Full control is overstating it. There are somethings your subconscious will not allow you to do--at least, if you are new to lucid dreaming. This is because your subconscious is more inclined to some things like, if you wanted a lucid boyfriend or girl friend, your subconscious might not allow for your ideal partner to just pop out of thin air. Many report when they try something like that, that the individual they imagined just disappears or morphs into something ugly. This is because your subconscious is looking to get to know the person before jumping into something like that. You also might have trouble controlling large things such as scene changes, and there are some really stubborn things such as specific dream symbols your subconscious mind will not let you delete. The following contains mildly suggestive content. I once had a dream in which I entered the dream completely conscious. The background started as a forest background and one of my friends (who is now my boyfriend) holding a symbol which can be associated with female fertility. Angry at what my subconscious was possibly telling me, I tried to make the object and my friend disappear but I had no control over them. It was really annoying because I was so frustrated that I could not control a specific aspect of my dream that I basically wasted the lucid awareness on nothing. Things I could change though were the scenes (to an extent) I could give myself the power to make other things disappear. I believe I gave myself laser vision at one point.

Those who know me love me. Those who don't know me love me from afar.
Wow. So how do you lucid dream?

There's two way to enter the lucid state. One is falling asleep conscious and the other is coming to a moment of realization in your dream that your surroundings are not real and not waking up from it. If your afraid of sleep paralysis though, I would recommend option one for you go through that state when your body first falls asleep.

it's difficult to explain. Basically you have to stay still, completely still, for twenty to thirty minutes. Then you feel a rough vibration (except you are not vibrating, your body is just entering stage one of sleep.) and then you enter sleep paralysis for about five minutes.

Well,, I can barely stay still for 10 minutes, so ill just go with option two, sleep paralysis wont be that bad right?

It's not in most cases. However, some people report seeing creepy and appalling hallucinations during this state. These are normally triggered from the fear of not being able to move so the more you get comfortable with it the less likely you will be scared.

I've had a few lucid dreams in my life. I can remember two of them very perfectly xD
I usually wake up right after I realize than I'm dreaming but I can remember the two times when I didn't. So this one day I realized that I was dreaming but then decided not to wake up yet and enjoy the dream a little bit longer... until I realized it was Friday. Then I woke up, because school -.-
The other one was a few weeks after my mom died. In the dream I woke into the living room. My mom was doing something in the kitchen, my 4 year old sister playing with her toys and my dad watching the TV. Then I suddenly realized that my mom was dead and that it must've been a dream so I began doing crazy stuff like for example, try to fly XD Then i wanted to jump off the balcony but I was afraid that I was gonna do it in real life so I stopped. Then I woke up. Fortunately I wasn't standing on the balcony xD
I often see mom in my dreams and I still remember the incident so in my dreams I try to warn her about what will happen to her to prevent it, but I never get the chance because something always keeps interrupting me... and I think I know what it is.

Okay I just had sleep paralysis! It was the scaryest thing ever! Okay so I was really tired and was falling asleep in like 4 seconds and then in the third dream, I knew I was dreaming so I thought "Hey! Ishould have a llucid dream!" (I know I was already in a lucid dream but dream didn't!) So I woke up and it was all green and wavy, lots of warpaling noise and I couldn't move! I woke up screaming!

I read somewhere that if you keep a journal of your dreams you have a bigger chance to lucid dream. I'm too lazy to keep a journal so I just try to stay aware during my dreams, even though it's pretty impossible. Sometimes when my dream is really unrealistic I feel like playing a video game or something instead of realizing it's too unrealistic to be real. I'm stupid.
