but her excitement faded quickly. She knew that she wouldn't have any friends to go and talk to, but instead, knew a bit about everyone going, and their rank. "Well, I'm a Pigeon. A powerless Pigeon..." She mumbled aloud, casting her gaze downwards with shame. Everybody else had either already had a power from previously, or had found it during the school year last year. A whole year, however, had passed without her ever finding a hint as to what her power could possibly be. War Paint was a possibility, but who really knew? A sigh escaped her lips, frustration, jealousy, and sadness in the tone of it. What I don't have a power? She asked herself silently, then shook her head. No, Mai, don't think like that. You'll find it eventually! The girl, Mai, thought to herself yet again, accompanied with silence as usual.

Kouki was already on campus, having arrived there early that morning. He lived on his own anyway; he didn't need to worry about waking his family. A slight breeze made his clothes slap lightly against his skin, and the edges of the pages flap from the book in his hands, his visible eye gliding over the words written. He was sitting in the garden area near the Bridge, alone at a small table, though he wasn't at all bothered by this. Actually, he preferred it to someone coming up to him and talking, powerless or not. He himself held a fairly high rank in Yamaguchi, but he didn't care about talking to someone lower in rank than him. In fact, he didn't want to talk to anyone, and thus avoided people as best he could. He leaned back in his chair, letting out a soft breath as he turned the page of his book, absorbed into its story. He remained silent, and if someone didn't originally know he was there already, they would probably jump when they did notice him.

Mai started walking towards the garden, intent on sitting alone under the shade of a tree and thinking. The quiet sound of a book page turning caught her ears, and she followed, but it was lost all too quickly, and she returned to the task at hand. When she reached the garden, she spooked a bit at a boy's 'sudden' presence. It was Kouki, she realized, after studying his features for a few seconds. The shade of a particularly large tree drew her to it as she sat down and leaned against its broad trunk. "Which book?" She asked Kouki, hoping he wouldn't lash out or ignore him.

Kouki blinked as he heard approaching footsteps, his gaze not lifting from the words on the page he was reading. If he made eye contact with the person, it would give them the silent permission to start a conversation with him, and he would rather not do so. He heard them walk past him, but they stopped only a little ways away. He could only assume they were sitting down; there were a lot of tables around, so that was a high chance. He didn't respond when he heard the question, though he vaguely recognized the voice of a younger girl. He'd never really associated himself with her either way, so he probably wouldn't know her name. He simply shifted a little in his seat, choosing to simply ignore her rather than respond.

Whatever, Kouki... Mia thought silently, staring now at the book and attempting to see the title. All she could see was a sliver of a letter that she couldn't make out from that angle. He's a high-ranking loner, anyway, why would he care about the likes of me? Ran though her head as her eyes closed, the shade keeping her cool and the sun out of her eyes.

Katashi was seated on one of the park benches outside the school building. The day had not officially started yet, so he was at work, busy eating one of the BLT sandwiches his mother made for him before she sent him off for another year away. He was looking forward to meeting some of his old friends again. Of course, he did need them to take a couple sandwiches off his hands, anyway. Katashi was starting his senior year at this school, and was also hopeful that he'd actually get something done in this grade. His eyes were bright as his gaze flitted about, examining the first years with great interest. It was always fun to see them every year, and he liked watching their faces on the first day, evident of nervous terror and hope. They reminded him of his past self, whom reveled in watching the high-ranked students battle. He adjusted the bag slung over his shoulder as he headed inside the school building.

Soon enough, it seemed, he heard the familiar jumble of voices echoing from across the Bridge, mixed together into one swelling noise. He sighed softly; hopefully everyone would simply leave him alone for the time being. He knew he would have to socialize at some point, whether it be with first-years or seniors, and honestly dreaded that time. He frowned slightly, turning another page of his book quietly, briefly listening to a group of first-years babbling on about the campus and how excited they were about the coming year and such. He remembered how he was on his first day of school, starting off as a Pigeon who had no confidence in himself and was fascinated with Matches, seeing them as a way to prove himself. He'd been a loner even then; now it was just seen as arrogance because of his ranking. He didn't particularly care nowadays; he quite enjoyed his time on his own. He was also able to observe others as they made their ways around the campus, mainly listening to their conversations as they passed him by, tilting his head ever so slightly towards them so he could heard more clearly. His gaze remained on his book, though.

Mai sighed as well. "First-years. They hardly know what they've got coming to them. Hopefully none get left in the dust, like me..." She said to no one in particular, but hoping slightly that Kouki would respond somehow. He was the only person in her vision or hearing range that she knew anything about currently, and was lonely, so it was natural for her to try, at least, to have someone to talk to. It was a bit like having a dog around transient understand what you were saying, But talking to them anyway because there's nothing better to do.

It was quiet for a while, thankfully; well, quiet enough. People left him alone, at least. Mostly... He recognized the voice of the girl from earlier. She didn't seem to be speaking directly to anyone, though he had a feeling she was looking for someone to respond. He finally lifted his gaze from his book, looking up and around him coolly. And of course, no one else seemed to be around that was paying any attention. He sighed, rather loudly so she might hear him over the hubbub of conversations around them. "Who knows?" He answered simply, his voice sounding irritated. He looked back down at his book again, his bangs almost completely covering up the left side of his face and blocking the sight from his left eye. It didn't bother him much, though. He was used to seeing that way.
