"Bah, nonsense. I've got enough money to support myself here." Mai said with a dismissive wave to the problem. "Besides, I might as well try to have a friend or ally around here somewhere." She added, accidentally letting her thoughts slip past her lips.

He cocked an eyebrow at the girl. Doesn't she have friends? Or am I confusing her with someone else? He shook his head adamantly. "I'm good, thanks." He said, somewhat more upbeat. "Do you have any change though? I have a five dollar bill, but no more ones," he said, glaring at the nearby vending machine "and that darn thing only accepts ones." He yawned somewhat tiredly, tightening the strap of his satchel.

"Hm? Yeah, I do." Katashi opened the flap of his bag and it was stuffed to the brim with sandwiches. He was thankful someone came to take some away. An outstretched hand held up a brown paper bag containing three of the said sandwiches. "You can put the remains in your fridge later if you want," he said, smiling at her expression after she took a sip of her beloved coffee. Her eyes looked brighter in a way, and he wondered how that could be caused by a drink, of all things. "My mother adds some stuff so that it doesn't expire or grow moldy for a pretty long time. Scary!"

Mai brushed her bangs further back behind her embarrassment. "S-sorry, it just slipped out..." She muttered almost inaudibly to him, then handed him five ones. "Yeah, I've got change." She said, as if nothing had happened a moment before.

"Pff! That makes it taste better." She said, eagerly grabbing the brown paper bag. "Don't eat the rest, either. I'll have these three finished by the end of the day." She grabbed one from the bag and took a bite happily, dropping her canteen back into her school bag. Cutting through the crowd of buzzing first years, the president of the Student Council found them quickly. He was a senior and an eagle himself, but had injured his arm and could not partake in the exhibition match as he usually did. "Sorry to bother you two." He said hurriedly, "But could you two do a 1-on-1 this year as a separate match? Great, thanks." He said, blowing away and bulldozing through the crowd. After a pause of shocked silence, Yvonne spoke. "Ugh, he's always irritated me." Yvonne growled, gripping the precious sandwich tightly. "Maybe we dont want to."

Masaru smiled empathetically, handing her the five dollar bill and taking the five ones himself. He trotted over to the vending machine and easily slipped in a dollar bill. "It's alright, happens to the best of us." He crouched and picked up his bottle before walking a little ways past the bench. "Oh, sorry. Where are my manners? You need an escort? The orientation's beginning soon."

"I'm probably not going to eat the rest, anyway," he said, his expression sunk as he realized that. Watching a figure approach from the corner of his eye, he was surprised as the president came for their help. He felt proud to be chosen, but then again, there were only a few other Eagles besides them. Though he kept that thought to himself. "I guess I don't really want to, but it's our last semester here, anyway. Let's kick it off with the first match!" he smirked, his eyes lighting up. He was ready to defeat her once and for all.

(;v; Let's see how this develops haha) Masaru nodded promptly, beginning to stroll back to the main building, where his friends had already entered the building. He paused for a moment to watch the changing leaves, sipping on his energy drink happily. He glanced back at the other girl, who was packing up her stuff and following after.

Yvonne smirked at him, punching him in the shoulder lightly. "Eager to beat me, eh?" She teased. "It's not happening, bud. I've been training all summer. Plus, if we try to actually beat each other, the first years wouldn't even be able to see what's going on, it happens so fast." She kicked up some dust, with an angry huff. "We have to put on a show, you know. Anyways, let's get to the arena." She said, whipping around and heading back to the front door.

"Hah, if you say so," he said, rubbing his shoulder even though it didn't hurt. "Right, right, I'll just add some effects with yellow, I guess." Katashi said simply, tailing after the girl. He figured the two would need to get there first before the match, as the others would start to pile in after them. Usually, the principal would make a welcoming speech to the returning students and the first years immediately before he introduced the first two competitors. They had reached their destination, and with a nod to the other, he slipped inside the side doors of the Arena.

Mai followed the boy, her eyes darting back and forth for first-years. There were some, but they didn't seem a threat to her. Not yet, at least. "I'm Mai, by the way." Mao introduced herself, but before she could hold out her hand for the boy to shake, Masaru, she remembered his name now, she was shoved roughly aside as another second-year pushed past her. "Out of the way, stupid second-year Pigeon." He sneered.

Yvonne smiled, slipping into a narrow passageway of the arena. It was often closed off, but it lead straight to the stage, and she was too tired to go through the crowd. Having finished the sandwich, she pulled out her canteen again and took a swig, trotting down the dimly lit hallway. Her hands tingled with excitement. She hadn't sparred in a long while, and last year she'd been developing a sub-ability she liked to call firework. It might just be the time to use it, combined with Katashi's yellow. She hummed, tightening her wraps. They burn off during battle anyways, but they stay on fire for a little while longer if tighter, and that's quite a sight to those who havent seen it before. Energized again, she did a quick sprint and ducked under an archway into the edge of the stage, and dropped her stuff off at the pit area, having got there before Katashi.

Masaru arched an eyebrow at the second-year, who he knew as a friend's younger brother. Meeting his gaze, the younger student frowned and disappeared into his own crowd of friends. "That was Kei." He called over his shoulder. "He can be pretty annoying, but I'm sure he meant no harm. He does make good peanut-butter sandwiches." He took another swig of his drink and stopped again to let her catch up.

"May not seem much harm to you, but he bullies ME every time he gets the chance, because he's got a pretty good power, and is a Hawk, where as I, like he said, am a pigeon, without so much as a hint of a power." Mai said bitterly, her bitterness directed at Kei.
