Wavecrash nodded at Applepaw, then looked towards Rainpaw. "So, I hear that you're medicine cat's apprentice now? I hope Goldenblaze learns how to cope with you, just like she did with me." she said. She was happy for her former apprentice for finally doing what made her happy. She could tell that she wasn't satisfied with her old, warrior, life.

Applepaw glanced back at him, still smirking. "You'd sure scare off all the prey with that yowling you're doing!" Her voice was a bit quieter, as if to make her point.

Lightningpaw flattened his ears but couldn't think of a retort. Instead, he bounded off into the woods, planning on trying his best to catch more prey than Applepaw. Stupid fire elemental, he thought. I need Pondheart to teach me how to make it rain in a specific spot. Then I could make it rain on her whenever she's being annoying, which is always.

"I got him to join!" she mewed, flicking her tail happily. She began stalking some prey. She kept her jaws open until she found a mouse trail. Applepaw followed it happily, keeping her nose low to the ground. Finally, the mouse came into sight. She leapt immediately and landed on it, biting it to kill it. However, the jump wasn't flawless. Her legs were a bit wide-spread. But at least I made the kill, she thought to herself. She began trying to find another animal trail.

Lightningpaw: Lightningpaw sniffed around the undergrowth. After a couple minutes, he caught the smell of something...vaguely familiar, but strange. He followed the trail, finally seeing something move. He wiggles his hindquarters, preparing to pounce, when the prey hissed and turned around. His eyes widened. "Adder!" He yelped jumping back.
Sparkfire: Sparkfire sat out in the clearing trying without much success to create and throw fire into a hole, something she was planning on working with Applepaw on. But her concentration had never been the best, and the fire usually faded away before it landed. Once or twice it did land....but in the wrong place. She growled in frustration. How was she ever going to teach her apprentice something she hadn't fully mastered herself?

Applepaw's ears perked and she picked up the limp mouse and began running. She burst into a clearing and saw an adder facing Lightningpaw. She hissed, but backed up as the snake slithered forward. "Help!" she yowled. She ran out of the clearing, buried her prey, and came back. She growled at the adder.

Sparkfire'a ears perked up as she heard her apprentice's distant call. She cursed under her breath. Why did she let her apprentice go off ok her own? She bolted out of camp, followed by Fernpool, who had just woken up.

Wavecrash heard Applepaw yowl in distress. Oh, no! she thought as she ran into the woods. Halfsight was behind her, and Goldenblaze just peered out of the medicine cat den. Wavecrash snorted. Goldenblaze was just so... careless and selfish. Not the qualities you would expect in a medicine cat, but she was the medicine cat none-the-less.

All the adult cats arrived at the scene around the same time. Thinking quickly, Fernpool concentrated and the ground shuddered. The ground collapsed under the adder, and Lightningpaw scrambled back, barely avoiding falling into the small rift the earth elemental created. The adder survived the fall and frantically slithered around in its little prison.

Rainpaw took a deep breath and stood up to the hole. This is the river, just like the river... It occurred to her that no one except her knew that she could use her powers. She closed her eyes and felt water rising up beside her, like another ally. The water zoomed into the rift, holding the adder in its grasp, beginning to drown it.

Goldenblaze sighed. "A danger appears, and suddenly every single cat has to go check it out. I guess Windstar's still here." she muttered. I know I'm supposed to heal people if they're hurt.. but I think that the seven cats over there have it under control. she thought, and padded back into the den.
Wavecrash was relived that the other cats had it under control, but she was surprised that Rainpaw had used her power. I couldn't have taught her well enough, I guess. I've never known the sensation of actually using my powers... I wonder why I only have half a power... My mother was a fire elemental... she thought. She shook her head and sighed "You guys have this under control. There's nothing more I can do here." she said, and stalked off into the forest in search of some more prey.
Halfsight just arrived on the scene. His saw a small pit full of water with an... adder in it. "Well, you don't see this every day!" he exclaimed. He looked around. He knew Fernpool was the only water elemental here, but he didn't know who had filled the pit up with water. It occured to him that the only water elemental her was Rainpaw "I didn't know she could use her powers..." he murmered, looking away, lost in thought.

"Great StarClan!" Sparkfire exclaimed looking down into the pit. "Great job, Rainpaw! I guess you don't need all these warriors." She touched the apprentice lightly with her tail and started to walk back to camp. "Don't forget to come get me when you're done," she called to Applepaw over her shoulder. "I have something new I want to teach you." If I could only figure it out, she thought.
Fernpool dipped her head to Rainpaw and padded off. Why can't some cats see that different elemental coild work great together, she thought, frustrated. If there were only earth elementals, or only water elementals, or storm, or fire, it would be much harder to kill the adder. What's the point in fighting if the different elementals are more powerful together than they are apart?
Lightningpaw growled. "I could've handled that!" He hissed at Waterpaw. "I don't need a worthless water elemental's help in fighting a stupid adder."

HAlfsight snapped back to reality. "No one's hurt here... Good. I'd with the poor soul who had to go visit Goldenblaze as much luck as possible!" he joked to himself under his breath.
