I summon Phoenix to this thread hehehe I just finished reading the first book in the Legend of Drizzt series. I am not going to review the books as I read them, but rather I think I will do a review of the overall series if I get that far, when I'm finished. This thread will not be spoiler free, as I will presumably discuss things that happen in the books as I finish them. As for Book 1, I enjoyed it despite it not being the type of book I typically read in terms of tone. The character dynamics are particularly interesting and the worldbuilding is interesting as well. I would say those are the two strongest points this book has. I really like dnd, and haven't spent a lot of time learning about the Underdark, so it's fun to delve deeper into the lore. Anyway... RIP Zak, you were probably the best dad in Menzzabenza or whatever it's called ((I just looked it up again it's Menzoberranzan)). Best character is Guenhwyvar the astral panther and very good boy.

Zaknafein was a good parent for a dark elf, but for dark elves, the bar is set extremely low

Yes exactly Although I'd be curious to see what family dynamics are like in commoner families as opposed to nobles

Unfortunately I don't think theres any drow material that focus on commoner family dynamics, but I'd guess that they're probably more chill considering life sucks and they can't afford trying to murder each other

I want the commoner materials give them to meeeeee But yeah I don't think they'd try to murder each other. Do you think there might be actual friendships?

Yeah, I think it's a lot more likely than friendships between the nobles
Did you get your hands on Exile yet?

Fiiiine I will rephrase I will have to see if I think he is charming enough to excuse his lack of hair uwu
Tbh though I'm not really fond of rogues whose loyalty is swayed by coin or what not. That was just the impression I got from him from the little I've read so far, so I'm hoping there's a lot more to him than that

Oh don't worry, you're only on book 2 so far. It takes a while but he's actually a very interesting (and entertaining) character. There's a good reason why people like him so much, even some folks who don't like LoD

Hmmm... well I will trust your judgment then
What do you think are the best and worst books in the series?
