"Better than you, apparently," she replied with a small smile, having heard about his trip to the infirmary. She fell into step beside him, humming to herself. "I'm good, though. Just wish my cabin wasn't so quiet at times, you know?" It was unusual to find Big Three children though, sadly. Lucia couldn't help but entertain the thought of half-siblings whenever a new summer started, though.
--
Freya was leading Prue straight towards the campfire, a bounce in her step. Some campers were already there from what she could see, but there was still plenty of space to sit down. "Soooo, cause I am so nice, you get to pick where to sit!" Freya announced as they got closer. Nevermind the fact that Prue barely knew any of the campers yet. Freya would still let her pick this time.
"Well, there's certainly gods who like to make more of a show out of it by claiming them at campfires with lots of people present," Nick agreed, being able to think of a few off the top of his head. That brought a smirk to his face. "We should keep a list. I'm sure Apollo would win that one for being most dramatic." He could think of multiple times children of Apollo had been claimed in big crowds, at least.
Chevy laughed as she twirled a kazoo in her hand, “Try to out do each other huh, some really do like competition~” she hummed in thought as she glanced at the campfire as campers gathered, her kazoo’s were being passed around by each camper and she had handed her bag to a trusty worthy camper that continued passing the instruments around. It would be a kazoo orchestra by the time everyone sat down. “Well I really hope there’s one tonight at least! Big show or not. It would be cool if it’s one that’s not so… flashy.” A plot twist if the claimed kid tonight was a deity that liked the behind the scenes more, but either way a claiming was a cool experience. When she got claimed she finally had some… clarity? She went from 90 to 0 in her energy level and finally was able to calm down without climbing the walls 24/7.
“It was exciting to say at least” Nathan joked in response as he walked with Lucia to the fire, at one point he was given a kazoo. He quietly listened as she talked, prior to camp he did have his half-sister Daisy and since being claimed had the cabin. Being blood related or not didn’t matter to him, family was family. But sharing a bond with someone who has the same abilities was also something. Being a son of Aphrodite, of course there’d be kids. But with the Big Three it was a different story, including that rule that they had invoking how many kids they could have or something. “Yeah I get that,” a lively cabin differed greatly to a quiet one, plus if you had your godly parent’s statute staring down at you… that was a bit weird? Creepy? Something like that. “Hana and Nick, maybe more so Hana feels the same… but don’t forget our cabins are open too~ Welcome anytime. Hey maybe we can have some sort of sleep out under the stars with all the cabins? This is a camp after all.”
- -
“Thanks Freya,” Prue had followed quickly after her friend, albeit like a shadow in a way. It had started to get crowded as people were making their way over. She didn’t like crowds that much but this was a different crowd. It wasn’t like a concert or the kind with yelling. “Let’s sit in the front by the fire.” She suggested as she made her way over to one of the places that held free spots for them. For some reason she felt like tonight was going to be different, but she wasn’t sure why or if it was something that would be good or not.

Gaze switching between Nick and Chevy, Hana wasn't sure who she agreed with more. The drama of some claims was fun and exciting, but the quiet claims of more chill gods was cool and interesting as well. In the end, Hana decided she just hoped kids got claimed in the way that suited them best, and brought them the most joy.
"I've got a notepad if you really wanna keep a list," Hana said with a wink. "I'm sure Hermes or Apollo will win. But I'd like to see Poseidon make some noise soon." She couldn't help but frown a little at the end.
"Oh, I'm definitely expecting Apollo and Hermes high on the list," Nick replied in amusement. Though, he partly understood Hana's feelings. While he didn't necessarily need a sibling, the camp was a little different as part of the Big Three.
"I'm sure you'll get lucky soon," he tried reassuring her with a kind smile.
"As long as the harpies get told to not eat us," Lucia mused at the suggestion. It sounded kind of fun though, and really, what camp didn't allow stuff like that?
"Do we even have sleeping bags or anything here?" she wondered. The camp had a lot of magical stuff, but sometimes lacked average human tools and things after all.
--
Freya followed her, plopping down easily by the fire. She could spot Sanaa and her brother close by, but what really caught her eye was somebody else. "Joshua!" she said excitedly, waving at him. "C'mon you gotta show Prue magic tricks!"
A few people had turned to look at her shouting, but most had just ignored her, too used to Freya.
Said camper in question just sighed as he heard her, though, but moved over to say hello to Prue as he hadn't met her before yet.
“Maybe even Chiron has a list, tho I doubt he’d show any of us.” Chevy shrugged a little, after all the centaur was apart of the camp’s staff as the actives director- then again her dad Mr. D might have compiled some sort of list but he was always touchy on some matters like the campers. Demigods died young, or so the saying goes and… well she liked to defy those odds. That or go out smashing her way. “Yeah who knows! You might get a sibling, Lucia might get one, or even Nick! And if none of the above applies, we’ll be your honorary siblings~!” She had a couple of siblings but not a lot, maybe more than she can count on one hand? Or less than? They can be a tricky bunch and sometimes she wouldn’t see them at all. Naturally she was being honest and most of her friends she would consider as family. “We probably should sit down, before the ‘best spots get taken up- oh here’s your kazoo Nick.” She then suggested and handed Nick one of the extra kazoos she had pocketed away. Nearly everyone had a kazoo now as her trustworthy ally (aka Henry) was passing them and getting the rest of his cabin to pass the rest out.
Nathan let out a small laugh, truly forgetting about that one little part. “Yeah I forgot about that…. But yeah at least for the night anyway.” He hoped that at least they could do it once, and if that was a success then they could do it every so often sounded like fun. Maybe they could sleep around the campfire- take care that none of them got caught on fire that is or eaten by a harpy. “I bet a drachma that between the Hermes, Hecate and Hephaestus cabins… they could either acquire it, enchant something or make something.” When there was a will, there is a way or just sheer determination really. He remembered one time one his older siblings at the time- very good skill at charmspeak almost managed to get a pizza delivery order sent to camp by boat. It didn’t work out quite as well… the order was dumped overboard that night and Apparently the harpies like pepperoni.
- -
Prue sat down beside Freya, the spot she picked was nice and the campfire was amazing up close- a nice warmth without a overpowering smoky smell. She looked up when Freya shouted out to someone, slightly freezing on the spot when some campers looked curiously over at them and saw a camper walking over- Joshua. “Hi Joshua is it? I’m Prue.” She was curious about these so-called magic tricks, was it like slight of hand or actually magic? Maybe both? Her uncle was a magician of sorts- he may or may not have taught her how to pick pockets, pick a lock, really just stuff she could survive with.
(I guess the next post will be *poof* Prue your claimed XD)

Hana appreciate Nick's support, and although she tried to be optimistic, she seriously doubted she'd get a half-sibling in the Poseidon cabin during her time at camp. That was something she was going to try to come to terms with... eventually. She was still felt lonely for now. Hopefully the summertime activities would remedy that. After all, she'd already had such a fun and exciting first day of summer camp!
Hana looked around at the seats quickly filling up around the campfire. "It look like most of the good seats are already taken," she laughed. "But you're right, we should probably find a place to sit. Where looks good to you guys?"
Nick took the kazoo with mild amusement gleaming in his eyes. Seemed the campfire was going to be a bit louder and... chaotic today. Suited him fine. To Hana's question, however, he gave a shrug. "Wherever is fine with me, I'm not picky," he replied.
Any spot they picked was going to be chaotic anyway. There was no way to avoid it, so it was best to just embrace it with a smile and let the chaos happen around them.
"Sleeping under the stars would be nice," Lucia agreed with a hum. It would certainly be a cool activity. "Besides, if we leave the campfire burning... then there's still light anyway, right? I'm sure nobody can disagree with that suggestion, then." There was no way to surprise somebody in the darkness when there was light, after all. Not that she thought anything bad could happen when all of them were together. No monster would stand a chance.
--
Joshua gave her a small smile back, introducing himself. Once that was done, he sighed a bit. "Don't listen to Freya. It's not actual 'magic' or anything like you could find in a book. There's something called mist that makes the humans not see monsters and whatnot, and I can manipulate it well. Although... I suppose the things I can do by being a son of Hecate may more go towards the magic side, yeah." He was definitely not going to pull out something to show that right now, though. Too many people around, so many things could go wrong. Which also meant he ignored Freya's disappointed 'awwww'.
Chevy grinned, “I dunno about ya’ll but I’m going to just pop down in any open seat, tonight’s going to be W~I~L~D~!” She stated with with a toot from the kazoo, not wild in terms of like the Maenads, aka followers of her dad who were known for going completely bonkers and partial to the taste of flesh. But just some good ol’ fun to make a great end to this first day of camp- that or a claiming happening but what were the odds of that? Ehh… 50/50, it was the first day anyway.
Nathan nodded in agreement, “I guess the next step would be to ask Chiron and the other counselors about it.” They would most certainly have a curfew at some point but a slumber party under the stars? Awesome, normal mortal stuff. He figured the counselors would be up to the idea, something different and fun that involved everyone. He wasn’t sure what Chiron would think, or even Mr.D for that matter- there was the other problem of possible monster attacks and then getting eaten by harpies was another. The campfire surely was lively tonight, the newer faces were the first to catch his attention- new friends and campers were always a breath of fresh air. Next he could spot right away familiar faces of the older campers, it kind of was like a reunion if it was a summer camp. “We problem should find a spot.” He added as the seats were filling up faster now, he didn’t really care where he sat but among friends and other campers he knew was a bonus.

Prue’s curiosity was answered a bit, maybe wanting to see something? Sure, so did some other nearby campers who awed in disappointment but she had the rest of summer to learn everything, get to know everyone better. Perhaps it’s not smart to do any of that stuff here, after all it’s a time to wind down…. she thought to herself. “That mist stuff does explain somethings.” Recalling brief times with monster encounters or strange things that she saw. But a question that gnawed at her was some it the mist or something that she did? She hoped to find answers later.
Perhaps that was the magic word or something. Next thing she knew a fine mist circled her for only a couple of seconds then swirled above her into the shape of a two-pitched fork. She kind of felt like she was a rope in a tug-a-war match too, not like slipping from reality but more like gaining a sixth sense? Kind of seemed everything had a new feel to it. Looking up at the symbol, she pondered where she had seen it before- all the cabins had their godly’s parents symbol on some part of the structure, it took her a moment to realize that it belonged to Hades.
(That awkward moment when you completely forget everything related to a claiming and the god’s symbol/etc also, Prue has mail)

Hana knew that if nothing else wild happened, Chevy would be sure to make the night wild somehow. Passing out kazoos to all the campers was one way to ensure that, for a start.
Looking around and scanning the area for somewhere to sit, Hana spotted a group of empty seats close to Lucia and Nathan. Waving for the others to join her, Hana started moving over to them. "Come on, let's sit here!"
Nick had been about to follow Hana and Chevy, but stopped when he noticed commotion around the campfire. There was a symbol there, and he squinted a little to spot it over the people moving around there. Of course a sudden claiming was surprising, but there really was no reason for people to be that hectic about it. Though... that sign...? "Hades?" he mumbled, not really sure if his eyes were playing a trick on him.
Lucia had been about to sit when it happened, stopping immediately when she noticed Prue's sign. "Wait, which one is that again?" she asked Nathan. She knew it wasn't Zeus, but it also wasn't one that didn't appear commonly, otherwise she'd know it. And who would ever pay attention to any signs on cabins unless they were new? It seemed a bit familiar, though.
--
Freya looked a bit surprised and confused as well at what had happened, then gave a very casual shrug. "I guess you don't gotta fend for your life in the Herme's cabin for longer...?" she tried, letting out an awkward laugh. Oh, what had just happened? Of course it wasn't Iris that had claimed her, which made her not as cool as Freya obviously, but, well, that sign was kind of a big deal as well, wasn't it?
Chevy was a bit oblivious to what was going on around her until she noticed the drop in the atmosphere as voices became hushed whispers. Looking towards the campfire to what the source was, she saw a sign above one of the campers- one of the new campers that she didn’t know yet or spar with yet. She had to think for a moment of who that symbol belonged to. Alrighty…. Zeus has the 1 aka lighting bolt or the number 1… Poseidon has the 3 aka the trident or the weird shaped fork…. So this one has two ends on a staff….. Hades! He has the… 2 Bident thingy… she thought to herself and proud to have guessed it, she couldn’t see much from she was standing but the whispered gossip that engulfed the crowd was enough. Plus there was seeing how others were reacting to this calming…. They realized who the godly parent was. It was one thing to have a child of the big three in camp, it was another to have each big three kid in camp- and it was another to have a secondary kid pop up and so happened to be from the one that most Greek myths did not treat kindly. She glanced over at Nick and Hana to gauge their reactions, after all they had just been talking about this.
Nathan had just sat down when the calming took place but had stood back up- like some others to get a better view. “That….” His eyes narrowed a little to focus on the symbol and his face moving from slightly puzzled to a bit worried. “That belongs to Hades.” He answered to his friend but couldn’t help but stare at the sign in disbelief and amazement. He had figured a claiming would have been from a more…. Well a divine that had a bunch of kids, really wasn’t expecting this turn out the way it did. He had met the new camper- Prue in passing on her tour of camp when he was… ok maybe he had a little concussion as he couldn’t recall if it was by the arena or in the infirmary. Nice enough kid, a little shy and eager to learn about everything in camp. Of the big three, Hades was always considered the… black sheep of the family? More or less he was the least popular of the gods. “Well this is lovely.”
- -
Prue snapped at of her thoughts and looked back at Freya when she spoke, “I guess so.” So far too her knowledge none of her stuff had been swiped yet from the Hermes cabin, she was a tad reluctant to believe the counselor’s ‘first day discount’ where he personally guaranteed that nothing would be stole, borrowed or secretly acquired during her first day here. “Looks like my godly parent is Hades.” She mumbled a little as she glanced back at the symbol. All eyes seemed to be in her was bad enough once that symbol appeared, she didn’t like being in the center of attention for one. But everyone had kind of just… stopped when she was claimed. I only know a little bit of Greek mythology…. Is Hades all that bad? she thought to herself as she fumbled in her hands a kazoo that had been given to her, trying to block out the stares.
Henry was sitting in the middle row, playing the kazoo as he waited for everyone to get seated and the campfire to commence. Next thing he heard were some gasps as a mist appeared then a symbol residing above the head of one the unclaimed campers. The kazoo he had in his mouth was spat out in shock or surprise and bounced off the head of a random camper in front of him who seemed to ignore it. He was close enough to the campfire that he could feel it’s heat- but with this claiming there was a slight cold feeling. The kind of when you go from being out in the heat and come into a dark and cool place. It would have been refreshing, expect that place was a haunted one. He was happy- maybe grateful that a kid got claimed, after all who wouldn’t want to know who their divine parent was? Some had to wait years and some were just picked the first day. Monsters are attracted to demigods in general, but big three kids tend to be more ‘smelly’ to them…. he thought to himself as he recounted some things he had heard from others and the camper herself. When he was able to talk with her she had been a bit reserved in where she was from, moving constantly and being attacked by monsters had increased with each year. The downside of being claimed is that the monsters will get a better scent in ya too…. Why’d it have to be Hades? I mean I don’t have anything personally with the guy but geez… this Is going to be a doozy he grimly thought and took a glance at a notepad he had. No one had voted in the big three slots for a claiming tonight, so looks like no one won the bet.
"Hmm...my favorite memory? I have too many to count, but i guess, it would be the memory of meeting all you and making friends here on the forums. :3" ”One day I’m going to sit down and make a list of all the books that I finished reading....” “It's going to be a long list...”
"Not her lucky card," Nick said, frowning a little. "Hades isn't exactly popular, I guess." He didn't mind being a son of Hades, but there were a lot of people intimidated by those kind of powers. He shifted a bit, crossing his arms. "I'll go over in a bit. Don't need the kid to be crowded even more than she already is." Either that, or he'd head over if she got crowded too much. Would be better to just let his now-apparently-half-sister get used to it a bit.
"Huh, wasn't expecting that," Lucia replied unhelpfully at first, then shook her head quickly. "Ah, that sounded too negative. Hades is fine and all. Just look at Nick. Their powers are just a little... freaky?" she admitted with a small laugh. It wasn't like she had much room to talk, as a daughter of Zeus, but hers were more... flashy than freaky. Regardless, it wasn't a bad thing to be a kid of Hades.
"A new big three kid, hm?" she added.
---
"Hades is all dark and gloomy," Freya said, then crossed her arms. "Although, I guess Nick is... okay. He's nice, just a bit intimidating at times." Figuring that perhaps Prue would have trouble remembering because she'd only arrived at the camp, she added, "He was the person we met at the weapon shed. The one with the amber eyes." Probably best description she could come up with right now. Well... at least Prue wouldn't be alone in the gloomy Hades cabin, she supposed.

Hana had been ready to run over to the new girl immediately and congratulate her on being claimed as a Hades child, but Nick's comment made her think twice. It probably would get too crowded, and Hana would have many chances later to get to introduce herself.
"Not her lucky card?" Hana pondered aloud. "Well, I think you're great, Nick! And I'm sure the new girl will be great too!" Hana didn't know what it was like, of course, to have that kind of heritage, and to be looked down upon because of it. But she also didn't understand the people who judged or avoided them for it. Looking at Chevy, Hana was sure she felt the same way.
Chevy’s mood had shifted a little with atmosphere- a little dreary but it then changed like a switch, she felt excited after all, a camper got claimed! It was a time to celebrate. “Ah come on Nick~ That’s right Hana! Think on the bright side! Ya get a sis and a kid got claimed, it’s time to party! Singing! S’mores! till the Harpy curfew!” She giggled with a small toot from the kazoo and hopped up in her seat, not only to get a better look at the new camper- but also to emphasis that this was something to be happy for- it’s not like they were at a funeral. She didn’t know much about being looked down on because of her godly parent- okay maybe Mr.D aka her dad was the camp’s director and maybe didn’t have that great of a relationship with the campers- but she understood why. What she couldn’t rack her brain around was… well this whole ‘hate the kid ‘cus of heritage’ pile of sparkles. When she first came to camp it was like a pat on the head ‘claimed’ and that was it really. That and she didn’t really care nor listen to what some campers might’ve said about her divine parent.
“I said this summer was going to be awesome, bravo to Hades for the finishing act.” Chevy added with a smile, what a way to start off the first day of summer- thanks to a certain rule the gods had to claim their kids at a certain age. She wondered if the ‘suddenness’ of the claiming was due to the girl’s age being close or at thirteen. “Let’s end this day with a high note!”
Henry watched with great interest after the initial shock wore off, new camper got claimed, check. The bets turned into smoke, no drachmae gained nor lost tonight. Really it was just a guessing game played by some of the campers, such as who’d get claimed first or who their godly parent was/would be. Most of the time payment was made in candy bars, drachmae, one time a jet ski… the latter being confiscated shortly thereafter. The Hermes camper spotted his friends, Idalia and Yarrow amongst the crowd of campers. Being the little gremlin that he was, he picked up his kazoo and ,are his way over to them. It was fairly thanks to most of the campers standing, he could simply hop over seats and so forth.
“Hey Yarrow! Idalia!“ he called out enough for them to hear him as he managed to grab an empty spot behind them. “Tonight’s a real plot twist, but I’m happy for Prue- at least the chances of her getting robbed in the morning has lessened a bit.” He added with a thoughtful hum, new campers meant new things- and….borrowing or stealing was a common trait amongst those in his cabin, kind of grateful to have one less person to look out for. You can’t pick your parents, but you can pick how to live your life. So far from what he had seen- Prue was doing alright.
Nathan shrugged a little, “Lesser known, bordering on the unknown- I mean the Greek myths don’t like the gloom and doom of underworld or things they don’t understand.” Recalling several myths as most of the time death was the end for some souls, some were reborn, some went to a heaven like place and some went the wrong direction. “A new kid in general, well least the only peril she’ll face tonight is eating too many s’mores.” He joked a little as the atmosphere had quite down some, at least with the hushes tones and honestly he just wanted everyone to just take a chill pill and just leave things be, she was a demigod like them after all.
He had heard some campers, while he recovering in the infirmary talk of seeing Nick- the previously only child of Hades in camp just slink out of the shadows. That thought had been somewhat amusing, like a cat trying to sneak back into the house without getting caught. “Things will certainly be different this year.” - -
Prue nodded in response, she wasn’t that familiar with Hades, his myths or attributes and wondered what kind of powers came with it. Perhaps she was lucky in having a half-sibling in camp. She recalled Nick from the weapons shed, he had suggested for her to be taken to Chiron apparently was what most new campers were suppose to do. The camper was nice from first impressions. Perhaps he could answer some questions too, she wondered if he could see spirits too.
She did start to feel a little better, even if the figurative weight on shoulders remained. Because apparently being from the Big Three was a big deal. With great power comes great responsibility, that whole nine yards. “Thanks Freya.”
"Hmm...my favorite memory? I have too many to count, but i guess, it would be the memory of meeting all you and making friends here on the forums. :3" ”One day I’m going to sit down and make a list of all the books that I finished reading....” “It's going to be a long list...”
Nick's frown stayed for a moment, then he shook his head with a small, amused smile. "Perhaps you're right. At least this way, I'm sure she won't have too many people try picking on her." Hades was, after all, a bit too scary to pick on.
There was a pause, something akin to mischief passing through his eyes, before he also blew into the kazoo once to make a sound. "Hades sure knows how to be tactful. Doing all the claiming before the songs start up," he joked.
"Sounds exciting," Lucia said with a smile, slowly making her way over to Prue. "Maybe she'll be able to join me and Nick for sparring, too." Having somebody else to train with sounded lovely, honestly.
When a few campers finally moved away from staring at Prue, Lucia plopped down next to them, startling Freya for a moment. "Hi! I'm Lucia, nice to meet you," she told Prue. "You probably got introduced to me before, but I don't blame you if you don't remember. Lots of people here." She smiled, then added, "I'm a daughter of Zeus, so we're kind of cousins, I think~"
