Mai was pleased that Kouki had actually replied to her comment, bit she only let it show with a slight quirk of the edges of her lips. She remained quiet now, not speaking to the now-irritated Kouki, or anybody else that happened to come into sight. There was one kid with a few friends, snickering and pointing. Obviously first-years that thought she and Kouki were dating, or that one had a crush on the other. "Oh, shoo, first-years. We're not even friends." She scoffed to them, turning her head and glaring at them until they left.

Yvonne was running somewhat late, but nonetheless walked nonchalantly from the towers around to the front of the school, taking her sweet old time. On the first day, there was nothing happening but initiation of the flitting and panicky first years. She snickered at a couple that stood staring at her passing by, who quickly dispersed as if nothing had happened. Sighing, she tugged at a loose end of ribbon. They sure don't make first years like they used to. She thought, fondly recalling the day when she'd tied for first in the Rookie Competition when she'd began coming here. For half of the competition, her power wasn't even awakened yet, she just attacked them with her fists and left them trembling. Speaking of the devil, she saw the retreating back of the person she'd tied with, a guy with snowy white hair and a bag slung over his shoulder, tossing out the remnants of a BLT. Darting up to him, she did a somersault into a pounce onto his back, startling him a great deal. She knocked him in the head with her palm goodnaturedly before dismounting, grinning cheerfully at him. "How'd you like that, old man?" She adjusted her own school bag, filled with a canteen of coffee and a pillow. "It's been a while."
Masaru waited outside the school with his crowd, a rather rowdy bunch that set the trends. After mentioning getting an energy drink, he started off towards a vending machine a little while away. Ducking out of sight from his friends, he took some hand sanitizer and scrubbed his hands where they high-fived them. Ew Ew Ew... He chanted in his head, practically rubbing his skin off. With a deep breath, he swaggered back into view, pulling a cleanly creased dollar bill from his pocket and entering the number for the energy drink. It came in a peculiar bottle shaped somewhat like a pill, and they often changed its look, having collectible and limited edition bottles. He peered into the depths of the vending machine, but found no new bottles to collect. Disappointed, he attempted to insert his bill for it nonetheless, but it became jammed. He pulled it back out again and flattened it against the edge of the vending machine. He tried to put in the dollar, but it wouldn't take it no matter how he inserted it. Frustrated, he jammed the dollar bill into the crevice and it accepted it, but did not record the amount, and his dollar bill disappeared, never to be seen again. He banged against the machine, silently fuming.

Kouki rolled his eyes from where he was in his seat, his back to the girl who was speaking. He glanced around, noticing the group of first-years who had apparently been pointing and snickering towards them. He narrowed his eyes some, tempted to teach them a lesson, but they seemed to get the message enough and scattered away. Shaking his head he returned to reading his book, set on ignoring everyone around him. If anything, he'd like to finish this chapter, which was about five or six more pages. He let out a breath. Maybe he could do a little training today, despite it being only the first day of school. He didn't really care about that, besides knowing there would be a lot more Pigeons at Yamaguchi. He knew a few people in different combat clubs that might be itching to spar, anyways. Even though he was considered the loner, he was most social when it came to fighting, in any and every form, powers or not. Inwardly he smiled, though it didn't show at all on his face. He simply was concentrating on reading.
Yume walked along the campus of the school, taking in the sights of everything around her. 'It is finally the new school year,' she thought to herself, 'It feels like only yesterday it was the end of the year and beginning of summer break.' While thinking to herself before she knew it she made it to the garden over by the Bridge, "Ah! I went her without thinking!" She thought aloud. "I guess I should tend to the flowers while here." She said before going over to a flower bed which grew weeds during the vacation from school. She started to carefully pull out the weeds making sure that she got them roots and all. After a while she stood up and gazed at her work. "It's a start, I should get ready for classes so I can work more later.."She smiled when she noticed a flower bud gently starting to grow out of the ground. "The autumn flowers will be growing soon." She said delighted. Her parents used to own a flower shop before they died and so it is closed for now, in the care of her aunt and uncle, she hopes that she'll be able to take ownership of it once she graduates."Well, I better get going." Yume said as she started to brush the dirt of off her clothes as she grabbed her bag, going off towards the main building.

A tall, skinny girl with bright pink hair braided perfectly into thick pigtails that she had over her shoulders, they reached her waist. Walked around just off center of the campus crossed her arms and hid her hands under her arm pits and looked down to the ground. /Should I eat? Pigeons don't get a lot food... Maybe I should see if someone wants to join my club. But people wouldn't want a Pigeomn leader.../ she looked to her left /Maybe I'll just wait for class... or see if I can't find any animals? I should probably get Ruby ready for hibernation.../ she uncrossed her arms and lifted up her head.

After sitting dejectedly in front of the vending machine for a couple of minutes, Masaru decided get up and find a way to get his dollar back. After charming a screwdriver out of a nearby second-year girl who was part of the Tinker's Club, he attempted to find someplace where he could screw it open, but, seeing none, he frowned and sat back down. He'd always thought that he could just open up the machine and be drowned in the endless coins and dollars inside. He adjusted his hair and retied his bandana, but didn't move afterwards, he just wanted to look good while upset.

Kouki finished a few more pages, now completely ignoring the other students rushing by and talking around him in their groups, first-years or not. He became engrossed in his book, his gaze following the trail of words that was the story. He adjusted his position slightly, blinking and letting out a breath as he crossed his legs under him loosely, stretching out. He was glad class hadn't started yet; there were some classes he did enjoy, but others he found to be more of a bore if anything. Not to mention the fact that he would probably have to socialize with people. Yay...he frowned slightly, only a crinkling down of his lips as he read.

Some snarky third-year Hawks passed, commenting about Mai being such a nerd and a loner. "Brats." Mai sneered, and stalked off to the vending machine, in hopes of either getting a snack or finding someone who would talk to her; a powerless, second-year Pigeon. She saw a boy at the nearby bench, looking a bit disappointed. She waved and smiled softly in greeting, and sat down near him.

Masaru glanced up as a girl approached. He recognized her face, she was a second-year pigeon, but couldn't recall her name. He nodded in greeting and continued moping over his lost dollar, turning the screwdriver over in his hands. The orientation would be happening soon. He would have to get up before then, but his legs refused to move, though his brain insisted that he leave for exhibition battle. They always did put on a great show.

"Lose your dollar?" Mai asked him. That was probably why he looked so dejected. She had a dollar to spare; maybe it would earn her a friend, or at least an ally. School was glum without friends, until matches, at least. Those were always exciting, at least.

He nodded sadly, but then pursed his lips and glared, narrow-eyed at her. "How'd you know?" He asked, suspiciously. He'd had girls essentially 'stalk' him in the past, especially first and second years, and, frankly, was rather creeped out by it. Concerned that she was just the same, he moved away some, rubbing some more hand sanitizer onto his rather clean hands.

"Well, you're right next to the snack machine, and you look like kinda down, so I just assumed." Mai said. "I've got a dollar to spare, if you want to try for a snack again." She added.

Katashi almost squeaked as he felt something, or someone, forcefully latch onto his back. His steps faltering, the boy caught himself just in time as the sudden weight on his upper half nearly caused him to topple over. "Old man?" he murmured under his breath as he realized who that person just was. His posture immediately straightened itself up as his fingers traced up the straps of his bag, his fingers grasping it lightly. He ran a hand through his slightly tousled hair, his eyes deciding to wander. "Mm, it's nice to see you again," he said with a smirk that quickly morphed into a smile. (mango sago)

"You got any more of your mom's sandwiches?" Yvonne asked eagerly. They were a favorite of hers, and she hadn't had one in weeks. Plus, she was rather hungry, her stomach grumbling faintly. She began to walk along again. "I didn't have breakfast." She complained, reaching into her bag for her canteen of coffee, freshly wrapped fists grasping the bottle and swiftly extracting it from the bag. She lifted it to her mouth and took a tentative sip, instantly brightening at the boost of energy.
Masaru paused and stared at the other girl for a moment, but finally gave in. After all, she was offering a dollar. "That would be great, but I couldn't possibly accept your money." He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly, embarrassed at being so cautious.
